As disappointed as I am at how this show turned out, I’ll actually feel really sorry for my friend. He was the one who introduced me to HB and HH. He likes HB, even with its flaws, but he was so hyped for HH. The pilot made it look decent.

Watching his reaction to the poor writing won’t even be funny. It’ll just be depressing.

The whole thing doesn't surprise me in the slightest, which is why I've been observing with morbid curiosity and amusement at a distance ever since 2018.

Not to say I don't empathize with those who got emotionally invested in it.

Judging by how Vivzie is a fujoshi, a wokist, and has admitted on multiple times that she harbors anti-christian attitudes, the real surprise would have been if Hazbin Hotel actually turned out good, and if it wasn't an offensive, obnoxious exercise in venting the author's spleen at institutions and religions she's harbored so much hatred for since the aughts.

In a way, it kinda reminds me of Santa Inc, which was a Christmas special created by woke Scrooges who hate Christmas.

Likewise, Hazbin Hotel is a theological cartoon that mocks the very concept of redemption.

Pentious dies in the lamest way possible, charges his big laser on his airship to take out Adam but gets anticlimactically blasted away.

Thank god they didn't actually kill off one of the few great characters in this thing.

Okay, it was probably mentioned somewhere on this thread, but I’ll just ask right now:

When did Viv say she hated Christianity? And I don’t mean the show lol

Just finished watching everything.
I actually enjoyed it, it's not perfect but it's not the worst thing ever, I had a good time.
I really hope that we still see more of Pentious in Season 2 though, he's the best character in the show and I love him.

Alright, I was probably talking out of my ass with that one, but she at least criticized Scott Cawthorn for his religious and political beliefs, only to immediately be called out for her hypocrisy because she previously ranted against "cancel culture."

Not to mention plenty of leftists have this attitude of, "I don't believe in your shitty Christian beliefs, but if I invoke them hard enough, maybe you'll do as I say."

And Vivzie, I imagine, is just smart enough to avoid political sperging on the internet for the most part, but the little we can see doesn't indicate that she likes Christianity all that much.

The fact other shows have existed with a small amount of time to craft an entire 12 episode show with lore, character development, backstories, side characters that push the plot, and a simple, intriguing plot with an exciting ending twist has been done before really well (Over the Garden Wall comes to mind) without feeling rushed shows that this smaller team and its constrictions can be done really well if you have a team of good passionate writers.
Remember when a show based on fucking League of Legends of all things blew most other western adult animation out of the water while still being ~*diverse*~, in only 9 episodes? Where a bunch of stuff happens but its generally not too much? While having a heavy 'us vs them' element (with the poor edgy city and the priviledged fancy but also still corrupt city having tenstion) with morally gray, compelling characters?
With people with 0 knowledge of LoL lore being perfectly able to follow it?

Ofc it has some flaws, but it shows a clear difference between the results of creative and modern professionals, and the results of unprofessional (wo)manchildren in positions they're not even properly trained for
