I'd say it's like the gay community. There's people who are autistic who can enjoy things or perceive life through a lens besides their group identity. I'd say the capital A autism community is primarily interested in being both validated and celebrated for their differences while also asking to sit at the same table as an equal to everyone else.
They obsess over stimming or how life will never be fair because of said differences. They clutch pearls at the "neuro-typicals" that just couldn't understand their dilemmas. They proudly proclaim how they're drawn to certain things because of their inherited/born conditions. Yet... at the same time, it's "just" a disorder. It doesn't make them. It doesn't define them. They should be included in the society they actively set themselves apart from.
Essentially The Autism community is like any other "community" built around a set of differences believed to be genetic rather than embellished. Just like blacks don't need to act like niggers, trans people don't need to be self-obsessed deviants and lesbians don't need to beat each other, autists don't need to ask to have their cake and eat it too. But like any other modern "community", they do stupid shit because that's what their community indulges them in.
Keep in mind, I actually like a good deal of Aspies/autists. But there's a difference between a dude who's socially awkward or likes trains and a "TRUE AND HONEST NEURO-DIVERGENT 189 IQ GIFTED DIFFERENTLY ABLED HUMAN" who constantly is a cunt to people yet wants to be taken seriously.
