Watched episode 3 of IT. What a dogshit mess of cgi and awful acting from the kids. Everything looks so fucking fake.
I stopped watching that after the first episode. It was only good for the first 5 mins, it got too much like a Stranger Things rip off for my liking.

The prequel angle with the kids is so stupid. Why do we care? We know It is still around and just as strong in the future so we know everything these kids and the military does is futile and fails.

Saw Predator: Badlands

With this installment, the Predator franchise is firmly no longer horror. That said, I did enjoy it more than some of the recent Predator films (haven't seen Prey) because there's at least a semblance of a plot.

The changes to the Predator design are indeed to make his expressions easier to read. He's also clearly stated to be a malformed runt; the other Yautja we see in the movie look far more like what we expect. I overall thought the CGI on the Yautja was really good. They also changed what their language sounds like and I thought this was fine. Since the protagonist is Yautja he speaks a good amount and it would be annoying to hear clicks the whole time.

There's entirely too much comedic relief. I wish the film had been darker and more serious in tone; it would have been much stronger. As it is, it's obvious they're trying to appeal to the widest audience possible. The reasons the Synth, played by Dakota Fanning, speaks and reacts like a normal human is so retarded. It suffers from an affliction common with Disney-owned films: Cute Critter Syndrome. A CGI, bug-eyed, cute critter that gets up to antics and makes the audience coo and buy toys and stuffies. The Cute Critter in this movie sticks out like a sore thumb and I hated it.

The plot is kinda sappy but it makes sense with the protagonist being a runt outcast who doesn't fit into Yautja culture.

They are gearing up for sequels or a show on Disney+.

I lost interest in Stranger Things well before the first season ended and this current production, with the merchandising push, looks like another attempt to by a studio or network or streamer to squeeze one of their franchises dry. These "kids" look like they're well into their 30s but every advertisement, or display for Stranger Things-branded snack cakes or chips I've seen in stores makes it looks like they're still riding around on bikes and dressed like they're the kid heroes of a 80s movie trying to stop a crooked real estate developer from tearing down the neighborhood youth center or beloved burger joint in order to build a parking garage.

My first exposure to Stranger Things was people gushing about how awesome it was the brother who got his camera broken wasn’t “rewarded” with a girlfriend like your standard 80s movie, and I realized it wasn’t for me. The fact that current year fucks don’t get that there’s an actual appeal to finding traditional heterosexual love is all I need to know that we’re cooked as a species.

Stranger things really needed to just be one season. I don't care that not everything was answered I figured that was the point. I tried watching season 2 and only got to the first episode. I made the foolish mistake of thinking it would be kind of like how in the 80s you had a lot of people making great remakes and whatnot inspired by the horror and sci fi work of the 50s. Sadly it was just something to milk without a soul.

Or an anthology show with different casts and plots each season. Maybe you sneak in fun allusions to other seasons every once in a while, but different stories otherwise.

I will probably watch the final season, but I'm done with "kids riding bikes to save the world" E.T.-esque nonsense when the kids are all well into their 20s and, in some cases, have kids of their own. Enough already.

Isn't it PG-13 now? Were you taken against your will to see this?. Are you okay? Blink twice if you need help.
AvP was PG-13. If the blood and guts shown are from non-existent creatures (like xenomorphs or yautja) the MPAA doesn't count it as actual blood and gore. I'm sure this one was PG-13 as well since there's plenty of violence but it's "creature violence" and the "people" being ripped apart are synths with white goo, not humans.

My grandma wanted to see it so yes I went willingly although I was reminded yet again how much the movie theater experience has gone downhill since I was a kid.

iirc the main thing is the blood isn't red, so you get the pepto-bismol kingons in Trek 6

Saw Keeper, it tastes like shit. It was about some woman getting high and eatting a shit cake. I wish I was joking but that was the movie. Also nothing happened, something something fish and I left just before it ended.

Never watched Stranger Things but the clown reveal at the end of Ep 3 of Derry has be hyped for 4...bad ghost CGI aside.

Edit: Theyre doing 3 seaasons...each set during a 'main event' of Derry. The next seasons at like 1905 and 1930s.

Edit: They are really great at setting up the white girl to be absolute 'bat shit crazy bitch' to the town meanwhile the 'savior black family' new to town is doing their thing per 'subversive woke media' trope. Acting isn't bad. CGI is mid and they should use more practical effects. but it's still light years better than Alien : Earth.

edit3: ep4 shows the OG native american tribe ripped apart by IT. It manifests itself as a literal Christian Missionary as it kills the 'greatest warrior'...a woman. The group of girls gather to kill IT. This is fucking hilarious and worth watching because it feels parody.

While we're on the topic;
"I feel like a lot of people still missed the whole point of Pennywise as character or the entire story of IT"

I get what this post is trying to say but it ignores the fact that Stephen King himself is already extremely inconsistent as a writer and that even his best work has always struggled with film/television adaptations. Just because it is book accurate doesn't mean it's good. And in fact, a 1:1 adaption of IT is a terrible idea, even as someone who loves the book. It's a long winding complex story that only really works as the book equivalent to a drug trip. Trying to adapt a story like IT to television without severely adjusting the story like Chapter 1 did is like trying to describe a really cool dream you had only for it to come out extremely lame. The fact it is "book accurate" is actually bad.

All the good Stephen King film adaptations I can think of took great liberties with the source material. The Shining being the big, obvious example. Makes you think.

King is kind of a genius at being a big picture guy but then he gets into the details, is excessively verbose, has the clout basically not to have his shit edited even when it desperately needs it, and can't plot for shit since he's just sort of shambling randomly to an ending without considering what it is.
