Not outright terrible, but its so generic that its not even worth discussing at length.

Also, who tf optimized the game?(was it optimized at all???) this shit lags constantly

Since we're making bets; mine is that we should familiarize ourselves with the number 97,249: this game isn't going to reach 100k players till the day of its funeral. No game has a chance to come back from this, weekend or not.

At this point the player count depends more on meme potential than the game's quality. Unless something really funny happens before Friday, or the devs have a miraculous patch in their sleeve, this will struggle to reach 50k, and I'd be slightly surprised if it even gets there.
By Sunday we'll be betting on when will the servers shut down.

Probably the best take about how Geoff Keely fucking ruined this game XD

The devs apparently wanted to shadow drop the game, but Geoff thought it was SOOOO revolutionary that he had to show it at the Game Awards. Probably hyped the devs up, making them think the wider gaming community would love it.

Personally I think the funniest part of all this is Geoff getting humiliated
>do your best to rebrand the dudebro sports game awards show as the gaming oscars
>spend weeks hyping up your awards show by baiting half life fans and other autists that their favorite series would finally get a new game announced at your show
>after making them suffer through your awards show, they are rewarded with a surprise big final announcement!
>... highguard?
>personally vouch for the game, claim you are a huge fan after getting to play test it and that you are such a huge fan of what you played that you personally gave them the final announcement slot without making them pay money for it
>continue defending the game up until release, post a gif of "in 48 hours i'll be accepting your apologies" from jurassic park without realizing the irony of the context whatsoever
>game releases
>it's exactly as everyone expected - a lame hero shooter that would have been immediately forgotten even if it came out in 2020
>one of the top 100 worst reviewed games on steam
>you will always be regarded as the dorito pope
>you will never beat the sellout allegations

I really appreciate how the Steam discussion forums, of all god forsaken places, is actually one of the more free-er speech mainstream platforms when you think about it. People bully the absolute shit out of leftists there, it's hilarious.
You don't get banned for having le heckin wrong opinions. And some people get away with saying some pretty wild shit. I generally have to push the boundaries (of what you'd expect in a modern day soy forum) before I get banned in the "hotzone" boards (concord, asscreed:niggos, etc) and it's usually like a day or so. Except I think I was community banned for like 3 months in the Highguard board a while back.
LOL I found the report:

I remember I was surprised because I know said way more offensive shit than that in other threads lol

Look I don’t give a shit about this Highguard beyond meme potential if it flopped, but I saw this and it made me laugh.

I mean, I’ll give them credit if the game is in fact only 20 GB, for Western Dev that’s a fucking miracle, but seeing Dorito Pope getting dragged over this one is great

Should we have smaller teams make decent games with a tight budget? No, let's clone pubg / hero shooter / counterstrike / popular thing for the next live service slop so we can HIT THE FUCKING JACKPOT YES, JUST ONE MORE SCRATCH TICKET LETS GO. I'm a director at EA Games and we're going to spend $80 billion dollars trying to copy ARC RAIDERS. expect about 10 other arc raiders clones in a few years. Just give me 80 billion dollars bro we can capture the market of players to sell them skins and battlepass. i dont care who designs this shit, just throw some indians at it

Boggles the mind that everyone just wants Titanfall 3, or a spiritual successor, and yet these retarded devs give players the exact opposite of what they ask for.
The options menu doesn't work properly, that just about says it all. Does this piece of shit even have an FOV slider?

Not on console unless they dropped an update for it

The fact I've seen so many people say variations of "well, it's not that bad" is far more indicative of how bad modern AAA gaming is than a defense of this garbage. It's a laggy, unoptimized mess that barely works, has literally no selling points at all, exists in an overcrowded and shit genre where even if you DO like this type of game there are better alternatives, has next to no game modes, and what it does have is completely counter intuitive and incongruous with every single other design choice. These maps could EASILY support 12v12 or more due to their size, but it's limited to 3v3?

There was some discussion on twitter about how there were JP fans of the game due to the connection to Apex, so much for that making up for the difference.

Someone asked this previously, but seriously, who the fuck releases a game on a Monday? A Thursday release you've got a day to tweak shit before the weekend hits, and can get a boost from people waiting a day before the weekend starts, but no one is going to look at this shit and wait a week to bother playing it.

This game also went from being the #1 game on twitch when it launched, to #39 in what is now just shy of 24 hours. None of the big channels that were streaming this shit yesterday are streaming it right now, clearly they only did it due to being paid to do so(I've seen rumors floating around that it was anywhere from $12,000-20,000 to stream it for a couple hours). Currently the most viewers is someone with 3.5k viewers, next one down is 500, another 500, then 190, 175, and 100. This game's lifespan lasted a whole 2 fucking hours of being mediocre.

So how long until the finger-pointing and anonymous leaks start? Because that's when things always start getting funny.

Ever since LawBreakers (I bought that, by the way), I’ve been fascinated by games that release and instantly bomb. So many studios launch online-only games like this, only for them to immediately die. I always try to play them before they disappear. Does anyone remember Crucible? Gigantic? Bleeding Edge?
The art direction of Bleeding Edge was so bad. Every character was ugly as hell. This showed that nobody in the industry understood why Overwatch was popular at the time.

outsourcing isnt the problem
This is technically true, at the end of the day, if you outsource the creation of various assets to someone else, they're just going to do what you told them to make, nothing more and nothing less, the main problem with all this shit is that the base concept for the assets they're outsourcing is fucking mediocre and bad, but would have been the same turd done in-house or by indians.
I personally like to hate a lot on overwatch because the game is incredibly flawed on lots of places, but you could never say almost all characters don't have good and catchy designs, and you could most probably identify most by their outline, this game and concord just have random people that you have seen hundreds of times before, there's nothing that would make you remember the characters or scenarios, like fucking hell, the only memorable thing about concord was the tranny black "woman" because of how extremely memeable of a design it has.

Played it for a bit. The hero shooter mechanics and the looting mechanics are very uninspired and feel tacked on. I feel no inclination toward picking anyone in particular during hero select and nearly 2 minutes before each raid is wasted on the most tedious battle-royale type looting mechanics where you mine rocks or open chests to replace your gray gun with a blue gun that has a very marginal advantage. Also getting odd performance issues, like the graphics just feel blurry in a way I've never seen in another game. Also the gunplay feels a bit subpar, but that may be because of performance issues
There's some kind of bug with the settings:

My guess is that the reason it's 3v3 is that they have massive performance issues with the engine and were trying to hide it.
I think so too. From what people are saying about the maps being gigantic but void of things to do I'd bet you anything it was initially developed with bigger teams and trash mobs to kill for loot but they couldn't get it to run so they had to rush out the MVP, and even that isn't stable.
