How would you describe "The autism community?"

I've seen the term thrown around a few times on the site, in such terms as "big day for the Autism community" or "HRT hit the autism community like crack hit the blacks" and stuff like that. If any of you could provide a straightforward term of what this community is and who falls into it, that would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say it's like the gay community. There's people who are autistic who can enjoy things or perceive life through a lens besides their group identity. I'd say the capital A autism community is primarily interested in being both validated and celebrated for their differences while also asking to sit at the same table as an equal to everyone else.
They obsess over stimming or how life will never be fair because of said differences. They clutch pearls at the "neuro-typicals" that just couldn't understand their dilemmas. They proudly proclaim how they're drawn to certain things because of their inherited/born conditions. Yet... at the same time, it's "just" a disorder. It doesn't make them. It doesn't define them. They should be included in the society they actively set themselves apart from.
Essentially The Autism community is like any other "community" built around a set of differences believed to be genetic rather than embellished. Just like blacks don't need to act like niggers, trans people don't need to be self-obsessed deviants and lesbians don't need to beat each other, autists don't need to ask to have their cake and eat it too. But like any other modern "community", they do stupid shit because that's what their community indulges them in.

Keep in mind, I actually like a good deal of Aspies/autists. But there's a difference between a dude who's socially awkward or likes trains and a "TRUE AND HONEST NEURO-DIVERGENT 189 IQ GIFTED DIFFERENTLY ABLED HUMAN" who constantly is a cunt to people yet wants to be taken seriously.

Being gay is a literal sin in the eyes of the Lord, there is quite the difference there.

I wouldn't call KH1 shit, but it definitely is the most clunky mainline game especially the original PS2 version. Most of the hatred towards 3 is because of the lack of FF characters, how poorly the Disney Worlds interconnect with the KH World, and how easy the combat system is. I wouldn't really call 3 clunky though and I think it is over hated.

It's mostly women from what I can tell and either fairly high functioning but young ASD women themselves or mothers of ASD kids who want I'm a better mum than you brownie points.

In both cases they are annoying fucks who want ASD to both be a seriously disability that everyone needs to accommodate and be hypersensitive to at all times, but also not a disability at all and actually super awesome and amazing.

And I say this as both female autist and parent of autist.
