I'm getting too old for this shit.

Start a family with a trad wife if you want but be careful that you aren't using it as an easy way to earn control over people or escape your current problems. You can't just quit a family like you quit a forum because your children will depend on you and you can't throw a fit when they're not fun to raise anymore. Having a family that depends fully on you takes effort and patience, you need to be in a decent place mentally/financially and be ready to face the problems that will come. There's no winging it from the beginning if you want it to last and not end in the typical modern disaster.

As for what you want to do with the forum, take some time off before you decide. I'm sure there are plenty of users that wouldn't mind talking to you and giving you advice but try being a normie for a while to balance things out. You said that you want to be selfish so invest in yourself, change your name for better prospects, get a job or further your education, socialize and get laid. A lot of people, not only you, would benefit from stepping away and experiencing average day to day things without the internet, especially when they're in a dark place and can't see a solid future ahead of them.

It's up to you if you want to nuke the site, nuke some parts of it, or whatever, so think about it and the possible consequences, and then do what you feel is best. Don't be too hard on yourself and ejoy your weekend.

Once the Vic case is decided one way or another it will die out.

No one who posts there will want to keep track of Funimations bullshit. Jamie Marchi and Monica Rial will be phased out of the industry so the cow potential is low. Most of Weeb wars is disillusioned with anime conventions so will move on to other things.

The board will die out at some point.

This is pretty much WW's fate.
The cow threads will be moved to the Lolcow Subforum (maybe some threads will be moved to Community Watch?) and the rest will be shuffled into the Spergatory alongside past subforums.

I've always paid special attention to critical opinions instead of complimentary ones. It's not new, Mr. 2019.
From another life of translation - listen to the criticism when it's worthwhile, but have some fucking balls about your own self-worth and positions.
I can understand that, but not every critical opinion needs an actual written-out response. Sometimes it's just bait.

Otoh I guess I'll take my advice from earlier and not tell the man running the forum how to run the forum.

If I were you I would imagine myself 10 years down the line and think of the ways it could play out if you keep the site vs don't. If in 10 years KFs was still up and had retained some of it former glory would running it make you more fulfilled than having a family and being off the radar? I can't really answer that for you. I know personally "josh has a family" would be less fun for me than "josh runs KFs" but you aren't living your life to please me.

Going to echo what a few others in this thread have said.
1. No one can fault you for wanting to be free of undue stress.
2. It's soul-sapping to continue devoting tons of energy and passion to something which you no longer enjoy.
3. Prioritizing your income streams is a good idea, might give you a better feeling of specifically what you want to focus on.
4. Once a community grows too large (I know it's idiotic, coming from a relatively new account), it loses both its focus and original spirit.

Personally, I don't want to see the site shutter. It's given me good laughs over the years and made me grateful for avoiding a few of Chris's pitfalls.
Some sperg here will likely gladly take up the mantle for the Farms' twilight years.

The world changes. Sometimes it change in ways we want, sometimes it doesn't and there comes a time in everyone's life, when they ask themselves what am I doing? Where am I going? Is this what I want for the future? Will I regret the decisions I make now? So maybe you should take a step back. Go on vacation or get hobby and if things still seem to be getting worse then just drop everything and leave. But the truth is that no matter what you chose now, no matter what changes, problems will always rear their ugly heads.

And if all else fails? The French Foreign Legion always needs men, it's a shit way to spend 5 years but it will get you out and meeting new people at least.

@Null Disable new sign ups and force logins to view the content of the forums for a good couple of months and let people filter out. Thataway it’s your ideal look but no touch and the discussions here don’t have an affect on the outside world. Then nuke it or open it back up again.

People by and large are spergs but there’s no longer a social stigma with extreme leftist discourse, so the only people that will take advantage of free speech are rightist spergs. Think about the last time the roles were reversed and college professors boldly stood for free speech for their students dumbass opinions. The right wanted to quash that shit pronto. Yeah it sucks most people only stand for free speech when they’re the ones being censored but we live in an imperfect world.

I don’t understand how to give you money or I would. The big problem there is that it’s so doxable. Which leads to a lot of problems with the site, esp, in regards to a certain user doxing everybody. Kind of hard to have a community when everything you say can be scrutinized to find out who you are. A lot of us would love to know you better and vice versa but it’s risky given the nature of our livelihoods and how at risk they are by association with you and the site.

Consider samefagging under a new alias and joining the conversation as someone other than the owner of the site. Lastly, all communities go through a life cycle and there is no shame in dying a good death as opposed to the Alzheimer’s equivalent of shitting yourself in the bed you live in unable to recognize the world or anyone in it.

p.s. as dumb as it is there’s a pretty good parallel between your post and Paul Atreides’ character arc. A testament to Frank Herberts skills as a writer and the fact that the situation in which you now find yourself is something other men have also had to grapple with

As it should be. Part of the reason I never wanted to get involved with internet drama because this will all be buried and forgotten one day.

And yet here I am.

I think that "Josh has a family" and "Josh runs KF" is the best future and a perfectly possible one. He just needs help from other admins he can trust to help take some of the weight off of his shoulders. The man needs more time to take care of himself and find love. I think it's very mature of Null to realize that he wants to be a father and husband, and although I don't want the Farms to stand in the way of that, I think he needs to do what is right for himself.

And Null, if you decide that the time comes to shut down the farms, be sure to archive the entire thing and put it somewhere it can be accessed or even reposted by someone else. I'd rather it not come to that, though. I really appreciate everything you've done for this site. I'm not done make memories here yet.

God I sound sappy.
