Not to be nitpicking on your post @glass_houses but Angel Dust died when he was in his 30's. Which I don't blame you for not knowing, because that info was revealed way back, and it could have changed for all we know.

Which is one of the major issues I think people have with Hazbin Hotel. There is a lot of info, but a majority of it can only be found through livestreams, Twitter, patreon posts, convention qna's, etc.; both from the past and recent. And in the long run, all that supposedly important information isn't actually important because it's never shown in the actual material itself. Even worse, if the show contradicts the information that was given beforehand. So of course, you have all these different interpretations for the characters, lore, world building, and plot points, because no one know what this show is actually about. I sometimes think even Viv doesn't know what this show is about. Because she has all these ideas that she wants to share, and she can't just bare to cut off the ones that aren't needed.

And people can say that season 2 will be better, and that she is going to expand on the characters and ideas she introduced in season 1; but let's be honest with ourselves. Is she really going to do that? Or is she just going to add even more characters and ideas into this already bloated mess?

It doesn’t help her either when Amazon will probably give her eight episodes to work with, unless she gets more seasons which is possible if season 2 does as well as the first season. But I expect more characters since there’s Charlie’s High school rival, Angel’s sister, Eve and Roo, Lilith, and given her tendency to write things because of audience demand I won’t be surprised if Adam comes back.

@Hammersmith I think with a lot of the structural shit, it’s probably because of Lilith and was maybe for the sake of the hellborn rather than sinners.

Though with the worldbuilding in general, it’s clear that Vivzie is someone who prioritizes her characters more than the plot which could be fine, it’s just Hell is ripe for a lot of interesting worldbuilding

What a W move it'd be if CHADam came back, was sent to hell for being a twat, and he was more of a legit dickhead and threat than any character we've seen so far.

I want to see him roll up to the Vees like "okay this pussy shit gotta end" and completely take over the pride ring in four days (or six if you wanna be biblical about it) because he's still obsessed with eradicating sinners and now he has more access than ever.

They aren't gonna do that because Adam's too based and they can't handle actual assholes in Hell but it might make things interesting.

Adam is a moron who'd use a cannon to shoot a mosquito. He doesn't plan, doesn't negotiate, thinks with his dick instead of his brain, needs hundreds of brain washed battle whores to help him achieve anything, and is so pathetically socially inept that he needs a permanent minder to make sure that he doesn't embarrass himself in public. He's been cucked by both of his wives, and got the absolute fuck beaten out of him by the bloke who seduced them. His "method" of "fighting" is to find sinners too weak and too inexperienced to find a secure hole to hide in, and use his massive power advantage to pummel them. None of the overlords fear him or his battle whores, and that's because he and them are so fucking stupid that it's absurdly easy to out think them. All his kills are of weaklings. It's like a spree killer hitting a daycare centre and murdering a couple dozen toddlers, and proclaiming himself a warrior. He fought exactly one character who was his match in terms of power and lost in minutes because for all of his power, and all of the sinners that he's killed, he doesn't know how to fight. He just screams, "Hulk Adam smash!" and hits things with his guitar like it's a Who concert.

Adam is quite easily the worst character in Hazbin... he's insanely overpowered but is the embodiment of every single deadly sin rolled into one, and he's supposed to illustrate how Heaven is full of hypocrites or something? But instead he's the standard American frat boy clone from every single 80s and 90s college movie. Personality? What personality? Who needs one of those?

If sinners cant change then the premise is impossible from the start. Not saying sinners need to get radical personality shifts but they aren't "the same forever". Angel and Husk are clear example of sinners who got """wiser""" and Pentius went to heaven. Characters obviously capable of development and would change over their immortal hell life.

And yall are overthinking Velvette. The woman only exists because

1-Vivzie is obcessed with villain dynamics and she needs someone be the "straight guy" to vox and val.
2-Be an "important woman" so Vivzie can say she's not mysoginist
3-Have another female singer
4-There was no one to tard wrangle vivzie and stop her from bloating the cast

Note that Velvette is the only one of the V's without any actual tie to the hotel itself, while Vox has with Alastor and Val with Angel. You can take velvette out of season 1 and nothing changes. Velvette personality isnt even consistent with her few scenes. She tells Carmine that she is willing to wage war against heaven and has a "full assault" plan but when the extermination happens she has zero lines and is bored, watching it on tv.

The whole exterminator killing plot was enormous waste of screentime for everyone involved. All it did was accelerate the next extermination and that was irrelevant as we get a 6 month timeskip anyway.

@glass_houses Buddy you just described *all* of Hazbin's characters. You perfectly encapsulated why Adam would be amazing in Hell, it's because he's literally just a gold/white version of any other hellspawn. All the overlords and shit in Hell are already complacent, incompetent, effeminate complainers so why not let the stupid frat boy character come in and jock the place up?

Also you're wrong, Vaggie is the worst character in Hazbin. Literally nothing about her regarding what we're given about context, writing and story works in the show. Adam's a dipshit but he's there to attempt to rush some of the story beats along. Vaggie could be removed in her entirety and nothing of value would be lost.

All of the stuff about the Vees not acting their age has reminded me of Vivzie apparently comparing Valentino to Karen from Mean Girls and fucking Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls. Or maybe she liked tweets about that, I don’t fucking remember and I don’t feel like digging. Least I’ve got is this.

If that one bit is true, way to disrespect your fucking cat by making a rapist inspired by him.

You could say the same thing about Cherri Bomb. She literally has no business being a character in the show. She adds nothing which furthers the plot, being a "love interest" is a nothingburger and has no personality traits (unless you count wacky, party girl, and violent as those?). Just wasted air time on her.
Perhaps I was too hasty about the love interest part, maybe we'll see in season 2 Pentious trying to get back to hell to see the love of his life!! I swear, if that happens...

Her two personalities are British and being loud and presentable. That's it.

Oh and Sir Pentious' love for some reason. A ship more useless and unnecessary than Stolitz, and that's saying a lot. Though, wouldn't call it a canon one since I don't think Cherri Bomb reciprocated the feelings back.

I'd argue that, at least for the main plot of season, 1 aka "find someone redeemable to stop the extermination", most of the female cast outside Charlie, Serah and lute is irrelevant, underdeveloped and could've been cut out only requiring a few rewirites (yes, even carmine). As funny as Nifty is, she really is one joke character.

Cherri is a different kind of pointless tho cause i get this vibe she was originally a random OC that Vivzie forced into the hotel last minute in order to call her a "protagonist" and sell waifu merch.

Sallie May is kinda similar, she only exists within this external bubble of another character development but there sure is official merch of her in dick bulge bikinis...

@didelphigina it is beyond me why people like yourself insist on getting so involved in shit you don't even like.
I try to avoid giant textwalls overinterpreting things, but I think a lot of it is disappointment for something that had great potential that was squandered.

Yeah. The worst part of being a fan of this show is knowing you can't really do anything to fix it, so you're just left rambling about things you know won't be solved or fixed whatsoever. A great show squandered heavily and all I can do is talk about its woes and not trying to break the reply function again as I am reminded of those squanders.

funny you should say that.....

This incarnation of the character was actually supposed to be Angel Dust's DAUGHTER, believe it or not. Another interesting concept that's rife with good story ideas that Vivienne just tossed to the wayside for the sake of her low-stakes, no-effort, rushed story.

Haven't checked this thread in a while. Did I miss anything important?
Probably not. Unless you're really behind and don't knew that the main show got picked up and there's episodes available (but you have to pay), and it's not very well written.

Don't know when you last appeared here but Viv's Stolitz imp melodrama show recently got a new episode after early a year since the last one. To no one's surprise here, it was fujo fodder. But hey, we got the cherubs and dhorks back for the time being. The show will forget them for the rest of the season, anyway. Had to enjoy them as long as it lasted.

Oh, and Vivzie been in some hot water (when doesn't she at this point?) with her terrible response to people's reasonable anger toward their cup orders still not being received even after months of payment. She responded by roleplaying as Husk and thought people would eat up her insanely unprofessional auto-email. They did eat it up, but not in the way she expected. I forgot the exact tweet that really blew up about it, but I'll edit this message if I do find it.
