Helldivers 2 - Hell is more diverse than ever as PlayStation's demographics continue to grow and change.

I think the next push that needs to be organized is to axe the ancient anti-cheat.
It does not stop hackers. This is a fact.
They wanted the PSN & PC connection for an easier time banning people. They're not getting that.
So what the hell does it actually do other than be needlessly invasive?
But financially there is no longer any incentive for Arrowhead to continue imho.
They have incentive. Helldivers 2 is a rare opportunity, that you don't get often.
Countless times companies have poured untold resources into making "The Next Big IP" only for it to fall flat.
To not stick with a hit as long as you can is genuinely wasting an opportunity for profit.
+ Given how consumer-friendly the game actually is, IIRC the sales for in-game currency have been doing rather well. When you treat your players well, they tend to like the idea of supporting your game.
the eternal balancooming dev just eventually leads to all weapons doing the same amount of dps and not really accomplishing anything other than being a skin
It's so weird watching it happen. I think there was a twitter post about the New Vegas devs saying most of their balance was "vibes based" or something. That is what drives most of the gear choices in this game. Numbers are neat for a baseline, or whatever. We don't have a great way to quantify them at the moment (such as how much 150 damage is to a bug overall). But people gravitate towards the weapons that feel good to use. It is amazing that they keep missing this.

In a game where you are encouraged to take on higher difficulties, people want to use what feels effective and strong.
It is not rocket science.

I love the game but this was not the win everyone thinks it is.
12 hours ago I had a refund request pending and was planning to never play again. Now there's a decent chance I play until the next patch where they nerf the 4 things everyone is using because it works. That's improvement.

I'm seeing retards now making the arguement that we are bootlickers for Valve and Gaben. Litetally the same people previously making the "its just a few minutes dont be such a baby" arguement for SONY. It has to be either farming engagement or baiting, I refuse to believe anyone can be that blatant in their doublethink.

Pilestedt must've made a very compelling argument at Sony's offices. The funniest part is that they did it the day the change was supposed to take place.

Anyway, apparently some speds decided to take it upon themselves to buy Helldivers 1 just to review bomb it.

I thought of changing my negative review to a positive one, but I know for a fact Arrowhead wouldn't give a single fuck if lawyers didn't start getting involved. HD2's review nuke should stay and serve as a warning to other dipshits in the industry that want to ruin PC gaming.

Alot of people are bitter the chuds raised up for once that actually got something done. I really wish the Arrowhead CEO does take a good, hard look at their CM through since day one they did nothing but make the whole situation worse. Like every single action and communication the CMs did was the wrong thing.

I do hope we get a cheeky cape out of all of this through

Still not going to buy it especially now, but I think it's within even Sony's best interests to keep the Helldivers IP alive through continued support. Even if they had to withdraw the PSN account linking, they've got a burgeoning IP in the sci-fi game genre where previous shooters like Halo and Gears of War have waned, and it basically emulates things that a lot of people like and want: it's like Starship Troopers, it's basically Killzone where you get to play the Helghast, it's Haze without the faggoty moral complex, it's Star Wars Stormtrooper/Mandalorian headcanon. It's also a strong beachhead into the PC community, which Sony absolutely wants to try and exploit.

Put simply, I don't think there's any real fear of Sony dropping this one, unless the PC community defies all expectations and stays away from it (which won't happen).

No.

It's amusing to me that this whore, who is a big advocate of games becoming more "inclusive", didn't give a single fuck when 69 countries were straight up excluded from the game. Fuck this leftist bitch for even pretending to care about other people.

Steam's page is still listing PSN as a requirement. Sony didn't apologise, they are just kicking the can down the road
I'm trusting that things need to be updated. It's been said before that Corpos move really slowly since someone has to tell someone what to do like a retarded game of telephone. The higher ups say send a tweet that we aren't doing it, then someone else has to tell Steam Content Management to edit the page (or request Valve I don't know the specifics)

Does any other PS game have the same banner but it says "has third party account integration (PSN)" instead of requiring it? That was what the original faq said, that it's optional, so I would hope the little banners reflect that.

It's just gonna be in the same state it was before indefinitely. I doubt Snoy will ever make it mandatory, but it would be stupid for them to completely say no to the possibility that they might get a chance.

To add to this, you still can't buy Helldivers 2 in regions where you can't create a PSN account. Yet, you can buy Horizon Forbidden West.
Single player game. I bet you can buy Ghost of Tsushima in PSN-less regions despite its requirement for the multiplayer component.

The anticheat should be replaced with an ingame tool that players can use to report cheaters.

"Abuse" doesn't really happen in the game AFAIK. The rudest that people ever were to me was wordlessly kicking me from the game. But I think the community would be able to take care of the cheaters themselves, if only they were given the right tools. Everyone knows what a detrimental effect cheaters can have on a game, even if its PvE, and it could even be incorporated into the world building (report traitors/unpatriotic behavior).

Needs to be thought out so it can't be abused itself, but I believe it could work.

I wouldn't believe it, if it wasn't from an official account. Would hope that Valve would smack down blatant review manipulation. If you get rewarded for leaving any review, don't really see an issue with that, requiring a positive review though is a step too far.

They still deserve the negative reviews, they tried to fuck over their playerbase and got their shit kicked in. They will try this again.

The Community Managers (save for Twinbeard or Turbobeard or whatever his name is) mishandled this every step of the way. Spitz publicly mocked someone for not refunding and leaving, shilled the "it just takes 2 minutes" line and only backpedalled when he realized that his company is being implicated in fraud by doing this.

Pilestedt (the Arrowhead CEO) kept communicating that this was Sony's decision and expressed solidarity with the players, but both local handmaiden Baskinator and resident tranny Misty said the move was so "we can easier ban players :)" ("we" being Arrowhead jannies) and they both seemed happy about it.
Baskinator.jpgMisty.jpg
These jannies made this so much worse than it needed to be. All they needed to do was shut up and pretend to be on the players' side and they couldn't even get their stories straight on that. If Arrowhead wants to remain mostly blameless for this controversy, Katherine Baskin and Misty Hart deserve every bit of flak coming their way.

We will be back here again for round two if they backslide.
Not "if". "When". This shit is going to happen again, because the only reason Sony backed down is that someone rightly pointed out they put all their weight on a legal Bouncing Betty. Right now we're seeing the hilarious shuffle of putting some other expendable retard on the trigger, but the march of Progress must continue, customers be damned.

I'll grant that Pilestedt's "I just want to make a fun game" demeanor might well be genuine, but at the end of the day he's still championing for a company that fucking hates you. The black knight may have a sense of honor and lament the ruin of war, but at the end of the day he's still your enemy and will kill you dead if his lord demands.
