I come here because there's almost nowhere else you can have semi-detailed discussions on topics like politics, internet weirdos, etc. Free speech online is long dead and expressing any opinion that's not PC or whatever will get you booted from just about anywhere, the exception being fringe sites only weirdos go to in very few numbers and chans full of shitposting and nothing but. I know it sounds retarded, but Kiwifarms is, in my view, important for keeping up free speech. Even if all we're doing is laughing at someone porking a blowup doll from over a decade ago it's still a place we can do it, where we can talk with likeminded people, disagree without going apeshit with people we're not likeminded to, and generally shoot the shit and talk a variety of topics without getting censored and booted off because we pissed off some high-on-soylent egotripping admin. I hope the site doesn't shut down because for what it is, there's nowhere else like it anymore, and that's a sad thing.

The only thing I can add is that it makes sense as to why this site burnt you out, it definitely evolved into something greater than just a lolcow forum. Kiwi Farms is one of the last places people can go to talk freely about anything 4 chan is 25% journos, 50% feds, 8 chan is filled with people too edgy for four chan and will be like it's predecessor in a year if not less, Redit is in a purity spiral as we speak, Facebook and twitter are way too dangerous to show your power level on and are still censored. 9-chan is a good alternative but it will still be linked to you so you'll be facing the same problems you currently are if all the political spergs, me included, move to it.

The Farms was one of the few places to get actual information and videos for the george floyd riots and stood up as a beacon of free speech. Plenty of people use the farms for information and you can pick up E-celebs using farms terminology. I don't think you should abandon the farms but the reality is it's only a matter of time before it gets removed from the internet. Censorship won't stop until people stand up and considering the man we elected to stop this bull shit is just monitoring things we're SOL.

As for trump destroying 230 I know my opinion as well as others was that it's only a matter of time before wrong think gets axed from the internet so might as well burn it all down. It wasn't so much about using an anime avatar to call Obama a nig nog but kind of an acceptance that this site will eventually be banned so we might as well take the rest of the internet with us. Most of us politispergs are refugees and we got to see sites we loved get pozed before our eyes so we're kinda jaded at the prospect of a free speech site being allowed to exist. It's less throwing 230 out to own the libs and more about throwing out 230 for M.A.D.

As for solutions here are some relatively exceptional suggestions.

1. Take a break maybe a month or two off and come back see how you feel.
2. Hang out in some of the non political boards, lord knows everyone is vying for your attention, see this thread.
3. remove A&H and all political threads, TDS, TES, ETC keep a permanent link to ninechan on the website with text like "Sperg about politics here", the only thing I ask is you leave TDS and TES till a week after the election.
4. Set up another charity drive to get money stored up, maybe some more shirts/stickers.
5. Play more stupid games on stream, the life is strange playthroughs were fun.
6. Start a love quest with the female kiwis on this site, who better to marry than someone who understands your autism. (kind of a joke but you know, why not try.)
7. If you have to shut the farms down do it, it will be a shame we'll be sad but in all honesty it's only a matter of time before some country, probably the U.S., does it and we all know we're here on borrowed time.

There's very few websites that feel like 'Old Internet' anymore and have a substantial userbase. Forums are either for niche topics, or have their own problems when it comes to censorship. You either have to use websites where everyone blends into each other anonymously or risk losing your career over wrongthink... and it's been repeated here a few times, but the other 'bastions of free speech' seem like they're on life support or run into the ground by pedophiles/edgelords.

Not really too much into the politics side of the site, so I don't have much to say on that. I came here to laugh at people from Tumblr.

I understand if Null feels the need to throw in the towel, but I do worry what sort of precedent that sets from here on out for websites. I think a lot of people want to see 'le evul KF' burn and will be very happy that it's harder for a group of people to archive their lulzy/shitty behavior.

Honestly @Null I was going to offer a bigger screed but I'll just break it down to brass tacks.

I like it here, there are a lot of intelligent people here and I enjoy the community here. This place has helped my own mental health in a very great way. However, I am a serial lurker and have learned the lesson of not tying myself to any online boundary pusher for long. Things have often turned entirely to shit so I cannot attach myself to anything in good conscience and I make no apologies. If this place is rolfbanned? I'll move on as always.

My only real suggestion is to in addition to taking a break yourself, move all politics off the farms and onto 9chan. Let people sperg about headlines and then forget about them a week later. Barring that, put the farms on hold for a week, put it in time out and let the faggiest poli posters take their autism elsewhere, ad they will not be capable of just waiting for the farms to come back. Those that do will try to shit up threads in revenge and will be more obvious and therefor bannable.

Keep 9chan on to keep the rest of the community here and the political BS contained. Force everyone to take a breather.

Splintering off into another site would just make things worse. More severe moderation might possibly help, to fix shit getting virulently off-topic (I.E. shut the fuck up about the Jews in the riot threads). It would get you called Literally Stalin by a lot of the faggy /pol/ refugees, but if they'd be unwilling to take it to a more on-topic thread then they're retarded anyways.

I think I'm going to do my part by trying to report more spergery. Maybe just putting a "don't be retarded" rule for people being topic-breaking fun-police would work.

I regret waiting so long to make an account (and then even longer to post). It was fun enough just to watch, and there was always going to be another day to get involved.

Unfortunately for both Null and the rest of us, as disappointing as things may have become here, it's unclear if there's anywhere better to go. It feels like everything has been getting worse for years. Almost every hobby or social space, both on- and off-line, has fallen under goverment/megacorp control and become overtly political.
