“The era of the lolcow is dead”.
Yeah, pretty much.
It feels like everyone on social media is some kind of wingnut. Finding a true lolcow these days is hard. It reminds me of the direction Lolcow Farm went after it reincarnated from Maxfag/Stamina Rose. People just kept posting and posting about dumb thots with badly shooped selfies and getting catty about it. Which is why I bailed for this place.
Chronicling anyone is becoming harder because internet culture has really changed. People get spooked so fast now and rush to DFE. Even trolls suck now. They are not creative anymore and just default to rape and death threats and general middle school level harassment campaigns. I don't condone trolls because lolcows should be observed from afar and true lolcows make their own lols without the "help" of anybody else.
Threatening blue checkmarks just generates more stupid Gamergate and muh patriarchy type articles that we have already seen a millon of. It generates more angry tweets we have seen a million times over.
To aproximately quote Billy Crystal: "It's not fun. It's not funny."
I believe he was talking about Howard Stern while being interviewed by Stuttering John. But I keep thinking of that quote every time I see morons dogpiling minor cows and checkmarks for three seconds of pathetic lols. Because the line between lolcow and generic idiocy on the internet is being erased by people who can't stop aiming troll bullets like drunken hillbillies.
I tend to stay away from the politics here and rarely post in political threads. I may read them and rate posts. But I find the constant pollitical torrent a turn off.
I like this place because I don't have to deal with being "cancelled", "deplatformed", "unpersoned" and all those other nonsense terms just because I don't fall in line with clown world's idiologies.
After seeing what happened to my city due to the riots and how it affected yellow phase openings and the ability to just go shopping for food in general, I think my support of business owners over looters would have me crucified on Twitter in no time. Those types of places are just not for me. I am too guilty of wrongthink.
I too often feel like free speech is not a hill worth dying on anymore. There are so many restrictions and everywhere you go someone is screeching at you because you refuse to conform to SJW ideals. The wild west days of the internet are a fading memory and they have been replaced by being banned from Twitter for hurting someone's feelings. The internet in general is just not a fun place anymore.
