As I see it, these AAA game publishers only respond to overwhelming and disproportionate negative attention. Nothing less than a category 3 chimpout will motivate them to change course, and even then it is usually temporary. For example: the Battlefront 2 microtransactions fiasco from 2017.

You literally have to make enough noise to trigger an article on Forbes because we are not Sony's customers, some boomer with terrible investment skills is.
Also at this point the gamer has been shown to be unprincipled, unorganized and lacking impulse control over and over. Like a weak dog in a corner we need to make a big show.
