Think about the setting and plot of the show you're describing and repeat that sentence.
Okay. The show should have some sweet and innocent stuff in it.

A show sucks if it's just nothing but pure edge all the time, with or without it being in Hell.

Random ass question time:

I heard someone mention that Helluva Boss shouldn't be considered an indie show anymore since many of the voice actors of the show aren't indie. I don't know exactly what to think about that.
What qualifies a show to not be indie?

That's like saying if Christian Bale takes a cut in pay to take a role in a movie from a small house, it's suddenly not indie.

Just the series itself being independent from (major) studios, right? It's not like most voice actors are gotten from a studio, they're random celebs (many of them being in musical theatre or regular tv acting and not professional voice actors) that get a role.
The only actual professional VA's are I think Moxxies and Verosikas? Among the major characters. Maybe Stolas and Loona too.

The bigger question is what Hazbin Hotel is, now that it's been picked up by a studio.

Complete irrelevant to voice actors but I can't take Verosika seriously because what her name means in finnish. Her name is Taxhog, vero=tax sika=hog/pig. That's just isn't a sexy lady demon name. To be fair it does sound like an awesome name for a lawful evil creed demon that happy to be upfront because it makes screwing people over even better.

Next episode is already on its way. I get the feeling I'm not going to be a big fan of this one.

A Stolas episode. Yay.
Hey, hey Vivz? Come here.

You see this character, that you apparently created? How about we start seeing more of her please? No, the last episode doesn't count, you focused mostly on Moxxie's daddy issues then.

Or how about giving this one an actual personality besides being an aggressive, misanthropic bitch?
..........
No? More gay bird demon prince drama? You sure? You positive?

*sigh*

Wouldn't he be a capitalist if he owns his own business...? Working class means you do not own the means of production/businesses and only survive on your labour as an employee. Striker is an independent hitman which doesn't seem like a very working class job. The agricultural labourers where Millie is from are working class.

And with that, all lingering hope I had for these shows went down the shitter. Bye guys, it was fun while it lasted.

Silly Kiwi, expecting things to coalesce and make sense.

He is a fucking assassin who owns his own business and has a side hustle as being a sugar baby for a fucking gay owl for fucks sake.

How in any world is this fuck considered working class? Oh right, its because the laptop generation of tumblrites said so and they clearly know what its like to be working class...clearly.

Jesus Christ Viv please stop drinking the kool aid.

Rather sad Helluva Boss has slowly turned into Stolas: The Show. Not that I have an issue with the character but I don’t really think writing him as a main character was a good idea when 80% of the new episodes revolve around him. But eh, really shows Viv just wants to focus on the “gay uwu romance” than actually develop the other characters like Millie who desperately need it.

I also do hope they don’t do Striker dirty in the next episode either, probably the most interesting character to me in the series. I’ve always enjoyed antaongists who mirror or, match the protagonist in skill and such. Striker being basically everything Blitz isn’t, but know recent trends I can probably expect him to either him killed off or something else because “toxic masculinity”.

Maybe I’m just a bit 🌈 but knowing how Viv has a tendency to do such things I don’t have much hope for the future.

Yeah but like the farmers in the real world, they don't count according to the laptop generation.

Striker's design was vastly different from the other Imps when he was first introduced and the latest episode showed Moxxie's, and Millie's, ex, Chaz, had some similar physical characteristics as Striker. One can deduce that Striker is likely a hybrid demon, which, in the hands of the good writer, could have opened up how the Hellborn demons view the offspring of a mixed relationship.

It would be better if the character of Stolas hadn't abruptly been cheapened so much. He came across as a thousand year old chickenhawk demon prince who got bored of centuries of philandering and had a kid ("All my stories have been told except for one" and everything around that line) but got bored of that and went back to philandering. He seemed like he would have had experience with all kinds of the deeper business of hell and the human world and god knows what else. There seemed like there was an extremely deep well to draw from for stuff Stolas has done.

Now he's arguably younger than the main character who is in a kind of late-stage young adulthood, he's only ever had eyes for the main character, ever, and he can't have done anything in his life except be a demon prince for a few years, be divorcing his wife, be romantically attached to the main character, and be ignoring his kid.

Stolas got so much smaller, and the show has probably followed him down. Hell, I'm probably just going to read this thread and skip the actual show from now on.

"bigot poisoned by toxic masculinity" I didn't watch much of the Harvest Festival episode because that's when I started to become disillusioned with the show, but isn't Striker just a cowboy assassin doing his job? The main characters themselves are assassins that have probably killed way more people than him. Also, does Blitzo really count as working class when he's fucking a Goetia prince of hell, or is that just not as impressive anymore with how uwufied he's been?

This is really my problem with what Viv has turned the Hazbin universe into. I originally was really into the idea of this version of hell where like 99% of demons die in the cyclical purge and that the 1% of demons that survive it are fucking ancient beings who come to epitomize sins themselves because they HAVE to be that powerful/guileful to survive. That demons are just (AND ONLY JUST) the demented souls of humans sent screaming to hell and newcomers are often slaughtered/abused for the amusement of those that survived. Hell's "princess" is really the only one who was actually born there (meaning she committed no sins to be there like everyone else) and was protected by the ruler of Hell from all the bad shit, hence her naivete and genuine love for the denizens of hell.

Now it turns out that there are just a fuckload of demons are born into hell with what I have to assume are no souls and most demons are just regular people living regular lives, except they just so happen to be in "oh so quirky" hell (which is just California really). The eldritch nightmares that rule over them are really just generic aristocratic royalty. Why does hell have aristocratic royalty you might ask? Because Viv really is nothing more than a slightly more talented Tumblrite and Tumblrites really love writing generic aristocratic royalty into stories for god knows what reason, that's why. Oh and everyone and everything is gay or trans, because again Viv is only a slightly more talented Tumbrite who I can only guess at this point ACCIDENTALLY created the Hazbin pilot to be as good as it was. That or Woke brain rot really set in.

You hit the nail right on the head here, the reason I hate Viv's hell is because the IDEA of it at the very start was pretty cool until it got watered down into a gay Tumblr/deviantart-style paradise that just so happens to be tinted red and the only people killed are unimportant side characters. In the HH pilot and that one Alastor comic, it looked like this lawless, Darwinist, overpopulated shithole where taking a wrong turn or just being at the wrong place at the wrong time, even if you just arrived, could get you killed, horribly maimed, or even eaten depending on who finds you. The only order it seemed to have was Lucifer himself and a bunch of glorified crime bosses he delegated his work to, with a bunch of violent angels coming to slaughter waves of demons every year just to keep the place functional.

Thennnnn, Viv's 'tism started kicking in and suddenly the overlords ain't shit compared to all the other hell-born lords and princes, and all the sinners are confined to their own space while the others get six other rings (which makes you wonder why the average sinner is canonically higher on the totem pole than the average hell-born demon, and said totem pole seems to be nonexistent when an imp can just knock out Asmodeus' fuck buddy and really leave the place alive.)

There's suddenly jails and shit if Blitzo and Moxxie got arrested. (Even though it's hell, where you'd assume any law enforcers would be of the shoot-on-sight variety)

Makes me wonder if they're gonna do a bunch of retcons about Valentino, because the fact that he canonically raped Angel at least once, and probably a lot more people, is probably too dark for her current vision of hell with all it's toothless "edge" that's just bright red characters swearing and having sex. Stolas is already long gone from the centuries old aristocrat ordering politicians on earth killed so he's less lonely.
