Helldivers 2 - Hell is more diverse than ever as PlayStation's demographics continue to grow and change.

Bot missions are a kind of brutal I was woefully unprepared for.

I'll stick rank 5 bug hunts until I can get a buddy who wants to tandem with the recoilless.

Fucking commie robots, attacking our rightfully liberated planets...
The Automaton assault on Xzar has been brutal; civvie missions up the ass, tons of Berserkers and Raider squadrons causing trouble, and just trying to keep said civvies alive is an exercise in pain

I mean, it's a good pain, but it's pain nonetheless. Game is fun as fuck though.
Agreed, a good 2 man squad is all you need to have a blast and a good 4 man is amazing

Can't wait for mechs, vehicles and faction #3

Tried it last night. Took a rocket to the face from a friend. Got launched through the air, steam gave me an achievement for it.

10/10
Similar experience last night for me as well: I was assisting my homie with killing a giant bug. I walked behind him as he was firing and I was launched by 30 ft. Very Kino experience

Yeah all the doomers in this thread were dead wrong. The game is extremely popular and a lot of fun.
I'm enjoying it so far. It's definitely best to play with a buddy or a few. Some friends of mine picked it up and I did so as well. The friendly fire shit can lead to some hilarity. The battle pass shit is gay but it hasn't put a downer on my gameplay so I'm not worried about it. The pressing issue has been the online - trying to join up with friends sometimes the shit just doesn't work. But it looks like they're actively working to get it fixed, looks like they didn't expect it to be this much of a hit.

One thing I noticed about the paid battle pass is that you can collect almost enough credits to get it on the free one.....and it's possible to find credits during mission.

So by the time you max out the free one you should have enough credits to get the paid one.

Yeah Ive played a fair bit, and ive been able to get some of the cosmetic skins and plan on getting the BP when I max out the free pass. Supercredit seem to be VERY abundant at higher difficulties. Im still a little salt about the DRM but the cash shop is great for what it is. Hopefully they can figure out their servers so matchmaking can work again, I want to go bananners on some bugs.

I don't know. While some of my friends who were done with 4 player horde co-op, that said they'd never touch this p2w crap, did cave and buy it.

I'm curious to see how this will last. Something about the popularity feels ...off.

Given how people on Reddit? Twitter? Supposedly people somewhere are celebrating Palworld being a "dead game" despite still being more popular than Suicide Squad was at it's peak. So I don't know what makes a game "popular" any more.

Its really isn't hard to understand after playing a few rounds. Hell Divers 2 is a extremely loving made (the quality of animation for things you think they would cheap out on is amazing) game that is feels like playing Starship Troopers The Movie. The whole game swings between the jokey tone of the opening cutscenes (the VO lines, blowing up your friends with a badly thrown airstrike) to some of the most nail biting action I've played in the last couple of years. All accomplished by a dynamic soundtrack that feels like the Klendathu Drop each and every time.

And each mission ends with the cherry on top of the 2 min countdown extraction that makes any mission feel that extra bit of adrenaline to make it to the end. Plus the physics and gameplay really lend it to funny clips on instagram and youtube. Can't want to see the Russian Badger make a video on it.

It's warframe but not retarded with dailies.

Give it plot quests and it'll fucking last, and considering these guys aren't doing the retarded "cthulu is allergic to love" schtik the plot is ezpz.

No someone establish melee, I want to supplex an exploding bug into a bug nest like it's basketball.

I think this is a classic example of small/indie companies beating AAA. Helldivers 2's playercount reached 270,000 concurrent players which is actually higher than Halo Infinite at its peak.

We live in a society where a $40 double-A game gets more players than Microsoft's free-to-play flagship title. :story:
Helldivers isn't even a recognizable IP like Halo. :story:

Really enjoying the game, when it works. Quick play has been broken since last night it seems. Hope they are able to get this sorted.

Calling in walking barrage on mech bases, and ordering cluster bombs on bugs is hilarious fun. As said above, they put alot of love into this game. Watching bugs and mechs literally fall apart as you blast them doesn't get old and makes the shooting feel really good.

I also think the monetization is pretty fair so far. Hope it stays that way.
