Same here, amigo, same here... and that's to say nothing of the suicides and people who ended up in prison for decades on top of the ones who are dead.

The one decent thing about getting old has been the fact that most of the people I knew who got into that shit have either already died or finally got their life together and quit.

I remember 25 years ago, people used to make jokes about "Hillbilly Heroin", because it hit here in Appalachia first, and it wasn't until rich kids in more prosperous places started getting hooked and dying that you ever heard the words "opiate crisis". This part of the country has been fucked over by the wealthy so badly with the loss of steel and coal jobs that have been shipped overseas, but that wasn't enough, those rich pricks had to start selling us poison to kill ourselves too.

Speaking of hillbilly heroin, look up tianeptine. I actually bought it online to help with my PTSD, and then it got banned. It's also called gas station heroin. I was pissed that my vendor stopped shipping it to my state, but it may be for the best, considering the damage it's capable of. I'll be fine without it, if it saves other people's lives.

I've seen that shit around here too, Zaza Red or something like that... I didn't know it got banned. I keep hearing that the DEA wants to ban kratom too, which would be a shame, because I know a couple of people who were able to finally get off of opiates using it as a bridge until they were able to get totally clean.

They did the kratom ban shtick a decade ago and it didn't hold up. I once used it for a month after being in a car accident. Doc only have me a week's worth of pain pills for a serious injury. I got a bag of kratom and brewed tea all the time. Once I started feeling better and felt mostly healed, I stopped kratom cold turkey. I had cold sweats and panic attacks for like two days. No sleep, no appetite. Horrible.

Also, I was afraid I was going to die, and I wanted to die because of how shitty I felt.

I said that Ghostbusters 2016 would suck because the jokes in the trailer weren't funny. I got backlash and was told that I hate women.

Then, what do you know, it bombed.
Pretty much all "woke" media is like this. Films, AAA games, even entire industries like comic books. There's always some excuse or deflection from supporters or blackpillers, but reality wins in the end.

It goes the other way too. I get shit for predicting the success or failure of certain "chud" media. Spite media like Daily Wire movies or Vox Day comics have a limited shelf life for the same reason woke media does. It's putting political preaching over entertainment. Games with women in skimpy outfits often succeed, and there's much ado and handwringing about that, but the titties are not the sole cause of success. It's that they're creating entertainment for a audience without compromise. It's not rocket surgery.

I broke from my Bernie Bro friends in 2015 after digging more into him and Trump. Told them there was no way the DNC would allow Bernie to run vs the Clinton machine and that people weren't just supporting Trump for le funni maymay or because he said "you're fired" on TV.

This was in the very brief window before the media started in with the narrative that Trump is a fascist nazi who would carry out The Turner Diaries and The Handmaid's Tale at once. Once that started up, they refused to look at any clips that the media were shortening to take out of context, even if it wasn't from a right leaning outlet. It still wasn't a heckin SOOOOURCE because it didn't come from some reddit wholsome chungus approved tranny

I used to say that I never said anything about the actresses, because I didn't, and that technically I was calling out Paul Feig since he was the director.

how about the opposite? times you were confidently wrong about something and got humbled?
I remember back in the 2000s when my friends and I had a long autistic debate about next-gen consoles at the time. A particular friend was staunchly pro-Nintendo and anti-Sony: he argued that the then-new PS3 cost more money to manufacture than they could sell it for, due to Sony paying a large price for the internal Blu-Ray players. This seemed utterly preposterous to me. I scoffed and told him there's no way Sony would sell a console at a loss, right? Surely it would make more sense for Sony to license the Blu-Ray laser technology and just manufacture the disc readers in-house, right?

Well, I was wrong: Sony did in fact import their Blu-Ray players from a third party, and the unit costs caused them to sell the PS3 consoles at a loss, with the intention of recuperating the costs later by jacking up the prices of games. Sony just wanted to get the PS3 on market as soon as possible, despite the deficit. Turns out I was playing the fool.
