As far as financial blunders go, this is the worst one SEGA has ever made. Not just because of the money lost, but because of why they lost it.

At least the 32X, Saturn and Dreamcast were cool ways to piss away vast sums. This is just sad.

Whilst I'm not confident that SEGA has shaken off the tranny virus that's plagued the gaming industry for the last decade, they have may grown a few antibodies.

OW always felt like a rip off of Monday Night Combat but with fewer moba elements. Unfortunately MNC had retarded devs too and the entire franchise died years ago.

Shame they dropped the ball so hard on that one. It had all the pieces of a good game with characters that weren't completely obnoxious cardboard cutouts while having most of the core gameplay for both pvp and pve already laid out.

Don't even think a remake of it could exist cause modern games wouldn't allow you to fuck with people as much (No more gaining points for instantly taunting people and forcing people to watch it) so think something like that is effectively stuck in era as well.

Main thing that gets me with all these diverse character games is everyone just feels like a checkmarks rather than characters I really want to give a fuck about.

Can understand it though since people forge their identity around these games so having a "omg literally me" on the roster helps.

Dude what I'd give to have a hidden camera on the meetings where they pitch these games

I want to see what kind of specimens develop this and think is not going to be humilliating at best
You'd be fucking disappointed. It's top level rich people who don't give a shit about video games talking business strategy and what's hot, then probably a fruitcake or two with marketing slides.

Then once the fruitcake shows overwatch and apex legends numbers to people who have never picked up a controller in their lives, the suits nod, the fruitcake goes back to the studio, and then the faggots at the studio dilate together.

That's how it always goes. Enter board room, show slides of popular thing's success, suits see big number good, retard walks out with approval. World of Warcraft's success is probably responsible for literally billions of burned dollars at this point.

What, did Gearbox pay them to make something more of a faggy cringe flop than Borderlands 3?

Even more remarkable is the fact that it was never meant to be as big as it became. The Orange Box wasn't much more than a stocking stuffer with Portal and that Half-Life not-a-sequel. The hats and whatnot didn't come around until it went F2P around 2010.
I'm not even a TF2 trader, but I've played long enough that my account has like $2k worth of items.... and no, I haven't spent even close to $2k on it.

Shit is wild.

Game Gender reveal, same vib- ACK!

I don't know why people didn't like playing as Trevor, I thought it was a lot of fun playing as a maniac. His life was all fucked up and he'd say funny things as he was mowing people down. I don't really remember much about the others, I know Franklin was a black guy who stole cars and Michael looked like my stepdad.
I remember a lot of people hated Trevor simply because that one DLC protagonist, Johnny Klebitz, was liked by a lot of players and they weren't happy how his story ended with Trevor.

being ultra hardcore and super punishing is the entire appeal of tarkov.

it's not even really about the challenge itself, it's about the fact that you have a real stake in the match (unless you play scav but that fucking sucks) and will lose a lot if you die. you have skin in the game in a way that doesn't really exist in most other games, that's what gets you emotionally invested and makes the game extremely high intensity despite having very very slow gameplay compared to other shooters.
The best moments of Tarkov is when you get into a properly hectic fight where you actually have to be fast, creative and decisive against an opponent who is just as good if not better than you are. That is when that game shines like no other. Shame it's still got that hacker problem because the Chinese bugmen can't actually play games without spending 4 digit sums for Radar and Aimbot so their tiny dicked existences can win some fights.

Why would a hormone addled sick-looking AGP want to play a video game where he's also a hormone addled sick-looking AGP?

He can get that experience just by stepping out of the door in real life, no need to pay for the privilege.

Just make Medieval Total War 3 for the love of Christ (and none of those hero mechanics or cringe Three Kingdoms shit, back to the Rome II formula)
To be fair, whenever I hear people say "Just make this other game...", I really don't know if I want them to anymore. The people who worked in those games are likely not to be in the company anymore.

I wish more people took the mantle of keeping series alive through either mods or spiritual successors. Even to this day I still find mods for old DOS games like Fallout 2 that completely revitalize the game.

Modding is also fun but it seems to turn you into a tranny if NexusMods is anything to go by.

Sega is killing off a few of their UK companies so this was to be expected. I expect more cuts to CA and Relic until they're closed all together. Sega believes that going forward games will cost on average $70m to create so they want to cut costs where they can.

Good riddance. The SEGA studio in LA (which is mainly Sonic Team, I'm not joking) deserved a reality check.

Was there any reason for its cancellation? i assume the low reception/playerbase of the beta, but from what i saw it ran better than other triple a beta test, but i remember reading that blackrock was cancelling the whole egs score investing since it wasn´t profitable anymore, so it might as well be Sega shutting it down since lgtv+ pandering is now worthless

No wonder Sega pulled the plug. Looks like CA used Dylan Mulvaney for a face model without permission, and tried to hide it by leaving him uncredited!

I find it funny the second people found out about this game, it instantly died
I've been seeing threads for this on /v/ andnever knew what kind of game it was, because it was always just a blueish-purple logo and never actual discussion about what it WAS, just that it had a pretty bad beta phase

I'm pleased to hear that it was an Overwatch copy so bad they just decided to cancel it, it's a brave but sensible move to make in the long-term.
