Hit by Youtube's AdBlocker detection. Help needed.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I got it again and did the cache purge and it went away. Probably good to just do that as soon as the screen pops up.

I've definitely been watching less YouTube and switched from Chrome to Firefox for most browsing. The banning people from watching videos is odd - there's got to be a point where it starts impacting people's viewership if they keep doing it.

I had the same issue with Brave but it seems to be working again without ads. Was there an update or something

Im very new to Brave so how do you clear cache and cookies so its like when we do it with Ublock?

Edit: When I tried it with the "last hour" option, it simply removed me from my account and I had to get into it again. The annoying screen remained tho.

I also do wonder how long can Youtube keep this little war going. They gotta pay wageslaves to keep updating while an army of retards are working tirelessly to make a counter out of sheer spite (while also playing Morrowind with their other hand)

I will be the judge of that when I get home

I opened a new window, went to youtube on that window and then pulled it back into my normal Brave Window and it seemed to have cleared the "tracking"

This could have just been randomly not getting it anymore and waving a chicken bone around would have been just as effective.

Did they decide to calm down with this shit or nah? I'd gotten hit with that warning popup weeks ago but nothing since, Brave browser with ublock origin on top. Did the adblockers simply win the arms race or did Google realize the tremendous fuckup they'd be causing for once?

Seems like they eased up in the last few weeks but apparently they just came back full force with this BS. They will never learn.

Edit: And really there isnt any sign that this decision has benefitted them in practice. It might have had the reverse effect

I doubt the cost to YouTube is that much.

Even after just the first few days of YouTube detecting ad-blockers, hundreds of thousands of people uninstalled ad-blocking extensions, so I think it's just about them being as annoying as possible. People who don't really understand what's happening and get scared by the pop-ups will just disable/uninstall their ad-blockers and/or pay for Premium.

It doesn't help that the time between YouTube updating their script and the uBO guys updating their quick fixes filter is now several hours and sometimes it's 8+ hours. When this first started, they were defeating this shit in minutes. I'm not sure what's changed. Not to sound ungrateful or anything, cos I obviously appreciate the uBO guys' continued efforts to tell YouTube to go fuck themselves.

Let me tell you if youtube is taking this seriously then bandwidth costs must be hitting them hard now that or advertising is not paying out as much.

I meant the cost of having someone update their anti-adblock script a few times a week.

I dunno how much YouTube makes, but even if it's massively profitable, it's still in their interest to get people to disable their ad-blockers or subscribe to Premium, given that ~40% of people use ad-blocking software in some form.

That cost could be a cron job, it's not hard to detect it's how how much they want to piss off the userbase.

They're only pissing off people who are not making them money though. Plus, what's the alternative? There is no viable alternative really, so people will either pay up, disable their ad-blockers, or continue playing the cat and mouse game.

There ARE alternatives but a mixture of convenience, easy accessability, alternatives having to work uphill because Google boycotts them at every time, all these things kind of cause people to just stick with youtube like its the modern TV.

Exactly this is only pissing off the normies, once they fuck with yt-dl then I will be pissed.

on the topic of this is there any alternative front end that A is not stuck in theater mode and unusable and B has the ablity to sync your watch history if it did these two things i would never need youtube or google

What are they?

People go where the content is. I don't want to go to some niche platform that all the folks that got banned from YouTube migrated to. I want there to be a genuine competitor to YouTube, but YouTube is so massive I just don't see how that can happen.

It's the same for wannabe content creators; while there is a lot of competition on YouTube, it's where the most eyes are too. Why would you go to one of the other sites, unless what you're doing is frowned upon by YouTube?
