Had a match where the game decided to throw me a network error as soon as the Eagle has landed and opened its doors. Not only I got scammed out of the rewards on a Helldive but also 20+ samples I was carrying vanished into thin air.

FUCK THIS GAME.

Major order completed, undemocratic naysayers and doomposters felted.
My fellow hell divers proved me wrong. I am eating crow. Admittedly.

This gets less painful as you finish buying all the useful ship upgrades over time. I have all t3 upgrades and 2 t4 ones and i kind of feel like the rest of them aren't useful so i'll just eventually get them whenever the sample counts get high enoughb ut i'm not sweating it.

So out of all the Warbonds so far is Cutting Edge still the best? Maxed out the free one and I'm liking the Sickle when I pick it up randomly in missions.
It is really up to your playstyle.

If you want a primary assault rifle type such as sickle, go with the Cutting Edge

However, if you want a primary sniper that could get a lot of job done (AOE damage, one-shot stalker, and close the bug holes/automaton factories), then you should pick Democratic Detonation

In my opinion, the grenade pistol + the eruptor in Democratic Detonation is the better warbond than cutting edge, because the grenade pistol could make your strategem build more flexible

Pretty much, the Incendiary Breaker, JAR5-Dominator and the Incendiary Grenade are the highlights of Steeled Veterans.

All the battle packs have something meta in terms of loadout (ignoring armor, it's not a reason to buy any of them):
  • Breaker Incendiary pairs well with longer range stuff like AMR/AC and has great close/medium range clear (bugs only)
  • Sickle is the best AR (great feel, fire rate, accuracy, nearly unlimited ammo) but lacks medium penetration and has a slight spin up/needs to be pre-fired
  • JAR5 is the a bit sluggish and has a slow projectile but shreds medium armor (if you liked the slugger this is the more cumbersome replacement) and works well on either front
  • Eruptor is fun, has a lot of utility, pairs well with closer range support weapons but will kill you in a point blank engagement (and has a bug that throws you forward instead of back when you fire it sometimes)
  • The crossbow also will kill you up close and has a bit of drop at range, is also fun but lacks utility compared to Erupter which can close holes/factories
  • The Senator is okay but outshined by the machine pistol (set it to semi-auto) from the standard bond.
  • The laser pistol is total trash
  • Thermite grenades seem to be trash
  • Incendiary grenades hold chokes and practically handle bug breaches on their own (okay not on like Helldive but they are good)
  • Plasma Punisher is good vs bots but is very difficult to aim (45 degree lob shots to hit medium range targets)
  • Blitzer has no range and is not reliable
  • Grenade pistol opens up a lot of unconventional builds/adds hole close or stun to builds that would lack it
  • New AR is weak but has nice feel
  • Stun Grenades pair really well with Auto-Cannon/AMR and trivialize hulks for those builds
Personally I would go Steeled if you want to hunt bugs, Cutting Edge if you want to fight bots and Democratic Detonation if you are bored and want stuff that plays radically different.

i wonder what there going to throw at us next
We get to choose our next stragems this time:
"
MAJOR ORDER: Helldivers, it's time to choose between liberating Choohe or Penta. Depending on your choice, you will receive either the MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines or the RL-77 Airburst Rocket Launcher. (And you'll save the citizens. Don't forget the citizens.)"

I'm hoping the community pushes for the Air Burst Rocket Launcher.

Agreed. The direction the devs seem to be going in involves more airborne enemies, the mines currently in the game aren’t very good, and the airburst seems to also work on grounded shit if a bit randomly going on the “leaks”. It also seems to reload faster than the recoilless.

From the leaks I saw the cluster part will go off it its above a mob on the ground so with careful practice it can work for both land and air mobs. A small, more focuses Eagle-1 Cluster bomb could be pretty fun and useful.

I use emplacements constantly, and with new defense missions with lots of useful chokes, they've been getting play. I just prefer emplacements because it feels the best like on-the-fly map editing

I'd probably pick airburst because I don't see myself ever using the mines with any of my loadouts.

Mines are very good on the defense maps, where you launch the missiles between waves and hold gates, and AT mines would be crazy good for this guaranteed.

They are pretty doable missions in Helldive as it stands though.

Grabbed this game about a month ago but never had the time to play it for personal reasons.

Just started getting into it now.
This gives me a unique perspective.

There appears to be a massive gulf between experienced and new divers at this point, and getting matched as a rookie with experienced divers can be frustrating.

Nothing more annoying to someone trying to get used to things as bare-bones as the game's physics than watching some level 35 and used to 7-9 who's smurfing at 4 or 5 wiping out the map and leaving nothing to shoot.

I'd say 1 in 5 quickmatches will match me with people around my level, and when it happens it's great.
quickplay needs more options to set this.

This was my experience. I started about a month late and while at first I appreciated the carries, it dawned on me that I wasn't really learning the game. My friends who were playing were for the most part done with their progression and I had to ask for babysitting just to understand what all the objectives were and what equipment and stratagems can deal with each. The good news is that it doesn't take that long to get sufficient guns and stratagems for difficulty 4+.

The patience level among vets is also absurdly low from my experience.
I've been shot dead for going after common samples and even kicked for taking time to decide what stratagems to buy with my meager first earnings.

Game's fun, but the community is starting to get some rot.

Again, this doesn't happen if people are within level range.
This is 35+ random-queueing in 3-5 and getting angry when people are actually progging in 3-5

Yeah you're getting matched with grade A shitters. Tier 4 ship modules need a fuck ton of common and rare samples. I can understand not being confident enough to hoover 7+ maps but it sounds like these chumps don't even try. The bottleneck for the tier 4 modules isn't the req slips or the super samples, it's the fucking common and rare samples. If they're malding over picking up commons, then it sounds like they don't even bother with 7+ and can't get the super samples necessary in the first place.

The airburst launcher has a nasty habit of fusing on nothing and blowing you up. I just had a game in which I only survived one of those explosions because I was wearing heavy explosive resistant armor. They really need to fix that thing to make it viable in any capacity.

I'm level 60-something and like to play at level 5 for a more relaxed game but I never go off on my own to autistically scour the map like a speedrunning tranny. I do like to take out all the outposts if time and map layout allows for it but I like to operate with the whole group or in pairs, and I seem to get paired with like minded people quite frequently. Like @Asian tech support said those guys are probably shitters. Are you quickjoining games or are you starting your own lobby?
