Vassago to me feels like the male counterpart of Emberlynn; an stand-in for the fanbase, but whereas Ember was a negative take on it, Vas shows the "positive" side by supporting Stolas all the way and probably will keep supporting him in S3 on his relationship with Blitzo.

Notice that both characters seem to have a parasocial relationship with one of the 2 leads (yes, let's not kid ourselfs Stolas is pretty much a main character now) but only one, the female curiously, is shown as a creep with no shame on her one-side obsession.

Vassago could also be a convenient way for Stolas to get his power back before his punishment is over. He really has no purpose outside of being a DeviantArt OC that really likes Stolas for some reason.

I've been thinking about what even is the role of Vassago in the HB series, who the fuck is he and why should i, as the audience, give a damn about him? who invited bro to the party?

In his debut, we only see him fanboy-ing for Stolas and getting mad at Andre. From what was shown to us, we can gather that his character apparently has a strong sense of justice (wanting Stolas present at the trial from the start) and that he speaks spanish, cool, and then? He get's sidelined for the rest of the episode and that's it.

I understand this was his first appearance in the series (and in the story as a whole), but i'm not alone in thinking this was a very weak way to introduce a supposedly very important character down the line into the show, right?

In their respective debuts, Robo-Fizz hinted that something fucky happened around the time Blitz left the circus life and became an assasin, Stella and Octavia show us that Stolas has a family, Striker introduces angelic weapons to HB and the hellish-caste system to an extend, Fizzarolli shows us he has some kind of past with Blitz, Crimson reveals Moxxie's mafia past. But the fuck does Vassago reveal or show that's new to us? That he has some kind of past with Andre? that's the only thing i can think of, and i'm not sure if it even applies, because maybe Vassago is too justice autistic to demand a fair trial that he would call out anyone.

Why was Vassago the one to call for Stolas to appear in the trial and not Ozzie? the one character we actually see Stolas interact with once, and the one who gave him the crystal thing for Blitz?

Also, so much for supporting Stolas, because Vassago doesn't even get a mention in the sinsmas episode, did he reach out to Stolas in any way after that? who knows.

Vassago exists so the fujo fangirls can have another character they love outside of the main two and squee at them.

Basically Viv wanted to add a love triangle to season 3 so we can prolong the will they/won't they plotline with Stolas and Blitzø. Because that sort of story has NEVER made a show worst before. Even though adding Vassago seems pretty pointless in the long run and he breaks an already established narrative, WHO CARES? He'll add shipping drama. Then after that whole ordeal is done he can get paired with Andrealphus because they're both gay. And that means Andrealphus will be the one to get a redemption arc. Because fuck women! (Not in the sexual way though, because these fujoshis don't want that shit.)

If Vassago exists to be in a love triangle, than it further makes this character the most pointless thing Vivzie has ever created

Vassago feels like a fanfiction OC that was canonized at the last minute because he displays so much personality within 30 seconds that you can just tell someones using him as a self insert.

Vassago could've easily just been Stolas' friend. They're both goetia, so it wouldn't be too hard to explain how they became mutual acquaintances.

No need to give him an involved backstory. His relationship to Stolas could be explained in one or two lines of dialogue and suddenly he'd be less of an author-insert and more of a character.

Until proven otherwise i'll believe that Vassago is a kickstarter OC from someone who paid vivzie to add their own goetia Owlsona with Kamina shades. He's literally "Main character secret friend who never appeared before and suddendly defends the MC in place of canon character".

One of the undercomplained things about Vassago is that he speaks spanish for no logical reason beyond "Vivzie thinks swearing in spanish is hilarious" (valentino and the mexican family in the shorts).

And yeah, you can call me petty and say all hell speaking english is arbitrary sure but one universal language makes sense. Vassago is not human so how does he even know how to speak spanish? This is not a Goetia thing and he's not a spanish demon so it's unlikely to be his first language. Did he hire a sinner to teach him? Why? What does he gain from it besides swearing in a way so no one around him understands?

At best vassago was created for the sake of cast bloat and sell merch. MAYBE if he's popular he gets a backstory episode with Stolas since this is The Stolas Show now.

You can say this for most characters, really. They're all meant to be as merch-approved as possible. The ones Vivziepop don't feel are merch-approved get kicked to the curb and have no relevance beyond making some quips, like Mammon.

I'd say Chaz, Glitz+Glam, Vassago and emberlynn are the only cases of "literally made just to sell merch" since they seem specifically designed to appear pretty in their introduction episode and nothing else. I didnt see any valentine merch of the ghostfuckers nightmare demon, which ironically proves he was written to be a good antagonist first and delivers that.

Its not like season 2 had many new characters (compared to merch driven stuff) and the new ones that matter are clearly built to last (Crimson, Mammon, Andre).

Helluva is just kinda fucked cause it's cast is bloated but vivzie also wants these fuckers to keep returning so the only way to fit enough episodes is combining antagonists (striker+crimson, striker+andre, dhorks+cherubs) and injecting barbie or gay drama in the joke episodes. Season 3 will struggle to balance newcomers so we'll probably see more oneshot characters made just to sell merch.

And yeah the fact that he speaks spanish is weird but then again Stolas and his family talk in a british accent and I swear that Andre also talks in another language when he was being provoked by Vassago in Mastermind but I can't be bother to check, so maybe in the hellaverse the Goetia are multicultural I guess.

Yep, Vassago was originally an overlord. So was Stolas.
Viv just essentially reused both designs for Helluva Boss. While it worked for Stolas, it definitely didn't work for Vassago who isn't even a bird. Why even say the ars goetias are different species, when you're obviously just making them birds?

Blitzo and Striker

I unironically really enjoy Strikers design in the show and it's something unique and is actually more pleasant to look at with the grays and unique skin for him. Plus the cowboy look is something striking, props for the character designer who made him. It sure as hell wasn't Viv.

Blitzos isn't too bad either. Alot of it is his wardrobe doesn't make one think he's a clown, the first time I saw him he was giving me school shooter edgy Coldsteel the Hedgehog vibes with his tattered trenchcoat. But the colors for him are limited and the shape language isn't awful.

Is suppose to resemble a lizard Viv stated but doesn't look like one. He instead reminds me of Rodger from American Dad with horns/ a Xenomorph with his long dick head
Wardrobe doesn't communicate his past life
The crest on his head is distracting and ugly looking, as well as it's not communicated in the story what the hell that thing is/ and why only some of the performers get branded.
Too much detail on the tail with the blacks and so many spikes
Spikes on forehead look really off and aren't consistent in the show so at points it makes it look like he's growing hair or he's fucking trans.
Hands look odd as they have burns on his forearms, but his fingers are fine in the fire..? That doesn't make much sense

Striker
Has a weird rattle noise he's suppose to resemble a rattle snake..? Doesn't really look like it.
Common trait of gold tooth (which breaks the country vibe imo)
The excess spikes on his tail are distracting
His horns aren't the best as they look just like Moxxies, thus making him less unique.
Clothing colors blend in sometimes making it hard to know what body part is out.
Random stitch marks will make it harder to animate/stay consistent
His feet look very odd aren't really cowboyish but look like he's wearing heels.

Redo Blitzo

Gave him more lizard like features (claws, smaller sharp teeth, changed face/head, adjusted his spikes, and gave him scales)
Redesigned his outfit as it currently looks more like an outfit a butler would wear. Ironic as he now is Stolas's butler
Gave him dark blues and purples to match his master Stolas.
Stolas forces his servants to wear uniforms with his marking on them to show that they are his property.
Doesn't give them shoes and instead shoe chaps as Imps have hooves. Showing that Stolas degrades them by making them serve him "barefoot".
Stolas makes Blitzo/ his Imps cover all their scars as he finds them disgusting. Blitzo however being his favorite "pet" has a less restricted dress code, and is able to show his face and tail which are the most damaged parts of his body.
Took away the headmark it gives no use instead, I was thinking on his chest Stolas brands his Imps it would be Stolas Sign.
Tail is now damaged and burned.
Gave a more consistent color palette and less details/ playing with his shape

Redo Striker
His horns are broken (adding onto when in the show he had alot of things taken from him/ other people he cared about) in my version he would have been in a farming family as all the Wrathians make food for the other rings. Goetia come and collect the food from the farmers, and if they didn't have enough crops they would break the whole families horns as punishment. Thus it would be public humiliation/ they lose the ability to defend themselves from other creatures in the Wrath ring which would lead them to die off quicker. Showing he rose above their punishment/has a purpose and goal to avenge the family who died because of them/ and spits in the face of the Goetia who think that they can do that to Imps just because they are "inferior".
Gave him more unique clothing (chaps, vest, spurs, a belt) / better color scheme.
Gave him more Rattlesnake features tweaking the head, long black forked tongue, tail being larger than other imps, snake scales and his huge fangs that produce venom. Giving him toxic spit/ a venomous bite.
Gave him a beard noticed Viv doesn't like to add facial hair to many characters.

This one wasn't a huge glow up like the others still fun, and i really enjoyed how this one turned out.

Well, what is this retcon now? How does the Overlord x GeishaGoetia scale of power work? Could TV man take down the faggot bird without breaking a sweat?

Lore-wise, Goetia are supposed to be above Overlords in terms of power, but it's really inconsistent and unclear. For example, Alastor is clearly not operating at full power in S1 of Hazbin, so would him being able to go 100% again put him above the Goetia?
And for that matter, Overlords are shown pulling off better feats – TV man causes a city-wide blackout in his sperg rage at the end of Stayed Gone; Carmilla is agile enough to outmaneuver and oneshot an Exorcist; Alastor, even when not at full power, scores dozens of angel kills and even manages to survive an encounter with CHADam (by running like a bitch once his staff breaks, but still).
Meanwhile, the Goetias' best showing is in Stolas vs DHORKS, and... that's pretty much it. Stolas jobs to Striker with a bundle of Angelic rope (?????); Andre - in his full demon form, mind you – loses to four Hellborn and a depowered Stolas, which is basically the equivalent of Lucifer getting jumped and beaten up by a bunch of humans. It's just fucking stupid.
