Helldivers 2 - Hell is more diverse than ever as PlayStation's demographics continue to grow and change.

I finally used the quasar and it definitely feels bad now. At least compared to what it was. If you don't kill the hulk or charger with a direct head shot you're hurting, more so on hulks since with a charger you often blow open its side or leg and can shoot that to finish it off. I might just go back to EATs but my only exposure was an eradicate bug mission and those are far too hectic that even before a quasar was pushing it and juggling EATs were better for chargers since it's a small area.

Don't be that faggot who throws offensive stratagems at the ground before boarding the pelican. Some asshole unintentionally killed the rest of the team doing that and caused us to leave behind ~50 samples in the process. "Aaaawwwh shit man I'm sorry fuck..."

I wish I had the option to execute other players aboard my ship, kicking him wasn't good enough.

Also does any one else have a weird thing were Pelican-1 will take off the second one person gets on?
The Pelican has a health pool. You'll notice the craft sometimes be on fire and smoking if it flew through a laser or got hit by a barrage. If it's health is low, it'll extract with whoever's on board.

If you don't ever shuffle the deck, the card game gets stale.
This is not shuffling cards, this is just eliminating cards from the game one after another. My AT rotation went from AC, EATs or the Quasar to just the EATs or the AC because the Recoilless still isn't viable no matter how much you nerf everything else into the ground.

I'm glad they nerfed the quasar, there I said it. It was too good, it was a no-brainer to always pick quasar if you were being tryhard about it, and it made the recoiless rifle useless. It makes sense that if you want to have a single reliable anti-tank weapon but without the backpack of the RR or the single use nature of the EATS, then there needs to be some other drawback to it. You all say balancing is pointless in PVE games but I disagree because I hate seeing loads of content that isn't practical or fun. Helldivers 2 is very guilty of that with the weapons and I think it's good they are showing interest in fixing it.

EDIT: In reply to CaptainAutism69's post above, they would do well to put in more unlockable side content for other avenues of progression. Things like capes or titles to show off 10,000 kills with a specific weapon, 1,000 bile titan kills, 1,000 super rare samples extracted, etc., it would allow for more progression and the fun of players showing off how good they are with a certain weapon or whatever gargantuan task they managed to achieve.

I think the best thing for the recoilless rifle is just to make it do more armor damage so it peels back armor when you shoot the tank guys with them so then if it doesn't kill them you could just light them up and then finish them off. also giving it a somewhat bigger AOE so that can kill some trash mobs around it would probably help it out a lot more and if they really wanted to mix it up more they could have it loaded with two shots at a time so you could fire one peel back the armor and then kill it with the next shot

So instead of letting people reload the RR off of the users' backpack instead of having to lug it around themselves, which would genuinely improve that weapon and make it see more use, we have to nerf the fun out of another weapon. This is what happens when you balance by usage, and nothing else.

Arguably you could keep both in the game and just have it so that if you're reloading from the guy's backpack it would just be slightly slower than if you were to have the backpack on yourself and also you could just apply this to most of the backpack ammo reloading weapons in the game for consistency

Taking away a toy without providing adequate alternatives is a shit design ethos. Creating toys without a niche is equally trite. I play a lot of co op shooters and sure it sucks when 80% of the arsenal is unusable or sub optimal but it's worse when the goal is 100%. Balancing by spreadsheet is exactly that: the end goal of equalizing usage. I can't think of a single time where that resulted in a satisfactory meta.

The problem with the quasar wasn't that it was too strong, it was that there wasn't a situation where the recoilless or the railgun (or even the EAT) would be superior. They had no niche. Buffing the railgun to lean more into the niche of extreme armor breaking was a good decision but in a vacuum, it doesn't really change anything. To compensate, perhaps bile titan and charger armor should have been increased, making carrying a railgun in the squad on high difficulty bug missions a necessity. Create niche use situations and players will expand their arsenals. It's not an easy thing to do but it's better than dumpstering player favorites and fostering an adversarial relationship.

I've had an idea for a backpack stratagem - a supercharger for certain weapons that don't have backpacks. If you've played Dota, it'd basically be an Aghanim's Scepter but for select support weapons. In Dota, Aghanim's Scepter is an item that's used to buff select ultimate abilities, providing additional functionality, although in current Dota, its applications are far more varied, affecting non ultimate abilities or adding additional abilities entirely. Regardless, aside from having infinite ammo, the biggest strength of the quasar was that it didn't require a backpack, allowing players access to the coveted jump pack and personal shield. While there isn't a chance in hell that Arrowhead devs lurk this forum, I'd still like to see something like this someday.

Was the Quasar Cannon even strong enough to justify the nerf to its recharge rate? That thing took two shots to kill hulks and such already, meanwhile during the recharge I've just alerted them to where I am and now they're shooting at me while I have to wait either for a teammate to finish them off or for my second shot to come up. I don't understand the pervasive obsession with "balance" in a fucking cooperative video game.
Not really, no. It took several body shots to chargers to take them down which already meant if you didn't get the headshot or leg shot you were still kiting them around for 30 seconds or so. They also buffed the shrieker nests and other objectives against them and other AT, which I can see, but not when they're so focused on making fun weapons even shittier too.
If they're really just looking at usage stats and nerfing the most popular guns, then they're putting themselves in a situation where every balance patch upsets the maximum amount of people. People are going to associate weekly updates with having something they like taken away from them and begin to dread them.

The insistence in poking little holes in the most used weapons just for the sake of it comes off as telling a huge chunk of the player base that they're having fun incorrectly.
That's what happens when an entire dev team is made up of people who look like reddit mods and stay on discord. These retards probably buy into the "we are parodying fascism!" thing too. If they're trying to push their version of fun with the RR and cooperative weapon gimmick they can enjoy an empty game, if I want weapon team realism I'll just go fuck around in Hell Let Loose. People play Helldivers 2 because they want to be shooting bugs and bots, and guess what you're not doing when you're playing backpack bitch to someone with a cannon? That's right, you're not shooting shit, you're loading.

TBH even nerfed the Quasar still fires faster than waiting for EATs to recharge. I really think people are overreacting.
