If the Democrats want the Conservative White Males out of the military well they wont have a military because that is at least 60% of the force.

I expect their approach will be more subtle but also obvious. Mandatory training sessions where race and gender are discussed. Now this is a problem because the military solved racism in the 60s. Any hint of it gets you a towel party in the barracks. Units need cohesion and anyone who doesnt gel because they dont like the sergeant's skin color finds themselves running into quite few doors by mistake. I can think of no method more tailor made to infuriate the troops and make the officers mutinous then to introduce diversity quotas and intersectional feminism training modules required for promotion


This would make the standing army political, and pretty soon they will start wondering how they can get what they want, politically.

If you're expecting the National Guard to do ANYTHING other than stand around and collect a paycheck, you need to be checked into a mental hospital. At absolute worst the protesters try something and force a shootout; but that requires the protesters to start shit and get hit, not the Guard.

The likeliest outcome is the Guard begrudgingly stands around, the inauguration happens with minor protests that get pounced on at lightning speed, and the Democrats come away strutting like they have a huge national mandate to do whatever they like - which they don't.

Edit: Look at what Russia and China are investing in for warfighting. Yes some of is matching American tech but the biggest effort is how to negate our advantages in a digital battlescape. Im curious about how much damage the troops will cause. Having them standing around and do nothing leads to things like "look what I what I can do with a can of hair spray and a lighter" type competitions.

In history after every war society often gains a huge influx of veterans. These folks quickly become a source of trouble if they re not handle appropriately. • If Iran and Saudi Arabia go to war, US involvement is likely because HURR DURR MUH POST WW1 ERA FOREIGN POLICY and we'll suffer very high casualties because Iran has an actual army, however lesser, while thus far we've only fought Arabs in the Middle East who are shit at conventional war but experienced at being a constant asymmetrical threat. Also Iran will have no moral qualms about using dirty bombs or chemical weapons, so enjoy that bit of fun.
• Russia will probably invade the Caucuses. Where, who knows, spin the wheel and find out. USA won't get involved.

Honestly, I think you can always count on a military because people will always be attracted to the thought of destroying people they don’t like and blowing shit up, especially if you tell them they’ll be a much adored hero for doing so.
