So I watched both episodes, they weren't terrible, but they weren't good either.

Episode 1 was mainly on the low tier of meh, the first ten minutes are nothing special but after Adam took the spotlight my enjoyment plummeted. He's just obnoxious and Alex's performance isn't good enough to lift his character up, although he damn well tries so I can't fault him too bad. As expected the voices are big downgrades, Vaggie's VA legitimately sounded sick during recording or just bored out of her damn mind, Keith David as Husk gives a good standalone performance, but the dude was massively miscast or given awful voice direction. Alastor actually had his radio effect for the most part, wasn't as prominent as the pilot's but still usually front and center, so they didn't scrap it.

Surprisingly episode 2 was pretty alright for the most part, the pacing was indeed terrible, but the Alastor vs Vox song was good enough to do some heavy lifting for the episode and Alex as Pentious was probably one of the best of the recasts and gives a performance that shows he at least gives a shit and isn't here for a paycheck, it also helps that Viv couldn't get Stamper back even if she wanted to.

I still think the series is going to get worse as it moves forward, especially because the Eve, Lilith, and Roo leak is now 100% confirmed, but it's not quite as bad out of the gate as I expected.

Is there anyway to watch the second episode? I got it on Google drive, but it won't let me download it.

I believe the episodes were average. They were better than the dumpster fire I was imagining going into it, but they were just okay. Nothing terrible, nothing amazing. I will say however - Epsiode 2 was definitely better than 1. Vox and Alastor's song was surprisingly pretty good.

A bit of a personal gripe, but my feelings about Keith David's performance remain unchanged since the trailer. He has a good voice, but it isn't what I imagine Husk would sound like. Mick did a better job portraying his character, at least from just these two episodes. Hopefully it'll change as the rest of the episodes air.

Episode 1 felt like a bootleg made by someone who had seen the pilot once and filled in what the show should be from memes. Adam's design is boring, and why is a human man an angel anyway? They are two separate races!

Episode 2 is already better and I'm only halfway through it.
Edit I finished the 2nd episode and it's not bad. I hope they tone down the Big Musical Number crap but I doubt I can get that lucky.

I wonder if Vivzie has seen The Devil's Carnival. Nah, I don't really wonder.

One commen that comes up now and again is that Vizzie's work ends up being fanfiction of itself.

Watched both episodes now, and the main thing I'll say that it's underwhelming compared to both the pilot and the whole of HB, despite how critical I was just being of that show. Some quick points to go through:

Pros:
  • No gay shit (yet). Unless the premiered 3rd episode has more to show, the Twitter fan was just talking bullshit with the ships she was gushing about amounting to characters just talking to each other. It's unfortunately not going to last, but Husk for now detests Angel and his flirtations.
  • Maybe I'm not paying enough attention to the exact lines, but this seems much less "written by Viv" than HB regarding sheer profanity,
  • Adam and Vox are entertaining new characters with good songs.
  • I like Nifty.
Cons:
  • Awful introduction to the main cast, the Hell setting, and the premise of the hotel with much of it being "told" rather than "shown", these two episodes rather concerned primarily with introducing new antagonists. Feels like the pilot is required viewing (and seemingly just about all still canonized as an event from the prior week), which is unfortunate to new viewers since A24/Amazon will obviously not provide or give direction to it.
  • Definitely a downgrade in animation, giving me the impression that this professional production was done much more cheaply than Viv's own YouTube content. This seems to result in a lot of the scenes amounting to fairly static conversations in rooms. The scuffle that happens in episode 2 is laughable compared to what HB accomplishes.
  • Partly because of the point above, characters we've seen before in the pilot now appear less lively and exciting, particularly Alastor, Angel, and Sir Pentious.
  • I just remarked before about how Hell was becoming increasingly benign through the duration of HB, but here in Hazbin it's now more plain than ever, given the limited viewing we have of it. Nowhere close to the level of chaos with vile inhabitants as portrayed in the pilot.
  • Vaggie's new voice sucks. Katie Killjoy now sounds like a man.
Further Notes:
  • The rumor about later twists now feels way more likely to be true, which is lame for Alastor.
  • I really hope that introduction about Heaven and the creation myth is Satanic propaganda that Charlie just naively believes rather than hard facts for the audience. Combined with the apparent softening of Hell I mention above, it's really seeming that the show wants to get across its inhabitants in general as the poor and downtrodden wrongfully victimized by mean ol' elitist Heaven, a premise that annoys me.
  • I guess that with the introduction of antagonistic angels right away, the trailer was correct in that the show is mainly about a conflict between Hell and Heaven rather than the commendable mission of the hotel concerning redemption, which is a shame.
  • Even though Sir Pentious is apparently inducted into the main cast (which is good), I have an unfortunate feeling that we're hardly going to be seeing his Egg Boiz anymore.

First episode is pretty weak, the pacing is a mess and I know Adam is obnoxious on purpose but his dialogue is painful to get through. I actually kinda liked his song though.

The second episode is significantly better, Alastor and Vox's song is surprisingly good but I cringed at Alastor saying "that's the tea." I like how they're handling Sir Pentious, he might be my favorite so far.

The voices are majorly hit-and-miss, and I'd say they're the biggest negatives so far along with the vocal direction and animation errors.
  • Vaggie sucks the majority of the time, her pitch is way too deep.
  • Keith David just does not fit as Husk.
  • Angel Dust sounds alright sometimes, but for the most part his voice is cracking as if he's going through puberty.
  • Charlie and Niffty are fine, and Alastor actually isn't as bad as expected. Adam and Lute are okay too even though Adam is just Fizz without the scratchiness.
  • Wasn't a fan of how Sir Pentious sounded at first but he grew on me.
  • As expected, Brandon as Katie is fucking horrendous and he didn't even try.
  • Tom and the egg bois sound goofy as hell and not in a good way.
  • Vox sounds like a regular boring guy, Valentino is whiny and shifts back and forth between having an accent, and Velvette's voice doesn't fit her at all.
I also noticed they blatantly copy+pasted a bunch of old stuff, this just being one example:

Just finished the eps. If I was in my teens/early 20s, I would've eaten HH up. But I'm old and have evolved past high school theater club and gay RP shenanigans.

I think the intended target audience will like it a lot. All I can hope for is that if HH turns a profit, maybe platforms will consider picking up more indie projects intended for niche audiences, but that's an extremely optimistic take from me. I just want indie animation to have success while big animation studios that have ruled the entire industry continue to eat shit and fucking die.

Ep 1: 5/10
Ep 2: 6/10

I don't want bad indie animation to succeed, anymore than I want bad big-budget animation to succeed.

We still have Glitch Productions, Lackadaisy, or Alex Henderson. I'm not crying tears over a cunt like Vivzie flunking out.

I get the generosity you intend in making sure the leaks remain accessible, but I'd be wary about whether Null permits having these hosted directly on the site.
If there’s a problem, more than happy for the posts to go down. Until then, figured I should make them more accessible for discussion and commentary.

Didn't the pilot also have a bunch of supplimentary material that was almost essential viewing/reading beforehand?
I watched the pilot mostly on mute back in 2019 and didn't read anything since (aside from production news and funny as fuck Vivziepop drama) and haven't seen Helluva Boss. I don't feel like I missed anything.

Since no one's done it yet, here's the musical moments in the episodes listed that I've liked from most favorite to least:
1. Adam's song (Bang's hard, really liked it, his voice and character fits the sorta rockin' vibe they were going for for him).
2. Happiest day in Hell (Animation was probably at its lowest during the montage, but despite Charlie trying hard to LARP as a Disney princess her song also still slaps good).
3. Vox and Alastor's duet (Vox is pretty good for the most part, but by the time it got to Alistor's is when I wasn't really feeling it for the rest. Pretty decent overall).
4. Pentious and the gang singing (phyisically cringed throughout the whole ordeal, Pentious's voice is NOT made for singing. Niffty's reaction at the end was my thoughts exactly).

I'm not sure how I feel if these musicals are expected to be a continuing trend in oncoming episodes, but so far I've liked how most of them sound and I probably would listen to them alone once Amazon puts them up on YouTube for others to hear.

Alastor does not work in this new animation style, which is a shame, because as edgy as he was, he was my favorite character in the pilot because of how animated and zippy his movements looked, it felt like he really carried himself like this was all a game he was playing on a whim to him. (The fact that they got a new guy to voice him and evidently told him to do a C tier imitation of his old VA's voice really didn't help.)

Also, they're never gonna make him look cool again, I don't know why they keep trying.

Watching the episodes, it feels way too rushed and has way too many things going for it at once. Though based on a lot of things, it feels like the leaks are definitely true.

A lot of the music was okay, but some of the transitions into the songs feel really forced, even if I liked the songs.

One thing that definitely turns me off is the fact the angels are introduced too early, it feels like they should've been saved for later to at least give a mystery if Charlie's heaven plan would work, but its obvious that it really won't.

With Viv trying to get red carpet for her show and the broadway VA's there definitely is a lot of financial mismanagement with the show.
