For kiwifarms.net over Tor, there would be a potential security risk if not using HTTPS. Not for a .onion site though.

FYI that in a few days you will need to accept a self-signed certificate via the Tor browser. The main reason I have to force HTTPS is that XenForo is written in such a way it tends to force URLs to be HTTPS no matter what I try to configure it to do.

I have never heard of a CA revoking an SSL cert before btw.
