Last I heard the Hyrule Warriors sequel might have broken all company records for preorders, that's a pretty big difference if that's the case.
Ryza did over 100,000 in sales and the limited edition of the sequel for the west sold out in a few days which is very rare, but Hyrule warriors even topped that apparently.
Your post suggested there was a difference between Koei Tecmo and Gust. They've been part of the same company for years.
I'm sure they make good money off of the Hyrule Warriors games, but those are owned by Nintendo. They're only published by Koei Tecmo in Japan. Nintendo is the one making the most off of them. Koei likely collects a royalty from the international sales. Franchises they own are going to be far more important to a larger company like them.
