Why Heaven fears Hell anyway? I mean, think about it, Hell is an extremely disorganized shithole with little to no alliances or loyalties and they are constantly working towards stabbing each other in the back. Hell seems far more concerned in self sabotaging itself than to stand up against Heaven. Outside of a very few demons, Im sure none of them, native or sinners, could put up a fight against an angel exterminator so why Heaven cares? Are they just bored? Wouldnt surprise me if suddenly they revealed they are just very VERY bored as a cheap attempt on commentary on how Heaven would be "boring" or something.

Reminds me a bit of All Dogs Go to Heaven and how Charlie (odd coincidence I guess) thought Heaven was boring cuz it had no surprises but the story portrays this refusal of Heaven as a bad thing and how, by returning to Earth to get revenge, he may have doomed his one free shot to Heaven (because Charlie, as he is, wasnt a good dog so if he died again, he would be sent to Hell). Its not until the end of the movie where he chooses to sacrifice himself to save Anna Marie that he actually earns his spot in Heaven again and is thus more accepting of it now.

Its kind of amazing how that animated movie from decades ago is a far more fitting and better portrayal of Heaven and Hell and its kind of goes against the whole "Heaven would be boring" argument

That'd be a lot easier to consider if Adam and the other angels weren't actively portrayed as fundamentally immoral. Maybe Helluva Boss shows off more traditionally good angels, I haven't seen it, but the representative of Heaven in Adam hasn't been shown to have any kind of moral complexity. If Heaven isn't actually evil, or at least fundamentally corrupt, then why has someone like Adam not only been allowed to rise but become a representative of them?

Heaven already was foreshadowed to be a corrupt shithole in H.B. I guess there was still hope that this was all an exception and not the rule but Adam and crew confirm they are just tyrannical dicks that want to maintain their power.

So was it explained in some offhand comic or merch drop on why Niffty does this on camera?

Not a complaint on character lore, just curious.

This is why it's good to know that while Vivzie can animate well, she can not write well.

Heaven is honestly VERY lenient with who they let in if most of hell is straight up cannibals and murder happy gangmembers and rapists and shit as it appears to be, which in turn makes Charlie seem even more like a lil bitch for insisting they could be redeemed
What do we even have to root for Charlier so far? Why should we even care that these terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad demons deserve redemption anyway? Other than being "UmU sad beanbois with le tragic past," why should I care if Husk or Nifty were to be exterminated? What redeeming qualities have we been presented with that show us these guys have more than meets the eye other than daddy issues? What should compel me to feel bad for murdering, cannibalistic, raping, sociopathic, narcissistic, self-centered, drug-addicted Oncelers and Wardens?
This is a big problem, which I believe I've noted before. They can try to paint Heaven as corrupt, but when your other option is a Hell filled with cannibals, homicidal maniacs, and the incarnations of the seven deadly sins themselves, it becomes much harder to side against them, especially when you consider that they are portrayed as the antagonists because they're against the aforementioned cannibals and homicidal maniacs. Their policy of exterminating denizens of Hell actually becomes a bit more reasonable when you realize that they kind of need to keep them in check if they represent a legitimate threat, and letting some into Heaven could be catastrophic if they were only pretending to be redeemed to try and find any weaknesses or even if they were to just relapse.

I don't know if I was supposed to be watching or reading supplementary material
This is my biggest problem with Viv. I was having a lot of fun speculating on Alistair (my favorite idea being that he was actually Jesus, which would lead to a *really* fucking interesting conflict with heaven (Deer = Lamb, and if Jesus died for our sins, read: Took on our sins, he would be the biggest sinner in hell, by merit of having the entire human race's sins.)) then my wife reminded me of the supplementary lore, and I just lost all interest again.

Something makes me wonder is where are the traditionally masculine characters like some giga-chad that was some warrior who fucked up people in life and in Hell are some warlord with an army of other chads. Unless it proves only the gay go to hell which would be quite hilarious
The show is set in hell and 99% of the cast is effeminate faggots.

I don't know what is funnier, it being intentional, or it not being intentional? I mean we know the answer, the writer is a fujo, so she wasn't really thinking about implications while writing one handed, but its still a hillarious side effect.

Finally got around to watching this and wow do I have criticisms!!! I want to like this show so bad but it's like the second every episode starts to feel like it might be getting good, someone bursts into a cringe song. It's also pretty clear that they spent an insane amount of production time and effort on the song parts, to the point where other aspects of the show feel neglected by comparison. Some of the character designs don't even feel fully realized - like the artists didn't even know how to draw them from every angle to begin with. And Velvette's redesign from freaky lolita dress doll to ... australian rapper..? is one of the most egregious offenses of all. If they had removed the musical aspect completely there's no doubt in my mind that this would be a much better show.
The songs are the best part, lad. The power ballads especially like 'Whatever it takes' are emotive and grand, a great vista of a song...

How is Velvette an 'Australian rapper'? She clearly sounds British, like a female British rapper like Lady Sovereign, are you some kind of yank that can't tell the difference between the two accents or something?

I loved the pilot when it came out way back, Loved these 4 episodes, don't think too much, just go along for the ride...

Objectively incorrect. The songs are the worst part by miles. And yes I'm a yank who couldn't tell the difference because her voice actor sucks (the accent is not consistent) and she's on screen for like 5 total minutes. And I skipped the rap part entirely because I was cringing too hard.

I loved the pilot too and it's still great if you go back and watch it after seeing the show. Flawed, but great. And yet still fundamentally better than the actual show somehow.

Sorry, sweetie, appreciation of art has never had objective quantifiers, I love the songs as much as I serve the WEF, that is, body and soul... Other folx in this thread have said they find the songs catchy.

I'll admit the show needs the pilot for it to make sense, just watching it on Amazon Prime might be confusing.

New song leaks:

"Hell's Greatest Dad"

Alright Viv, we get it, you hate Charlastor. Feels like she did this out of spite, it's not like we've ever seen Alastor act fatherly towards Charlie. It’s cute that Viv thinks this is going to deter the shippers, too; if anything, it’s going to spawn “Your daughter calls me daddy too” shitposts and incest jokes.

"More Than Anything"

"You Didn't Know"

Wow, Vaggie is an angel, who could've possibly seen that coming?

"Welcome to Heaven"

Not only was Lucifer' song shit, he gets upstaged by Alastor and a literal who. Cuphead's Devil continues to be the superior King of Hell.
His song will most likely be shit. Until the Virgin Lucifer song comes out, here is the (full) Chad Devil song.

Lucifers singing voice is way too good for that goofy ass design, pathetic personality and eh songs. also for a sec i assumed it was her ex boyfriend singing in more than anything

Jeremy Jordan deserves better than to play a Lucifer that gets double cucked (both with his wife and daughter) by someones op gary stu edgelord original character donut steel

Vaggies voice at the end (and in general) sounds really nasally imo, the 'dont adam plEasee' just does not sound well with the very expressive and clear voice acting of the other characters. She was probably typecast because her most well known character is a bitchy latina lesbian, but brooklyn 99 was an actual comedy rather than a drama with sex jokes so it isnt working here.
At least her being an angel gives her some character depth unrelated to her partner, more than millie can say

Im pretty sure Nifty (and keith david cat) is the only one voiced by an actual voice actress rather than regular (theatre) actors whove had 0-5 voice acting roles before this
Edit: Alastor and surprisingly Vaggies va's have had like 20 voice acting roles (many minor but still) before this.
Angel dust and the egg bois are that dudes first va role, same with charlie.

I saw this comment in a youtube video and I thought it was funny because I said the same thing earlier in the thread:

i also feel like introducing the angels through adam as some immature fuckboy really removed the kind of chilly spooky aura created by the exorcists and stuff. if they were introduced to be more sinister it would make the idea that they are corrupt in a far more threatening way loom over the viewer as they wait for this bigger conflict. but no, viv using half assed rude=funny to make her show character driven in a messy way, strikes again!

If Viz was clever she could have drawn a sharp and unforgetable contrast, everyone in the show (i.e. demons) is crude, crass, swears nonstop and moves and talks like a rubber monkey on crack.

Having angels be quiet, reserved, talk slowly and clearly, and have slower and more subdued animation while never swearing, just generally being classy, would have been a big "wow" moment and also incredible memorable.
