How are you doing? - Kiwi Farms Wellness Check

Surprisingly good: had to give a major presentation that I was told, at last minute, has to describe the work of my ENTIRE team instead of just my work alone (basically tripling my work load). I tend to overthink/over-worry when giving a new/different presentation for the first time. It wasn't perfect but it was way better than every other update presentation (when everybody else shits the bed, supervisors tend to not be as nit-picky towards your work it seems). Feeling serene. 😬

Got a parking ticket yesterday, even though I had a permit to park for over a month. Turns out your permit needed to be activated by yourself after the administration activated your permit first (of which I was not communicated about at all). Hoping the traffic cops take it easy due to me being new (hah!). Worst-case, my ticket fee goes towards campus "green transit developments" (AKA tearing down dozens of parking spaces and replacing them with a single expensive EV charging station that is never used and probably has a large carbon footprint), so I kinda want to buy an SUV in protest. 🙃

My best friend is coming into town next weekend for a whole week, and he's moving back next year, so I'm pretty stoked. A year away turned into 3 way too fast, and its been over a year since he even made a weekend trip with life being so crazy recently. I've missed my buddy, and video calls just doesn't cut it, but still, we talked for 2 hours this morning. Hadn't had a chance to talk like that in a long time. Usually its just 10 minutes of catching up. And he works for Jack Links, so he's bringing me a 5 pound bag of jerky, which he gets for 15 fucking bucks. Also, I learned today that Jack Links makes all the walmart and costco store brand jerkeys. I fucking love that costco jerkey, and wish he could get THAT at the company store, but I'll take what I can get!

Not too bad, waiting for it to be the 10th of next month already, so i have money from this real estate transaction. Going to pay off all my debt (about $15k), then I might try to get a business loan to set a little something up.
Also probably buying a couple of 3D printers for reasons I'm not posting here because I don't want any of you glowniggers to know.

Had an interesting day. Boyfriend got off work early and it was really windy so we decided to go to the local lake for one last visit before it got too cold for the year.

We got fast food on the way home and planned to watch Netflix and relax but our day was quickly switched up by finding a dead deer in the pool at our house. In the deep end. We spent a decent amount of time pushing it to the shallow end, while one of us grabbed the antlers and the other grabbed the legs and pulled it out. It didn't seem to have been there long, maybe fell in last night. It smelled....like death. The property next to ours is empty field so we managed to drag it further over there so the coyotes could have at it. It's an invasive deer species, not local but I still feel bad it died. He was pretty cool looking. Hopefully nature can make good use of it now.

Had routine visit to primary care doctor today. Need to lose some weight. Had put that on the back burner while recovering from the spinal surgeries. Still have some back muscle tightness and discomfort, not quite to the level of pain. Doctor referred me to physical therapy to help with the back muscle stuff. Will go some, to get exercises I can do at home, on top of the walking and doing things around the house. Back in a month.

Got the new tension rod shower caddy today. Had purchased one last week, but couldn't assemble it due to a bad part. This tension rod caddy was different than ones previously bought, used a "twist tube" that spun uselessly in my hand. Let company know. They said they'd send a replacement part. I'd already had enough of their piece of shit. Recycled it. Not worth time, effort and money to send back. Found an OXO brand tension rod caddy, got it today. Like night and day. Cost much more but worth it. Much more substantial that the first piece of shit. Heavy aluminum. No assembly needed, just pull it out, fit it in, and latch it down. Came with three shelves and a large soap dish/tray. Took about ten minutes to remove OXO product from box, fit in, latch it down, add shelves and put the various soaps, shampoos, etc., on the shelves and soap dish. Don't believe I'll need to buy another tension rod shower caddy again. 👍
