Dude is a filthy rich opportunist, who has fucked over business partners left and right for decades, cheated the system whenever he could... and people expect him to change anything about the system that allowed him to retain and enlarge a vast economic empire? I said it earlier. Theres a demand for leadership but whats avalaible is sorely lacking.
Think of living in a town that for decades had no plumbers. Suddenly a guy opens shop. Hes a plumber. Your sink is leaking. You do some research on the guy and turns out he ad some issues else where. But hes the only one with tools and credentials. Hes going get the job for showing up despite being less then average. Its not a personality cult. Its very under served market.
As for trumps charisma? I now know why people hate him for his manner of speaking.
