Return to Silent Hill made me laugh lot. I don't really want to spoil it because it is worth watching to see how bad the trainwreck is.
Movie got lot of the visuals right, then for some reason in another scene it has sub video game cgi and fakest looking beard this side of Twisted Pair.
It makes a number of changes to SH2's story, which totally miss the point and taking the movie on it's own forgetting about the game, it still sucks.

It should. Even Shelby Oaks made (a little) money and it was in far fewer theaters, and had MUCH stiffer competition (Black Phone 2, Chainsaw man, and Tron:Ares (lol)). Iron Lung has basically Send Help (which looks like utter shit) and the re-release of The Two Towers.
I mean it's February and the weather is fucking a lot of places, but that's a pretty low budget to clear to be in that many theaters.
We'll see, though, definitely not making any money from me.

I actually quite enjoyed Iron Lung, it had a little bit too much mystery and not enough answers, but it was very enjoyable to watch. Markiplier's acting was pretty good for the most part, definitely good for a first acting role.
Theatres are packed everywhere for this, I hadn't seen a cinema so full since before the pandemic. The real question is if it'll have legs.

I watched the Blair witch documentary and thought it was a good documentary. It's just talking to the crew about how the film was made. There's a lot of really interesting behind the scenes information but it adds nothing to the movie. It's all production with very little expansion on the franchise.
They showed the guy they were going to use as the ghost in the scene they run from the tent. It's just a dude wearing white tights and a jock strap. Funny to see him getting ready and glad it never made it to film.

That's something that I miss. I remember when I was younger you'd see all sort of documentaries on TV about how movies were made. I remember watching once about Tom Savini and how he got in to special FX, one about The Thing and the Fly, Terminator, Alien. My favorite as a kid was when Jim Henson would put out stuff like that. It's sad you don't see that much anymore.

My mom had a rough couple days and wanted to go see a movie together. I said okay, her pick. Went into Send Help pretty blind; I only knew that Rachel McAdams and Dylan O'Brien are the leads and they're coworkers who get stranded on an island together. I had a total blast. Really not a horror film at all, more of a black comedy.

I thought Ash (2025) was fascinating. Not the best but worth mentioning. Probably the closest we're ever going to get to a non-shit adaptation of
Halo

No, and tbh having watched a trailer, motivated by your comment, I don't think it really was marketed that way. It's Misery meets Castaway, but make it a dark comedy. As I was watching the movie I realized they could not have made this with reversed genders.
Rachel plays a woman who is a bit of a weirdo (I won't spoil details), with a passion for outdoors survival. Dylan is a businessman with no outdoors experience, and in the crash he is injured pretty badly and is unable to move for a while. He has to depend on her for food, shelter, water, etc. due to his injury and her expertise. There's beef between them due to corporate drama but it has nothing to do with her being female and him being male. Okay some of his asshole traits are specifically male, like trying to get women to sleep with him for positions at his company, but their conflict comes from him thinking she's a gross weirdo slob who does her best work out of sight and her feeling like he passed her over for a big promotion. As the movie goes on both characters are revealed to have a little more depth. Dylan's an asshole for sure but he's not irredeemable and Rachel isn't as innocent as she seems.
As mentioned, Dylan depends pretty heavily on Rachel. She starts to develop a crush on him. She begins to deliberately sabotage their attempts at being rescued so she can remain on the island and keep Dylan in her power. She spies on him bathing. When he makes a particularly bold attempt at escape, she drugs him and pretends to castrate him (similar to Hard Candy) as punishment. His fiancé arrives at the island to look for him and Rachel kills her. I don't think you could flip these scenarios and have it remain a black comedy.

I just saw Iron Lung myself and I hard disagree. However, I have quite a bit to say on this movie. I actually think Mark is correct with Iron Lung. It is practically begging for a theatrical release. It's a great horror concept and a good idea for a movie. That being said...the concept of the game can be stretched into a 90 minute film. What Mark tries to do is stretch it into a 2 hour and 10 minute film. Which is beyond reasonable.
Let's start with the script. It has no business being this long. I don't really see why we have this whole middle bridge when the climax is much more interesting. You miss nothing by just jumping to it. He also adds a lot of side-lore about a dying world, but it comes off as Sci-fi channel tier writing and it's hard to care about any of it since we don't see it. It's fine to characterize our submariner, but when you try to make it more than characterization in a brief backstory...it's just not necessary. Less is more, but it's Mark's first script so I won't hold it against him TOO much.
What I will criticize to hell and back though, is the editing. Holy shit what a poorly edited movie. It's the worst edited movie of 2026 and I fucking saw Primate. The best way I can describe this movie is to think of how you would edit a movie, and use every wrong instinct you could possibly have. That's Iron Lung. It practically ruins the movie. The shots are linger too long on the wrong things. It's sloppy, choppy, and jumpy. It doesn't linger long enough on shots that matter. It's like Bayformers on cocaine. Maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but I highlight it because the point of the game and story is this creepy slow lurking build. So a jumpy editing style is the complete antithesis to the point of the movie. It shouldn't be as fast paced as it is. The script is a slow bleed. The pacing is slow bleed. The medium it's based off of is slow. Why is the editing so hyperactive? I think a lot of people who have issues with this movie would find that the real culprit is the editing.
Lets move on to the good-Mark is a good actor. In fact, not just good-potentially great. In the right hands and some good role choice, Markiplier would and could be an A-list tier actor. He has that charisma and I even found lines that were never meant to be funny-hilarious, purely because of the way Mark says things. He brings a good range of emotion too. He can do emotional beats when they're needed and his anger and frustration can radiate the scene. He does command SOME screen presence. However, much like his videos, he needs a foil. He's not a sole lead and he needs dueteroganist roles. I hope director's are paying attention though because I really do believe this is a breakthrough performance.

Out of the other YouTuber movies that have come to light, Iron Lung ain't bad. Far from perfect. Far from great. However, when viewed as an entry to Hollywood-not a bad start. January was a good pick btw. Unfortunately you're up against Sam. I expect Send Help to knock this out of the water(blood?) when I do see it.

Although I still found it boring, upon further reflection I can acquiesce that it is an interesting premise for a movie. I would have preferred a more... creative adaptation, rather than what is basically gameplay portrayed in film.
I do agree it's not a bad entry into Hollywood.
