No. Chemical castration hasn't stopped pedophiles from harming (torturing, murdering, sexually assaulting) children because it's not merely a sexual fetish to pedophiles, and judging by their actions even if you cured the "fetishization" of children the wanting to harm children part would not cease to exist. In fact in many cases of chemical castration it led to even more damaging abuses inflicted on children by pedophiles.

"Virtuous pedos" don't need standing up for, because if they are actually virtuous and in complete control of their perversions, then there's absolutely 0% chance anyone would ever even know that they are a pedo.
If they don't talk about it, and never creep on children in any way nor seek CP/Loli shit, it becomes basically impossible to out them as a pedo, thus they won't need any special protections.

So in a way the issue of "virtuous pedos" kinda solves itself. Even if we enacted laws to kill all pedos on sight, those types of pedos who never let their pedophilia influence their actions or behavior in any way would still remain completely unknown, whether you wanted to protect them or not.

Even self describing yourself as a "ethical pedo" is a massive red flag in on itself, because it means the whole pedo thing is important enough for you to try to make being one at least somewhat more socially acceptable. Someone like that is at least subconsciously looking for excuses to satisfy their urges in some way.
If they were completely fine with never satisfying their urges in anyway and capable of shutting the fuck up about it, they would be impossible to identify as pedos, thus social status of pedos would be completely irrelevant to them

Curing them would probably be more effective in trying to protect children in the long run.

A treatment for pedophilia would entail way way more than just treating the attraction to children. You'd have to simultaneously also be fixing a person's predilection to power abuse, taboos, and purity. There usually ends up being way more to pedophiles than just being attracted to kids, its why you get so many people who suddenly become pedos after gaining money and power.

To answer the question though, sure. But I don't personally believe a treatment is ever gonna be developed in my lifetime that beats the threat of a bullet.

The best feasible treatment to pedophillia on a mass scale right now is probably an automatic pardon for vigilantism against offending pedophiles. You'll suddenly notice the numbers go way down if that happens.

Afaik we don't have any tech that would be able to differentiate between generic stress and arousal with acceptable accuracy. When it comes to something as damning as diagnosis pedophiles, i would not be satisfied with anything less than DNA matching levels of accuracy for the test.

Someone knowing that they are being measured in this way, and that the result of the test could label them as a pedo, could start to panic once seeing the child even if they had zero sexual interest in children. Then the machine would pick up the increased heart rate etc and give a false positive. It has the same issues as a polygraph.

No. Same way it can't diagnose depression, anxiety disorder etc. Issues like this happen at much smaller chemical scale for MRI to detect. MRI is really for detecting abnormal brain structures etc, not for differentiating between brain signals.

There have been some studies that "Depressed people are more likely to have this and that brain structure abnormalities" but that's not a diagnosis, it's just a correlation. There still are tons of people with obvious depression who don't have these brain structure abnormalities, or people who have them but aren't depressed.

Chances are that by the time we have the technology to map the exact neurons being responsible for pedophilia and other associated creep behavior with some 99.99% accuracy, we would also have complete enough understanding of the human brain to use that knowledge to just be able to engineer any personality trait etc one might have, and thus cure the pedos. Or alternatively use that technology to brainwash people into becoming completely obedient drones by basically rewiring their brain.

Post mental illness utopia probably won't last very long, until it just turns into a complete dystopia. But at least no one will be capable of feeling bad about it.

These children are usually hypersexual towards other children even before being molested by child molesters (they are also more likely to be preyed upon by child molesters). The majority of pedophiles are a result of child molestation as a kid, porn addiction (rarest path to pedophilia), or degeneracy (eg. extreme fetishes, being a furry, being transgender, etc. These increase the chances of you getting exposed to child porn and inadvertently developing a sexual attraction to it much like a male can be taught to become sexually aroused at the sight of a shoe and then be trained to require the shoe in order to become sexually aroused.).

2/3 times it is their own fault they are a pedophile. The 1/3 time it isn't their fault is when they were molested. Those are people who truly cannot help their sexual attraction towards children.
Remember, sexual fetishes are environmentally attained, not genetically attained. Men sexually desiring teens is an evolutionary trait. Men desiring prepubescent children is not.

The exact neurons responsible for pedophilia would vary greatly from human to human as sexual fetishes start off from association (memory). You'd have to sever a disturbing amount of their memory and all the neurons that connect to said memory (which could well be 25%+ of the total neuron population, which is not good).

Like what ArnoldPalmer said, even if there were a cure, I worry about pedos being able to spread their genes. Reminds me of how bad eyesight and caesarean births are now more common than they were in the past because we now have "cures" (glasses, c-sections) so the genes for them aren't selected against.

And a cure would probably be very expensive, time-consuming, and not permanent. It'd be something like how HIV patients always have to be on medication and how transgender people have to keep dilating. I wouldn't want a larger proportion of the population to only be functional if they were held hostage by medicine.

A .22 round is about $0.10, and shooting is way more efficient - you can put down about 30 of them a minute if you're using a 10/22. Hanging is more time consuming.
