How are you doing? - Kiwi Farms Wellness Check

I get being a bit more dry in the winter, but I have become a static electricity factory lately. It doesn't help that I wear fuzzy stuff like sweaters, socks (on carpet) and flannel to keep warm. I'll regularly touch things and feel the static. I touched my computer just now while plugging in something and got a pretty decent shock. I was worried it would mess up my pc. My boyfriend has jokingly told me to ground myself before touching him, but now it's becoming completely serious. I don't know how to fix this.
I also get shocked any time I touch anything metal, living, or electronic all winter. Wish I had a suggestion how to fix it, just giving you a general "this sucks and me too," fam. It's gotten to the point where I flinch every time before I touch my husband or plug in a game controller. I even bought some yarn dryer balls because they supposedly absorb static electricity from clothes but it's a bust. Saves us money on disposable dryer sheets, though.

Best advice I got is invest in a good home humidifier. I have to double up on mine just because of how dry shit gets in the winter, particularly my skin and sinuses. Sleeping is a crapshoot on whether I'll be able to breath due to dry-sinus-congestion. =/

I watched the first episode of big mouth's new season and I feel like going back to smoking. Another episode of Tachycardia be damned. I think I'd welcome it at this point.

Back in early 2019 I drunkenly watched the first two seasons of that and (also drunkenly) wrote a cringey rant on it here (without even addressing the main stuff IIRC). Anyway, drunk or not, that show sucks for multiple reasons.

I’m actually kind of worried that I might have coronavirus. In the last 2-3 weeks, my husband has worked with 2 people who ended up testing positive, and he’s been on paid quarantine leave since last week just in case. During that time he started running a low-grade fever and just feeling weak and cruddy, having some mild shortness of breath, no coughing. He went to get a test yesterday morning but we won’t know the result for 3-5 days.
Now, I’m having issues too. I woke up yesterday and had a bad cough all day, then in the late afternoon I could feel that I was running a slight fever. Tested it at 99.5, didn’t take anything, and went to bed early. I was really achey and my hands and feet were like ice. I just woke up and thought maybe I was feeling better because the aches were gone and hands and feet had warmed up. I took my temp — 101.5. Lol looks like it’s DayQuil for breakfast.
I don’t currently work outside the home and I don’t usually go places alone, so I’m certain that whatever we have was either brought home my my husband or we were both exposed to it at the same time, at the grocery store or something. Going to wait it out and see what his result is because I feel confident that if he’s positive, I probably am too, and vice versa if he’s negative.
The good news is we’re both young and have none of the other risk factors, so even if we do have it, we’ll probably be okay apart from feeling like crap.

I'm doing better but last week I wasted a giant dead rabbit because I got it out to defrost for the burmese python and then forgot about it.
I’ve done this before while thawing racers and ball pythons. It’s never fun wasting feeders, much less ones that aren’t your typical rat, mouse or chick. If it hasn’t been out for too long you can probably get them to try to eat it.

I’ve been doing better myself, I discovered how much I enjoy keeping isopods as pets, so I’ve been trying my hand at breeding them and I plan on releasing some of them into my reptile enclosures.

I threw it in the backyard so at least wild animals can eat it. I didnt want to just throw it away.

Isopods are cute, I have some for cleanup crew in my roach tanks.

What do you keep that eats snakes btw? Because my first thought was hots (namely cobras).

. . . roach tanks? :\

I keep exotic roach species, like hissers, giant cave roaches, horseshoe crab roaches, and rhino roaches (the species I've had the most trouble with, which sucks because they cost a small fortune). I just think they're neat.

When I'm more financially stable and there's less rona I want to add another species. I really want extinct in the wild roaches but green bananas also sound cool (especially since I hear they also make good feeders).

I have a couple of corals and a cobra. They’re pretty interesting, but unfortunately hots tend to demand more feedings than other snakes. I’ve been enjoying the isopod raising save for the odd dwarf whites showing up in my vulgare tub every so often. Those guys seem to be able to teleport.

Oh that's cool, in my state it's basically impossible to own non-native venomous legally. I've heard corals can be difficult to keep alive in captivity, how do you manage?

The only hot snake I really want is a copperhead someday. I've had a few hot-ish inverts though (vietnamese centipedes, widow spiders, and old world tarantulas). I was actually just given a brown widow a few days ago, I'm pretty happy about that because I've been searching for another widow since my black widow died a few years back from old age.

One of my friends has a problem with teleporting dubia roaches. It's weird because dubias can't climb smooth surfaces like hissers can. At least dubias are pretty harmless and good feeders.

Thank you, corals are mainly snake eaters but can eat lizards as well. A lot of snakes like that don’t do so well on rodents. I try to think about and regard them more through the eyes of a snake or lizard breeder to get past that stigma about cannibalism or straying from the standard food items. I find that even my colubrids tend to like the occasional lizard, chick or smaller snake, like my gopher snakes.

You could do well with a copperhead if you already have an understanding of handling centipedes or nippy snakes. They’re pretty popular as beginner hots because they’re local to a lot of areas in the states so antivenom is always available, though you most likely wouldn’t need it. Vietnamese are the nastiest of the S dehaani species, so if you can handle them then any other hot invert should be a walk in the park save for maybe fat tails and death stalkers.
