The Cherubs episode was what made me stop caring about HB, not because of them but because of how the message was just "le capitalism is le heckin' bad" message being forced in, and now they're working with Amazon of all people.
Well, capitalism IS bad, it's just sadly better than the alternatives, and it still deserves criticism, but they were so cute and well-intentioned. I wanted to see them again. They were so adorable. And if you disagree you are a fucking evil weirdo and I will come and rape your mom!

I’m probably looking too deep into this but isn’t there some mental disorder (it might be BPD) where the sufferer essentially has no ‘self’ and sort of molds themself like a chameleon around the people they have relationships with? I wouldn’t be surprised if Viv has that.
I mean, it isn't impossible, but I don't think it's quite that severe. Viv definitely has her own style as well, she's basically been making Hazbin-esque stories for the last 10 or so years. If she was just shamelessly copying the communities around here, I think she'd have moved on to something else. To give her some credit, I genuinely think she's interested in being a creator and telling stories. To then take away that credit, she's basically shown no growth as a writer over the last 10 or so years and has been retelling the same general story over and over, but still hasn't gone beyond a basic, bare bones concept.

I think she's just kinda impressionable and if she seems something cool/that she likes, she wants to use it, but because of the previously mentioned lack of creativity...it doesn't really go anywhere and gets repurposed into more or less the same exact story that, if you ever took any sort of creative writing class as a teenager, you've already seen.

IMO, it's one of the many reasons why the pacing is so off in a lot of her work. Because she's been telling the same story over and over for such a long period of time, in her mind, the lore and world is already established and she wants to rush to the parts she finds interesting. She can't take a step back and remember that readers/viewers don't have the same insights as she does. To again try and give her some credit, I think she's got a firm grasp on the "middle" of a story, but she's absolutely horrible at setting up the beginning and I sincerely doubt she's ever considered how to put together the conclusion. It's why she's constantly introducing new characters and plotlines, but just as quickly abandoning them, with only a few of her favorites managing to get any continued screentime.

Speaking of reanimated stuff, VivziePop was apparently in a Cartoon All-Stars reanimated collab. The goal was to reanimate the song about saying no to drugs, and she butchered the antagonist's appearance. Here's what he looks like in the actual show-

It's astonishing how she stripped the purple weed man of all his aura. He looks like Alastor now, it's like she can't help herself
Wanted to reply to this because jesus h. christ she really can only draw two body types can she?
It's either "Triangle body with twig for limbs" or "nothing but curves (but in a bad way)"

@Vyse Inglebard Honestly? More Viv lore, please! I'm loving the stuff you're digging up, and honestly it's pretty much the only way to keep this thread interesting at this point.
Hell, I got a backlog of old Vivzie's Patreon posts if everyone is that interested in that kind of thing. Only reason why I haven't posted them yet was because I'm not sure if they have good posted in this forum before.

I think she's really good at worldbuilding, creating characters, and even humor.

The problem is she meticulously builds worlds, then completely breaks them, creates characters, then immediately flanderizes them, and rapidly degenerates into dumb dick jokes, after making actually funny dick jokes (although I think Brandon Rogers makes most of the actually funny dick jokes being a giant homo and all).

Honestly, I think the best jokes/gags come from Brandon Rogers more than anything. I'm probably giving too much credit, but Vivz is kind of a George Lucas while Brandon and others are like George's tard-wranglers that reeled in her excesses and amplified her good qualities.

I admit I'm pretty new to the thread, but I imagine there's other people who only stumbled upon it after Hazbin. She has a pretty deep internet footprint. I largely knew her from her webcomic days, but the only bit of drama I remembered from then is the character buying stuff.

I think it’s funny how the internet (even here, oddly enough) was absolutely glazing viv like a Krispy Kreme donut when the pilot was the only thing to go off of but now that she has to actually prove she can write everyone turned on her. Not me tho, I was a day 1 hater
I will say while I'm not a hater, the people who glazed the pilot who are saying how the show isn't like the pilot are kidding themselves.

While the voice acting in the pilot is different and there were more jokes in comparison to the actual series. There were still things that showed the series would be the way it is from the amount of cursing, shit load of characters (they teased like most of the cast in the pilot for shots that lingered a bit too long), and musical numbers (there were at least three songs in the pilot).

Hell Charlie's characterization of showing her being assertive against Katy is not even a real moment of characterization when you find out that whole bit was just a reference to the Scream movies since Charlie acts mostly similar in the rest of the pilot.

Show itself is mediocre at best, and if you really analyze the plot, it is not that stable.

Oh please do.

That's what's so frustrating about her work. She trips and stumbles over depth and makes some neat shit, but her execution is awful. She really needs a fucking editor with balls to tell her to shut up or just someone to ban her from writing her own characters. Tardwrangling could make her a Lucas of animation, but nobody has any standards for writing anymore so we're fucked.

I really liked "oh I'm already in hell, but let's get people out of it" as a premise. I still don't know how something that profound could be botched so badly, besides "autism and no standards."

I just realized that Hazbin and, to some extent, Helluva are reminiscent of virtually every Canadian animated (Mostly in Quebec) show from the late 90's to mid-2000's.
The speedrun pacing and bare minimum serviceable writing are what made those Canuckistan cartoons forgettable. If it weren't for those animated music videos that helped Viv
build a following, nobody would remember Hazbin and Helluva after a handful of years.

Viv's also very lucky that she's got Invader Zim fans and the furry community in conjunction with the internet overall. This is the equivalent of releasing a shitty video game in the early 80's, it'll be forgotten and you will likely go bankrupt. Now you have Steam which has virtually no risk in comparison. Make a terrible game and possibly gain infamy.

I wanted to like Hazbin and Helluva a lot, but I can only see them as average in virtually every aspect. When I heard of "Super Drags", I wanted to hate it. Ended up being surprised, it wasn't that bad nor preachy with its faggotry.

In hindsight, it's pretty easy to tell which lines in the pilot were written by Viv vs. written by Dave.

It really is. Ironically Vivziepop called Dave Capdievelle a bad writer; I assumed because the Johnny Test sound effects ( which was honestly annoying) was Dave's idea. Dave Capdievelle and Ashley Nichols are making a pilot for a new animation that I have more faith in because they are not ego driven like Vivziepop.

Dunno if this says anything about its cultural reach, but I'm at the local mall (yes, those still exist, and it is busy), and I saw someone with an Angel Dust T-shirt (it was a white androgynous woman, OFC)
I think I only ever saw people with HH/HB merch twice. One was at WDW in early 2020 (before the lockdowns), it was a bunch of pins on some guy's backpack. The other was an attack helicopter wearing an HB t-shirt at SGDQ. Outside of that, I haven't really seen anything. I'm honestly pretty surprised by that.
