This show has seriously put me off writing my own dark religious setting entirely. Especially considering the type of "never read the bible a day in my life" zoomer idiots latch onto anything vaguely edgy and condescending towards Catholicism. Makes me sad, but if I ever get back to writing I at least know what NOT to do as a writer. Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss are good at one thing: Being a bad example.

Goodbye Volcano High was a terrible "game" that was funded by the Canadian government and served no purpose other than to cram as many fags and troons into something resembling a "story" as much as possible. Woke propaganda that's even more empty and stupid than most.

And yet the characters and settings, even the trailer by itself, served as enough inspiration for vastly superior games, like Snootgame and I Wani Hug That Gator.

You know what, that's true, that's very true. That does rekindle the idea of working on my project. (Tentative name has always been "Hell's Gate" as a tongue in cheek reference to Heaven's Gate and their religious extremism but subject to change obviously.)

Maybe one of these days I'll sit down and start writing it again, I have all the world building for it said and done and written up, and the inspo comes from a few places but the biggest inspo is the phrase "Hell Is Other People." and the idea that Hell itself is a living, breathing entity caused partly in fact by mortals believing there is a terrible place after they die. Hell is Other People. (More or less the premise.)

I have absolutely zero remorse about liking him while admitting my tastes are awful. Angel Dust being a fun character (at least in the pilot) probably does it more than the design itself, he might as well be a human for me.

Off-topic from the horny talk, is it me or does the dialogue for the show feel...I guess slower would be the best word. Not like the characters themselves are speaking slower (or maybe they are), but the jokes and explaining stuff is dragged on way longer than they should. They repeat the same thing over and over again, just with different words. Or something that could have been funny just goes on 30 seconds longer than it should. Maybe I should watch some scenes from the pilot to compare, but from what I can remember, the line delivery was definitely snappier.

Dante Milton and Lewis should basically be your muses for writing good fiction about Hell. Less Dante because he's overdone but he's got interesting ideas still.
