I believe that on some level people are like roombas. We seek to find and map the boundaries around us, the limits. So we'll go farther and farther until we feel pushback, and then we know where the limit is. Parents have a responsibility to communicate and impose those limits, otherwise your kid ends up a fucking freak. But as members of society, we all also have a responsibility to impose those limits, lest our society become full of freaks.I didn’t believe this for years, but you can absolutely talk yourself into homosexuality if you just want to be special that badly. All of the most permissive and “open-minded” parents I know have weird ass gay and trans (and fat, and tattooed) grown kids, sometimes all of their kids claiming to be ‘queer’, while those with normal or strict parents just turned out…normal. What a coincidence! I’m sure plenty of people just naturally feel attraction to the same sex as they grow up but come on.
