  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.

I'm not sure if i like these colors on our OC but it was worth a try.

I do. It was spread all over Reddit. It’s the official page for the hazbin thread on /trash/ that @Kid Named Rocket keeps going on about. Some of their fanfiction recordings are interesting and you can watch both series on site.

I completely forgot about this shitshow of a series until the leaks. Jesus they were bad.
Be sure to add "s2/s2leaks" to the end of the URL because there is no direct link to it on the website.

Interesting Ao3 Ship stats for most written ships in 2024

9 place: Huskerdust enters the top 100 this year, right above the iconic hermione/draco.

12 place: Radio Apple (lucifer x alastor) was a ship no one expected but turned way too huge really fast, despite only having one episode and no intentional romantic teasing.

13 place: Despite being more bland than vanilla, Chaggie is the highest lesbian ship this year! But i don't buy this is due to popularity. I think it's only this high because they're a canon couple and get tagged in the yaoi fics, inflating the numbers.

26 place: Stolitz enters the top 100 for the first time, proving it wasn't that popular before 2024 when it grew fast enough to achieve mainstream popularity and the most clicked media on Fandom. Really proves how people only watch for stolitz at this point.

33 place: Alastor/Vox is here proving that all you need to have top ship is 2 edgy guys hating each other.

edit: 51 place: I missed Valentino/Vox! I might be super wrong but i also get the feeling they're written more as background gays.

63 place: Ozzy/Fizz spot might not sound impressive but it is when you remember these are side characters and the majority of the list is main characters.

There is no Alastor/Angeldust anymore making it clear that ship is trully dead.

My main takeaway is that i can definitely see Vivzie pandering to Alastor/Lucifer and Alastor/vox shippers if not in season 2 then on season 3. Not canonizing or something too extreme but i expect moments of "yaoi sexual tension" (the alastor leaks with vox might be that).

Never underestimate how many shippers are into people who hate each other eventually hooking up, it's the whole reason why Cherri x Pentious was made official despite them not really being rivals in the series like they were in the pilot.

Oh i'd never do that, but even by hater standards i find Alastor/Vox is, as of now, lazy as fuck. They have a song but their rivalry isn't developed and Vox was irrelevant in season 1 and doesn't care about the hotel. Vox in general feels like he was surgically designed to be Alastor rival and generate gay fanfic fuel for a fandom that doesn't look at anything beyond surface level dynamics and writes them out of character. (Modern shipping culture is scary with how many people dont even consume the source material)

It's like vivzie didn't even try at all because she already knows the bare minimum toxic yaoi is enough to please. She might not even have planned their backstory and will write from shipper theories.

A part of shipping culture is that people would sometimes ship characters who have any implied chemistry to even just standing next to each other, or having one interaction.

Shippers would ship characters from different series who have some things in common, its just how weird shipping culture is.

U missed Valentino/Vox at 51 btw

Oh i'm well aware but i still think shipping culture changed overtime.

Did you know the biggest detroit Become human ship is of 2 irrelevant guys who never met each other? It's the guy who has like 3 secenes and hates android and the android that appears in one ending. It's popularity hinges completely on "two man would dislike each other = yaoi sexual tension fanfic fodder" but by that point you're writing OCs.

This is not to say shippers were sane back then but it felt like they at least engaged with the source material while nowadays people ship for the sake of shipping. Like, do you think all the Soap/Ghost fanfic writers and tiktok fangirls ever touched a call of duty game?

I blame this on internet culture shifting in general into "fandom culture". You can be a rwby roleplayer without ever watching rwby, an undertale AU artist without ever playing undertale and a harry potter fanfic writer without ever reading the books. At some point you wonder if something is popular due to it's own sucess or it's own self sustaining fandom.

Going back on topic, Hazbin itself is the perfect example. It had a fandom before the show existed and there are definitely hazbin fans who never watched the show but watched some alastor/lucifer tiktok and went to search fanfics for it.

I even saw some people on sarcastic chorus comment section saying they dont even watch helluva boss but watch his videos to see their opinion on it lol.

Stella is a horrible person and I hate her but she still didn't deserve to be cheated on and publicly humiliated by her faggot husband beclowning himself for a literal clown.
Wouldn't it make more sense to have most characters just be irredeemably immoral? It could be Always Sunny in Philadelphia cranked up to 11. I think that may have been what they were originally going for, as in episode 2, Stolas was explaining to Stella that he didn't have time to go to a motel, which might imply that this sort of behavior was expected, but Stella's issue seems to be a matter of pride, comparing him to a plebian, calling him an embarrassment, and taking issue with an affair with a low-class imp.

All of Stolas's problems are of his own creation, all of Stella's problems are because Stolas is gay and can't control himself. It's weird how they attempt to paint her as the abuser, and him as the victim when it's the other way around. It's like the show is a psy-op to demoralize women.
it's less to demoralize women and more "the guy that was the comically fucked up degen sex pest elite the main guy fucking hated now is totally wholesome gay lover the whole time so we need to make everyone around him worse so you hopefully forget" type shit.

It's not even that, Vivzie just needed cheap ways to make Stolas seen as sympathetic since he was more morally fucked up in the first season.

Season 1 was a comedy so Stella's actions were really comedic and the most earnest stuff she did (that wasn't played for laughs) was take Octavia away for the weekend, tell Stolas to check on their daughter in a flashback, and hire Striker (that last one is a maybe since it was also played comedically).
You think they're just gonna claim season 1 in it's entirety was "never canon" sometime soon like thy did with the first episode? The fucking characters are obliterated at this point beyond recognition in some cases.

Huh, wonder if my story is in that listing, especially since Stolitz isn't even a huge focus, more like a brief mention.

That show has gone to shit and the tonal whiplash from the pilot to now is immense. I have been sent several leaks regarding it, but out of all of the ones I received I have only put up the two images of the courtroom from the penultimate season 2 episode, there was one sent as well around that time, a grey-and-white clip with Stolas and Octavia saying "You never loved me or my mother, you only ever loved him." which did end up being in the last episode of season 2, however at that point I already gave up all faith in that show.
A pilot should show what the show will be about without doing a 360 degree backwards moonwalk all of a sudden.

At least Hazbin Hotel has a chance at being good due to better supervision due to Amazon and A24 of Viv and higher-ups fixing her blunders, but we'll have to wait and see.
If season 2 ends up as much of a blunder as season 1 is then I am giving up hope entirely.

I gave up hope on hazbin when they fucking ditched the entire team and cast of newgrounds people for outsourced animation studios and broadway people. that was like THE appeal behind it on top of the fluid animation. Said it before but it's really funny to me how Joe got proven right about all this shit with him basically being used.
Both of these were like solid comedy series ideas subverted into current year soap opera melodrama goyslop and it fucking hurts, ESPECIALLY with the boss show because that went one full "season" before going off the railsinto what both became.

I genuinely liked the pilot too, moreso for Hazbin as it showed a more militaristic approach by the exorcists in the pilot. The pilot designs for characters AND the city as well were much better along with the voice actors.
But Viv is not a person that likes keeping people around, simply look at how many animators or storyboard artists she went through in Season 1, it was more than some shows went through during their entire life cycle.

Do you or does anyone else think the Italian animation studio "DogheadAnimation" "hack" was seriously a hack at all? It was simply someone pissed off at the way they were being treated, which is both funny and sad since Viv has Italian ancestry herself.

I mean people have assumed that the people were underpaid and yet stans think "NUUU NUUU LEAKS! IT RUINS TEH HARD WORK OF THE ANIMATORS!@!!2222!!!112121111!" like did you ever think the leaks came from a underpaid animator? This just translates into "Viv worked really hard on it!"

Yeah if that means lifting from her fans while also stealing art and selling it on her merch post, then she is "working hard" it's clear she has an ulterior motive, she wants to speedrun her way into the spotlight because she's a fame whore. I don't think she cares about Indie Animators and rather she wants to make it seem like she does but after Lack a Daisy Slighted her she started crusading and allowing her group to be pieces of shit.

I honestly don't think Amazon nor A24 give that much of a crap. A24 just cares of pumping out whatever "avangarde" stuff they can get their hands on (sometimes it pans out, other times its eyerolling and pretentious dreck), while Amazon mostly cares about numbers. One COULD make the argument that Amazon stepped in during S1 and only gave the team 8 Episodes for a season, BUT since the show did prove to be a money in the bank, we still apparently getting 8 eps in S2 and doesn't seem like Viv even tried to fight for more episodes.

I won't be shocked that she's also seething superhard that Digital Circus is doing numbers around her, hell she's prob even mad that Metal Family is also gettin' some good attention. Lackadaisy is def on her chopping block and prob gonna be for a good while.
