A lot of modern western cartoons (and games) love to have depression because it's "mature" but never have the balls to actually talk about it out loud. Just hug it out and remind them they're loved lol.

I personally can't fucking take Stolas depression seriously because his happy pills automatically remind me of dream minecraft music video where he takes the "NORMAL PILLS" and i instinctively chuckle.

I do like the idea of calling antidepressants Happy Pills (could also go with Zooloft in the context of the show), especially if you think of it as a pun on Normal Pills. I’d give him some multivitamins instead though, so he can promote a better treatment of clinical depression. Antidepressants will only ruin your cognitive functions and give you hormonal imbalance.

I had a thought. In orthodox christian theology (and maybe for others but I can't say for sure), prior to the resurrection of Christ, everyone, or almost everyone, who died did not go to heaven. Only after Christ resseructed were the gates of paradise opened, and those who lived righteously prior were freed from Hell's clutches.

My point? Well if Hazbin used this bit of theology, then Adam would have a very strong reason to hate Hell and it's denizens. Not only would he have been stuck down there the longest, but he would have also had spend his time with Lucifer, the guy who arguably ruined his life and put him there.

"So what's wrong with a little payback? The people down there deserve it. They had an easy peasy path to paradise and blew it. They're scum, he never had that chance. He ate one stupid fruit and got to see the literal hellhole get filled with human garbage, murderers and rapists. They don't deserve a second chance."

This would also add a hint of delicious irony to Adam's behavior. He was redeemed yet denies others that same redemption and in doing so became as arrogant as Lucifer.

You just reminded me of Steven Universe Future when Steven turns into a kaijuu monster because of his supposed PTSD, and then everyone gave him a hug. At least that had the excuse of being a kid's show, and even then there was a remark of Steven going to therapy in that six month time skip.

That was what i was thinking about but there are other cases lol. I personally hate future Steven's case in particular cause he was actually extremely dangerous bipolar schizo and nearly killed his own dad, yet the finale makes clear it was everyone else's fault for not loving him enough to notice his suffering.

Stolas depression is really shallow even by cartoon standards and virtually indistiguishable from gay angst. It's currently this ambiguous excuse to handwave why he didnt spend enough time with his daughter.

It's funny because I'm reminded of the Apology Tour episode where Stolas asks Blitzø if he ever feels remorse for what he does, and all I'm thinking is "do you Stolas?" You obviously don't feel bad for cheating on Stella, I don't think you even realize what you did wrong to Blitzø, and you're only now feeling guilty with Octavia because she finally decided to cut you out of her life.

The weird part is that Stolas used to apologize back in season 1 to Octavia. Not a great apology sure but at least an honest "i'm sorry dear it's just me and your mother are... i'm sorry", like he recognizes he's the problem here.

Modern Stolas would never do that because i'm sure he never did. As far as i remember Stolas never apologized for anything ever again. It's ALWAYS either the other person's fault for being mean and/or not understanding how much he loves them. Even in Seeing Stars it's octavia who apologizes, then he scolds her, she explains he forgot to take her to see stars, only then Stolas tries to apologize but Via interrupts and says it's okay so he doesn't.

Like, there has to be a concious effort here to make Stolas apologize or else it means he must be wrong in any capacity, but the hypocrisy of him saying blitzo can't apologize is fully lost on vivzie somehow.

I never watched bojack but even i know they have the guts to have characters explicitly call out the mc and refuse their fake apology but vivzie doesn't have the guts for that.
