Now that Nick Bate is in jail, we should take a look to an enabler of his shitty behavior that is a hardcore lolcow in their own right.

Many people in the original Nick Bate thread were confused why Nick referred to his biological mother as "B-Mum". Nick considered his real parents to be two internet friends that often white knighted and asspatted him while "helping him" in a manner that quite possibly delayed his arrest.

His "Mommy" is Jessa, a Canadian girl who often asspatted him and gave him advice. Even though Nick considered her his "mommy" he often solicited her for sex on twitter. Jessa has since disappeared after deleting her twitter and it is unknown if she still maintained contact with Sick Nick.

Nick's "Dad" is slightly more remarkable. Originally named "Thom" and within the past couple years transitioning to "Heather Quinnell", is definitely a lolcow on their own. Quinnell constantly gave Nick advice and enabled his shitty behavior such as helping cover up Nick's bragging about molesting his sister. AwfulHorse tweets incessantly to the point of reaching the limit, which makes me assume they live on a sweet European socialist tugboat.

Here's some intel from the Nick Bate thread that provides more background info:

I've been following the Nick Bate thread for sometime now, but I finally decided to join when this guy got brought up. I've known of Thom for awhile, and as some background, he was apart of (or atleast associated with) "Laissez Faire", a SomethingAwful subforum shut down several years ago. It was renowned as a concentration and breeding ground for far left/SJW types (and lunatics), and it and it's offshoots being among the most dysfunctional communities in the history of SA. It's members and people they've picked up since then have been very influential in spreading SJW trash across the internet, particularly hellholes like SRS and the insufferable "weird twitter" scene. They frequently congregate in these secret clubhouse forums like wddp.org (which have been known to collapse due to infighting because of just how many crazies post there ) and on twitter in these circlejerks that revolve around their terrible ironic anime humor and the fact they unabashedly live on twitter (and in many cases their forums, to top it off- note the member to post ratio on WDDP). As horrifying as Thom's nearly half a million tweets are, there's many others like him in this scene who tweet virtually 24/7 with tens of thousands or more tweets under their belts, and many of them have "twitter jail" accounts they resort to when they use up their daily tweet limit. This is one of Thom's possibly many twitter jail accounts. I wouldn't be surprised if he culmulatively has close to 1 million tweets.

Thom isn't the worst of the LF subset (although he is undoubtedly very insane), but he's probably the most obnoxious, which really says a lot. And as awful as he is, it really struck me to first see him, sometime last year, conversing on a normal level with Nick Bate. From time to time, I'd see people openly question why the fuck he's talking to a blatant, irredeemable monster like Nick, and nearly every single time, he'd chidingly wave them off. Once, however, he actually answered someone confronting him, and he apparently acts as some sort of internet guardian to him and helps keep him out of trouble- I think in that conversation, he claimed he played a major role in informing Amber's parents of what Nick did and getting her away from him or something along those lines. Beyond that, I have no idea the full scope of their relationship, though there's comments from him on Nick's last.fm profile stretching back to 2010 or even 2009.

I decided to look around for anything more recent (last conversation I saw between them was a few months ago atleast), and it turns out Thom is aware of Nick's arrest:


The person who brings it to his attention calls Thom out on his relationship with him, and Thom, once again, basically tells them to fuck off- but also mentions how he's known Nick for a decade. Nick's online insanity stretches back around that far, and I can only imagine what he's been witness to. Out of all the discussion and material I've seen on Nick, I've almost never seen Thom's role or name pop up, and I'm really curious to see what anybody else knows or can dig up.

Hello, dear cishet white male reader! I’m sure you’re excited to see an article called “On Social Justice”, and you’re probably hoping to get some arguments from this that you can use to dismiss marginalized people. Sadly, this isn’t for you.

Is everyone else still here? Good. Today I want to talk about a thing that’s been troubling me and my friends. I’m sure more people worry about it, but I can’t know their motives. The thing is SOCIAL JUSTICE.

A glorious future awaits
Don’t get me wrong though. I am thrilled about where we’re going. I genuinely feel that a critical mass of young people who reject our global cishet neoliberal patriarchal hegemony1 has arisen, and that this nonsense is finally going to end. When I see young kids reject things forced upon them in a way that I would have struggled to do even a few years ago, I’m filled with hope.

So why am I worried then?

The problem with the term “social justice” lies in how nebulous it is. It has a storied use, from catholic liberation theology to American civil rights struggles. But today, its definition is murky. Most people appear to mean “combat every oppression”.

That’s great! But could this be harmful? I believe so. The fact that we can’t all decide what this movement is – and who it is for – means that a lot of the time, people who shouldn’t be talking are talking.

In the past, we’ve seen this in other places. “Feminist” men have talked over women, and used their clout to cover up their own abuses. Tim Wise has been talking over people of colour about their actual experiences for a long time now. The Tim Wise section of this article is short, because the safe zone between “white people calling out their own” and “white people talking like they’re real experts on this” is fairly small.

Luckily, we seem to be rejecting that such people have a place in movements that aren’t about them. Even self-labeling as an “ally” is decreasing. These are good developments!

But what happens when we allow “social justice” to encompass all of our struggles? Our oppressors would relish such an ill-defined movement to dominate. Even well-meaning people, who would never pretend to be authorative on subjects that don’t concern them, are lulled into complacency by “social justice” and begin stepping over the line.

Our movements should not resemble mainstream discourse, but yet this is happening. Newspapers still publish op-eds about trans people written by cis people. And now, cis “social justice” bloggers believe they have any place talking about the specifics of trans oppression2.

It also makes it hard to DEFEND social justice. When MRAs strawman feminism, it is easy to pick apart their ridiculous arguments, because I know what feminism IS. If someone claims “all social justice ~warriors~ are shrieking fools who know nothing”, I don’t know who they encountered, and what it was about. For all I know, all they’ve seen is some asshole’s blog. I can’t know! And so, I can’t accurately defend social justice.

Many of my friends begrudgingly allow others to label them as someone who does “social justice”. Not me.

As a woman, I am a feminist.

As a trans person, I am a trans activist.

As a hella queer trans lady, I am a queer activist3

As an inhabitant of a western capitalist liberal democracy (from which I benefit), I am a communist.

To call myself a “social justice” anything would erase those realities of my existence.

Privilege Rock Paper Scissors
The absolute scourge of the wider “social justice” community has been a dynamic I call “privilege rock paper scissors”. This is essentially the post-intersectional version of privilege checklists. Here, an attempt IS made to acknowledge how privilege intersects, but with a caveat. Some oppressions, you see, are worse than others.

This is the absolute worst thing you could possibly introduce into a shared struggle. I have seen trans people be racist at transphobic poc. I have seen people reject that they are cis or have cis privilege because of their oppressions. This dynamic allows for the arbitrarily silencing of voices. The discipline of not letting people speak about things they don’t experience is here extended to not allowing those oppressed on one axis to call out those oppressed on another (‘worse’) one. This does nothing but help abusers.

Shared struggles
So should feminism exist in isolation from other struggles? Should I learn nothing about things that Aren’t My Business? No. Learn. Let them impact your feminism. But let it be feminism. Let your communism be influenced by feminism, but let it be communism. Allow the voices the society you live in drowns out to reach you, and make them part of your queer activism. But let it be queer activism.

I feel that wrapping everything up in the package of Social Justice prevents this. It makes some complacent. “Oh, someone else is handling this”, you might think. But we all need to be handling this. If our individual struggles all obstruct each other, we won’t get anywhere. They must march together, but with many flags.

The Young Social Justice Warrior
But some of you feel at home in social justice. It is your movement. You have found the tools and friends to change the world, and by god, you’re going to do it. And I am proud of you.

When I was a young piece of shit on the Internet, I had no good intentions. I had no desire to change anything, because it was easier to have fun. I would have laughed at you, and you would have fought me. You would have won.

When I see people shit on “social justice warriors” – young teens who have found a voice that is far more radical than mine ever was at that age – I feel angry. It’s the same kind of anger I feel when feminists are mocked, or when cis queers tell trans people to please shut up and focus on Important Things.

Don’t let them tell you that. You are every bit as good as us, and you will surpass us.

3. I often advocate a break between the LGBQ movement and the trans rights movement. I often wonder how valid it is for there to be an “LGBT” movement in places where there is no historical precedent for it. Cis white gay men run the show, and they have absolutely no intention to let anyone else get in. My only personal reason for keeping LGBT is to not allow the erasure of the trans people who fought at Stonewall. Would this make us weaker? I don’t know. But any support and compassion I’ve received from cis queers has come from my friends, not from Lg(b)* org workers. Also, I will pretty much always use “queer” over “LGBT”. ↩

TL;DR - This person has known Nick Bate for nearly 10 years and has been his friend despite knowing Nick to be a pedo. That alone makes them worthy of mockery and derision.
