How do you deal with knowing that everything is finite and ultimately pointless?

Nothing lasts forever however you can leave a legacy that lasts longer then your lifespan and makes its way onto the pages of history. Even though our modern day "progressive and inclusive" culture is;determined to rid the world of the greats of the classical era. Many other cultures are taking great inspiration from them. While western philosophy wanes in the west I've read more lititure and books and series from Japan, china, and Russia that seems to be taking the reigns and great steps to at the very least preserve the memory and stories of the classical era.

Nothing is finite and the sands of time do wear things away. However it's is from the past we can apply that thinking to the present and make ourselves have a better future.

"Cattle die, kindred die,
Every man is mortal:
But the good name never dies
Of one who has done well"

An edglord forum isn't a great place to ask this shit, but here is the thing. You worry about what life means, but what the fuck have you done to make life mean something? What have you built or created? What are you doing to make your name worth remembering? That's how I find purpose.

3 words: "Don't care lol", if everything is meaningless then you give things meaning. Stop being a nihilist fagler and enjoy your life, whether through growth or fun. You know what you love, so go ahead and do it.

Seriously, wanting to last forever is just insane egoism. What's lasting forever going to get you if you can't enjoy the present? Life is good on its own terms. Is a sunset worthless because it only lasts an hour?

I don’t worry about it. The world may not revolve around me but my world needs me to exist. So I take from the world what I need, give back what will help it, and keep what I can for my world.

How does anyone know that? The universe is one of the most complex places that we currently know to exist and we barely know anything about it and to reduce it all to just a mindless cosmos experienced by one of the only intelligent beings in the universe kind of doesn't do it credit. Some will try to explain it away as just a product of chaos, but with every passing moment, we get new things that challenge our understanding of our own essence. I think for the most part, I do my best to try and not only treat me and others good while also being ready to defend myself, but to treat the Earth with respect(as new age bullshit as that sounds) as this is the place that gave birth to life as we know it.

Completely predictably this topic is full of weapons grade cope, people get very upset by this question/thought and try to do everything to ignore it or mock it.

If Allah swt exists than things having meaning, if Allah swt does not exist than this entire thing is completely pointless and none of our lives matter, not one iota and you'd have been better off if you were a rock.

Making your own purpose? Just feel good nonsense said to deflect from a potentially awful, meaningless reality.

We all make our own paths in life. That's up to the individual to figure out. But I've never been against people removing themselves from the equation if they've given up.

At least there's an eternal life to look forward too. Otherwise we won't have to deal with clown world for eternity. Or Soviet Union 2.0 but with sunshines and rainbows plaster in our T.V.s when we're drooling in our reeducation daycare camps.

i struggle with this too, ngl. but at the end of the day i recognize two things:

1. Even if your body is rotten in the ground, you only truly die when someone says your name for the last ever time.
2. If one day there will be nothing but blackness and my consciousness will cease to exist, then I should enjoy the gift of conscious thought for as long as I have it.

I realized a long time ago that I'm never gonna change the world for better or for worse. So I live my life to its absolute fullest because I know there are no consequences that will follow me into death. I do stupid shit and I enjoy doing it because each day is an experience I'll never get again.

The key to enjoying life is being just selfish enough to realize that your actions won't matter in the long run, and you'll never see 99% of the people you meet again, so the impact you leave on strangers isn't something you need to deal with.

Murder. Someone even slightly inconviences me, I will never have to deal with them again. Assuming, of course, that everything is finite and ultimately meaningless.
