How did you find out Phil in the first place?

i just looked this up. May not be what you are talking about cuz in 2014, but this guy was good. god damn, he got some really good salt out of DSP. Makes a funny joke about panda and gets Phil talking about mental illness and society, :story: (apologies for the fred fuchs video download)

He was Phil's Bluespike. The kid must not have been more than 14 at the time, absolutely hilarious how he riled up Phil.

I found out about DSP through LTG. I don't remember the exact details but ever since I've been watching this man fail at life and make it publicly known.

I found him through LTG. I can’t remember where I saw the famous “wash the taste of my dick out of your mouth” video, but the comment sections kept referring to him as black DSP. And the rest is unfortunately history.

I definitely found him through Street Fighter 4 stuff WAY back in the day when he had like 5 channels he spread his content across. I was a huge SF4 player and outside tournaments, he was the one regularly uploading dumbass content for my teenage self to enjoy.

Was actually a pretty big fan back then, I can't even lie. I enjoyed his Heavy Rain Playthrough a lot but when I did some research on who he actually was, well, it started to turn me off of him. Then the whole debacle with Project 7 happened and he turned on John and Howard and it was like, alright Philliam. Can't do it anymore.

And he's only gotten worse since then, it seems. Maybe I should've realized it way earlier. Oh well. Still plenty of funny stories out of him at least. Still can't believe Viscant almost beat the shit out of him in a sanctioned fight.

Became aware due to other tubers referencing/laughing at his famous Toobin stream. After that intro, can't say I'm an avid follower except to see if he's still breaking his own fail records

I think I randomly clicked on the "Down the Rabbit hole" docu and then started watching him play Injustice 2, in utter disbelief. My friend and I spent months repeating "Can't blahck ahnline".

I found Phil from the parody of him in the YouTube Ave series by DasBoSchitt. I thought the character was fucking hysterical because of how obnoxious he was and someone in the comments said “Yo is this DSP?” and I was like “wait…what? This dude is based on a real person? No fucking way.” So I did some internet searching and found a Know Your Meme page and the rest is autistic history. I think the first video I watched was parts of his Heavy Rain playthrough then it all clicked and the character of “Phil” made so much sense.

I first was exposed to DSP around 2015 when he was mocked by Retsupurae (RIP) in that "A day in the life of DarksydePhil" compilation they did but didn't care enough at the time to look into him as a cow. The dick beating of 2016 incident made me laugh pretty hard but I was still hesitant to jump into the DSPhere because of the fuckton of lore he had. When I actively started following Phil was the 2020 bankruptcy case. His blatant lying to the judge and his 40,000 dollars of money taken from literal cripples to spend on a mobile game fascinated me.

ReviewTechUSA was talking about how he almost became a lolcow then realized the error of his ways. He referred DSP and Wings as examples that he was emulating at the time.

I had never heard of them, so I searched and the rest is history.

I am pretty sure the first time I heard about Phil was either directly when the "incident" happened on drama alert, or a bit later in a PewDiePiew (now privated) stream fails video from around the 2016 / 2017 era (pre fivrr experiment and PUBG bridge). But he was only an afterthought. Later I watched the down the rabbit hole when it was probably below 1 mio views, but I couldn't tell you when. I forgot about him again and then happened the ProJared incident and Phil went viral. I remembered him and that was when I started actively following the staggering downfall of Phil Burnell and be part of the youtube, twitter (not anymore) and later Kiwifarms (first lurker, then member after the WWE Champions reveal) detractor community. So I guess I have my 5 year anniversary.

I heard about him shortly after Dark Souls released, maybe an article on Kotaku about how terrible he was at the game. That playthrough was highly entertaining, kind of like watching Homer Simpson working at the nuclear power plant. Now all of his playthroughs are sanitized and rife with begging and hand-holding.

That whole Era before Twitch was a goldmine of failed LP's.

I was watching LTG before him and just found out through LTG himself. He was ranting per usual and then said something about being called Black DSP. And it went downhill from there.
