How do people stand without having showers for long?

The longest I haven't showered was for a week, it was because I was on a vacation and had no constant water flow due to the water pipeline was damaged. I felt ashamed then.

I think people who deliberately don't shower (those who find retarded excuses like "muh deprayshun" etc etc) are retarded and stinky. Do they not feel shame for being dirty and stinky?

i agree with OP and i also think the same way about not brushing your teeth. whenever ive gone a day or two without a shower/bath i feel terrible and i desperately need one. the longest ive gone without a shower was a week while camping with no running water. i still cleaned myself with wet wipes. but i still felt the need to grab a shower the first chance i got.

and whenever ive gone without brushing my teeth during the day i feel terrible, my mouth feels gritty and dirty. i dont know how anyone stands not taking care of themselves.

i also dont get the 'muh depreshion' for not cleaning yourself. even when i was desperately depressed and suicidal i still took showers. in fact a long hot shower made me feel a lot better. it think those people are just slobs using any excuse to not bathe themselves.

A week? What the fuck?? What is this pussy shit? Y'all think a week is long? Bro! I've gone MONTHS without showering, bitch! You think you can surpass me, the LICH KING, uh-nuhh! (...) Months? Yep! They thought they could defeat the Elden Lord, ain't that something? Ain't that something bro...

I thought this was gonna be about people having trouble standing while taking a shower
There's chairs for stand-in showers for people whose legs or hips don't work too good. It's actually really nice to see. They're plastic and uncomfortable, but they allow people like poor ol' meemaw or Billy who just had his leg broken in baseball wash themselves easier. More like a sitting stool if anything.

Executive dysfunction can vary a lot case to case. In my case at my worst I'd still shower whenever I had the energy to get out of bed, but if I didn't then I didn't. It's not like I'd forget, I would mentally still want to do it but feel physically paralyzed or weighed down.
I think it has more to do with having no will to do anything if it's actual suicidal depression, if they've been at it for a while even after the worst is over then they're probably slobs making an excuse.
There's a reason consistent hygiene is one of the main ways of getting out of this

I think people get used to it, and stop smelling themselves. Kinda gets automatically filtered out. Also, if they don't start getting rashes or whatnot, they might experience better skin and hair than usual. No need for moisturizers if you have a constant oil coat.

Habit. Humans get habituated to everything.
Make yourself shower twice a day for a month, and after that you'll feel dirty showing only once a day.

Make yourself shower twice a week for a few months, and that'll feel totally normal after a while.
