Been seeing lots of shitting on Helluva the past couple days, the scene in Western Energy where Blitzo almost says 'retard' has been making the rounds on Twitter. It's true that the humor has always been one of the show's weakest aspects but this episode in particular seems to have set people off.

Watched the new episode. Not the best thing ever but it killed a little time.
Stella being a trashy idiot and her brother being classy and smart amuses me for some reason.
I thought he was a lawyer at first. He still comes across that way, although so far as I know we don't know what profession he has other than being demon royalty.

Something I read in one of the fan wikis was that Andrealphus is jealous of Stolas because Stolas is Lucifer's top prophet, but I can't find a source for that. Has that actually been said in canon? It would explain why his rather extreme assholery is tolerated.

Also re Stella, if you look at it from her perspective she has every reason to hate Stolas's guts. Her main concern is keeping up appearances and Stolas does nothing but constantly be a public disgrace and humiliate her at every opportunity. She may have hated him on sight but she certainly wasn't trying to outright murder him until fairly recently.

Consider that the one thing she cares about most is reputation and social standing, and Stolas couldn't treat that with more contempt.

And it's not like he only treats Stella this way. He's been completely inconsiderate to Octavia too, the one character (other than Blitz) he actually cares about.

Seriously, Stolas is a narcissistic asshole. A charming, charismatic narcissistic asshole, but an asshole nonetheless.

Even jacking her cuntery up to 11 to make her the obvious designated villain still doesn't erase the fact she has every reason to hate his guts, even if the whole arranged marriage thing wasn't really his fault. He basically broke the royal social contract that in one of these arranged marriages, you maintain appearances while keeping your affairs discreet.

I think she would have hated him considerably less had he not insisted on being an utter public disgrace to the point his name is a joke, something he doesn't care about but causes her considerable tumult.

tl;dr Stolas is a lolcow.

So I watched the latest episode and a couple of things I noticed:
1. Stolas has plot armor as thick as an M1 Abrams.

2. Striker is a smart character being written by a stupid writer. He lets Stolas call his 'boyfriend' for help?

3. Moxxie and Millie's presence in the show has been irritatingly lifeless and dull because there's no character development at all in any of their scenes.

4. The episode felt unfinished. Erica Lindbeck was apparently not present to voice any lines so we're left with a silent Loona who acts very uncharacteristic in this episode.

5. This Stolas X Blitzo love quest is really making me not want to continue watching this show. It's so obnoxiously contrived and fan servicy that it's genuinely grating to watch.

6. If blessed weaponry exists in hell and it's devastating enough to take down an archdemon, how is a wandering nomad like Striker able to obtain something of that value? Something like that would be worth a king's fortune.

Yeah, you can thank millennial's and Gen Z's obsession with yaoi anime and youtube fuck boys cosplaying in maid outfits for the deconstruction of an otherwise interesting plot point. Everything has to inconsequential and guilt free and morally white with no grey at all.

I have no idea where they got this from, unless it came from a recent livestream. Sounds more like a headcanon.

Vivienne went on a big REEEEEEing spree on Twitter again:

Have you maybe considered, Vivienne, that a lot of the criticism you get ISN'T made in bad faith, but is made by people who genuinely want your writing skills to improve because they see the potential that your concepts have? If you genuinely tried to listen to those critics, you wouldn't even have to spew this word salad all over the Twatter. But you don't. And it's clear from this tweet thread that you never will. In other words:

Yeah, such a weak gotcha that you can't think of a way to refute it.

Oh boy, I can't wait to see Vivienne's reaction if there is blowback to the episode that had a scene, where Millie contemplates suicide, leaked. She will probably say that is the character development people have been wanting.
It would have been better if it was her brother

I saw that thread earlier, Viv is butthurt alright.

To play devil's advocate for a moment, there have been lots of people bashing her shows just for the sake of jumping on the hate bandwagon. But most of the actual criticism comes from those who actually like, or used to like, them. Season 2 of Helluva has been pretty rough so far and the cracks are showing to the point that more and more people are speaking up about it. No, the show is obviously not over yet, but it's only natural that her audience is going to call out flaws where they see them.

Are these really "bad takes", Viv, or are you genuinely that bad at taking criticism? Seems to be the latter.

She needs to lol calm down and quit acting like the horrid character she is using as a pfp (and who she voiced). Maybe change it to a more likeable character too.

If y’all was in charge of season 2 what would have it be centred around besides this yoai bait stuff
