That's why when you "criticize" a game, you actually criticize them. Their literal ego is tied up in a fucking toy. Gaming is their primary identity anchor, any threat to that identity feels existential. That's how you end up justifying ruining someone's life over making a good faith donation.
You're correct on the end result idgaf about erm acktaully-ing anything else. We can also see this through lolcow behavior as a whole or with the hyper autistic like you pointed out with Chris-chan where what they consume becomes a part of who they are. But the non-autistic incel crowd is the main one partaking in heavy handed tribalism because of those reasons of wanting to fit in. You can see it fitting the mold for either when they have nothing to lose and it means the world to them to cling onto self preservation. If they didn't need the validation that it brought them then they could easily see reason to want it to be better but the idea itself of criticizing it is a threat to killing the game and them in their mind.
 
I dont think the game can get a comeback of any kind after the past year or so of retardation and this was just sealing the deal. They went from a big sudden smash hit to a flailing semi-niche coop game that is balanced really poorly and has some of the most retarded dev communication in the scene. Ive enjoyed coopslop and they always fuck it up in some form or another besides the danes who make Deeprock. The community on the fringe sites like reddit that wasnt at all the mainstream was always pretty fucktarded, i remember the first struggle session was people reeing about wrongthinkers who used the heavy handed nationalistic satire to troll and piss off the soyboy redditors who kept spamming "ITS SUPPOSED TO BE MOCKING YOUUUU!!111!!ONEONE"

My problem with the whole situation is, and maybe I'm just a Jew but, if this happened to me where I lost my stable job, and other work due to retarded reddit bullshit and seemingly almost everyone was on my side...

I would do two major things.

I would come out publicly. I mean 'ol boy is already doxed right? Might as well. I would mention what company I work for, and the horse sanctuary. Put them on blast. Let them know they're weak employers who can't just press the 'block' button and cave to trolling retards. This would have the hilarious second effect of people attacking both places with even more calls than what they got from the doxxers.

Employers need to be punished for this shit. Its one thing if someone wears their company logo while running around screaming "NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER" but its a whole other thing when some anonymous retard calls you from across the country to cry about...whatever they told them. No investigation, no care about a stable employee, just a boot out the door.

Second? I would set up a GoFundMe. I mean just look at the money the guy who called Trump a pedo protector on the factory floor got. No fucking way I'm losing my job to these faggots, have thousands of people claim to support me on the internet, and then NOT grift off it. Never let go of a good grift!

I have several friends that play Helldivers II and they've tried a handful of times to convince me to join them. Every time I decline because IMO its simply not possible to make fighting waves of bots as dynamic and engaging as fighting other humans.

Somehow there also exist a sizeable cohort that go out of their way to identify as "gamers", consume secondary gaming media, follow ecelebs and streamer/youtube slop drama and criticism, are very opinionated about games and gamers on xitter, yet don't fucking play videogames. They're social media and outrage cycle addicts, they may play some gacha shit on their phones or some free to play games on their third worlder laptop but nothing else.

I think depending on what happens with games like Mycopunk and Jump Space either HD2 will keep on trucking or it'll die. I've always thought games like these with developers as inconsistent as these end up living or dying based on what kind of competition exists to their game.
 
Yet another example of how making things into FPS makes them worse. I never touched this garbage fire because I could tell it was going to be like this. Helldivers 1 was great, such a shame they assassinated the IP with the sequel.

HD1 is still the overall better product though, that game was clean as hell and worked perfectly.

My biggest issue with helldivers is the enemy difficulty vs. enemy quantity. I want hundreds of bugs that all die to one hit to anything, supplemented by tougher enemies. Instead they can all pretty easily kill you and all take multiple shots. It's probably a game engine limitation but I'd enjoy it more if there was more going on. Instead there's so few enemies it feels like a PvE game where the enemies are just humans in different colors.
 
I have a solution to this sort of problem: any company that fired employees for non-work-related things like this should be legally forced to treat all their employees, including the one fired, as members of management. If you're going to be fucking with people due to innocent shit they do off the clock, then you're admitting that they weren't a wagie but, in fact, a member of management and thus technically never "off the clock". Also, companies should be forced to issue massive amounts of back-pay due to their wagies actually being salaried managers.
Making you a "manager" is the ultimate neat trick companies do to commit wage theft and take a bunch of your legal protections away.

You are MORE protected not less as a hourly wagie.

I could swear that Helldive and Super Helldive used to feel this way, with the same proportion of chaff, medium and heavy enemies as lower difficulties but lots more enemies overall. I don't know when it changed, or why.
