Mind you, she was allegedly diagnosed with the exact two things she claimed to have some time ago. I can't recall the exact video, but I clearly remember her saying she was BiPoLaR because "BiPoLaR ruNs In ThE FamiLY" and that she felt like she had OCD because "I loVe MaKinG LisTs Y'alL". Also, NOW the bitch doesn't remember about her traumatic past?! What a fucking lying cow.
She most likely does have a legitimate disorder. The problem is is that even if she did get a genuine diagnosis after a series of visits, she’ll quit going to therapy and abuse the diagnosis for pity points. In Amberworld, getting diagnosed “fixes” your problems. Diagnosis is only the beginning of lifelong treatment. Then again, Al seems to think buying expensive water bottles will make her lose weight, so I’m not surprised she thinks like this.
Yep. She's got a brand new set of excuses. Now no one can criticize her, and if someone gets annoyed and tells her she needs professional help, she already got it boo-boo.
She's sick enough that she can't be held accountable for anything (and to try to do so is ableism) but not quite so sick that she needs on-going therapy, meds, or any effort to change whatsoever. It's the Goldilocks diagnosis.
Remember that AL on top of not being very bright, is also a terrible patient. Whenever she makes a feeble attempt to get help, she either misunderstands the advice or purposefully tries to to twist the words of those helping her. Sometimes, it's to make them sound like they agree with her, making them sound like an idiot, or sometimes it's to make them sound unreasonable, making her look like a brave self advocate.
In any case, I can almost guarantee that no diagnosis was given. AL likely rattled off her symptoms during the consultation period, mentioned her own ill-informed opinions, and the psychiatrist said "Well, that sounds like it could be worth looking into in the future." And when pressed with "But do I have bipolar depression depression OCD, Doc?" could only reply with "Your symptoms could definitely point to a couple of those things."
Therefore, AL totally got a formal for real diagnosis, guys.
Being as charitable as possible towards the doctor, it was probably that or something like, "Well, we can't rule those out. Let's start you on some meds to stabilize you a bit and see what symptoms persist". As
@sperginity said, it's not impossible to get a quick diagnosis of bipolar (though AL lies so it's hard to say how likely it is in this situation) and started on some meds right away. It's more common (and more dangerous) to mistakenly diagnose depression when it's actually bipolar, so given her family history and some of her other traits (reckless spending, for example) it's not totally unreasonable.
Another thing many people lose when they take their bipolar meds is a sense of superiority, it is quite a blow to many people who used to regularly have delusions of grandeur. She might start to realize she looks terrible or that her recipes aren't very good. I am curious to see if she will stick with her medication or not. Medication non-compliance is a really common problem. People remember the enjoyment of mania and forget all the bad parts.
This would be fascinating. She confuses superiority with self-esteem, so I'm sure she'll stop taking her pills as soon as she doesn't feel proud of herself for only gaining 10 lbs when she could have gained 30. Wouldn't want the poor dear to be too hard on herself now, would we?
I am kind of leaning this way since ALL the maladies that she was "diagnosed" with, she has self-diagnosed herself with as having in the past.
Exaaaaaactly. See, this is just proof that the haydurs were wrong and she knows what she's doing. Why go to a doctor when you already know what's wrong with you? Why stick to Weight Watchers when you already know how to count calories? Now, let's all give her some benefit of the doubt because we've been proven wrong, guize: When she says she knows what works for her or what's "not for her," she 100% knows what she's doing and we can all take a seat.
alright well since this video is a month old she would have had her follow up by now and her mood stabalizers should have been doing their thing.
I would bet that follow up never happened and if her recent twitter activity is anything to go buy, I feel confident in saying she decided they werent "for" her and probably decided oh I dunno some shit like she's just going to journal more instead
and I really anticipate here is that she just got herself a fresh crop of excuses to keep being a shithead who refuses to change
nothing new under the sun
how yall doin today?
Agreed. Based on the little we've seen of her recently, there's slim to no chance she's sticking to a treatment plan. Quelle suprise.
It's all always about getting her back into her comfort zone on pillow mountain. Anything that hints that she can't live that way -- even going to a doctor once a week -- has to be ignored or rationalized away so she can get back to her routine of gluttony and sloth. This last year has probably been the best year of her life -- money to spend, food to eat, and no pressing need to get out of bed at any point.
