How do I avoid becoming Lolcow

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
If you have the self-awareness to ask this you're probably good, fam. :feels:

yeah trust me, just be down to earth and self aware and just be a decent good human being. The crazy narcissism is really what makes a lot of cows hilarious and besides, if you’re writing a thread like this, I doubt you dont have it. Just take it easy and dont forget your meds<3

Also be careful about powerleveling/intimate information online. Well making it easy to find all over etc

Be willing to admit to personal fault. People are wierd and sometimes behave in goofy stupid ways. Can't help it. It happens. Best to just acknowledge it happened, resolve yourself to be better next time and move on. A love tap on your pride by people who can tolerate your presence is a muuuuch lighter sentence than being a laughingstock.

You can be a real weirdo online and as long as you're not bothering anyone. If someone decides to bother you, then don't say anything and just block them. 99.999% of trolls will move on to someone more entertaining and you can go back to making videos about ponies.

Find an inward ‘happy place’ to retreat to when people get you down or situations frustrate you rather than lashing out on a public forum. Just think happy thoughts, press-ups, worry beads, rosaries, times tables, prayer or going for a jog round the block can work (and there won't be a public record of your activity for everyone to laugh at at the end of it).

Also acknowledging people who disagree with you as being wrong rather than downright evil is a good starting point.

Don't post pictures with location metadata (especially things like selfies) and don't use a name that can be traced back to a large, embarrassing internet footprint.

If you can manage to that, you're pretty much golden.

1. No personal info.
2. Do not sperg out. Be calm and humble.
3. Focus on making the art better. That means taking critics in stride.
4. Don`t have scitzophrenia be the only thing about you. But don`t be ashamed of it either. You have many facets, all make you, you.
5. Don`t be a pedo, lech, zoophile, or general loon.
6. Don`t block people who aren`t spamming dumb shit. Never a good look.
7. Be self aware. Ask, "What would OPL do?" If it's what you're thinking of doing, reflect on yourself.
That should do it. Good luck on the comic.

1) Don't be Boogie.
2) Don't be Carl Benjamin
3) Don't be Shane Holmburg
4) Have a sense of humor
5) If you're having a bad day, don't shit on people on the forum. Believe it or not this is one of the more honest places on the web and if you're an artist above all things you want that honesty to remain.
6) Mental illness is fucking awful, you aren't the only one on the forum who has it and the hardest part of it is not letting it take over who you are. Lots of other folks have said this and I'm echoing it because it's a very hard thing to accept.
7) Don't get a blow up doll named Julie and film yourself mounting it. This goes double for Guts Gets some. I still have the scars in my brain from that video. Why did you think 12 quarts of whiskey, a box of cherrios, and a webcam was a good saturday night combination!?

Stay cool. That's the base of social interaction right there. Dont talk shit, dont overshare, don't over invest and be polite. If you start a blogpost where you ramble all day about weird shit and get into unnecessary confrontation then shit gets sticky and you'll get a thread. Keep a good face forward and you'll make it.
