He would be Joe Biden's current age in 2024.
I mean he could run but he won't be the same man. I don't know if he would have the same Energy as he does right now. Especially if he has to spend the next four years fighting to keep his life together despite the world turning on him.
Well I guess that's a start. But first Biden's got to stop calling maga people nazis and NRA terrorists. If he wants to be a true healer he has to stop that shit. Also I would like if he would continue space force. I feel like that shouldn't be a partisan issue. It should non-partisan. But I'm worried dems want to get raid of it becuase Trump and apence created it.
Biden is part of the administration that didn't pursue charges on Bush for War Crimes. Granted Trump is a different animal but do they really want that contrast?
"Oh, Bush's administration lied to the public, started an endless war, destabilized the middle east, left a million civilians dead, we're cool with that. Trump incited violence against the political elite, now that is a step too far!"
Nothing would show the callous nature of the political elite than that.
He has set populism back 100 years. He could have went to that rally and said "I won, we know it, but they stole the election. But that won't stop us from Making America Great. That's why right now I am declaring the formation of a new political party, the MAGA party. It will be made up of YOU. We will spend the next 4 years putting people in local office, state offices, governors, Congress. And in 4 years we will run a terrific candidate for President. Maybe it will be me, maybe it won't, but they will have my full support and be chosen by YOU. Now go over there, sign up, and we're not going to let them bring us down. Let them have their party on the 20th, we'll celebrate today."
I doubt he put populism back 100 years. Biden is what led to Trump. Biden has an establishment cabinet that will do establishment things. Which will piss people off even more.
Biden won on a coalition of "progressives" that believed they could pull Biden to the left, minorities who think Democrats will give them a better deal and Normies who just want "things to go back to normal."
Progressives already failed a "Force the Vote" pressure campaign for Medicare for All. Bernie Sanders commission with the Biden campaign failed miserably. Portland's mayor has denounced AntiFa by name so they can't hide behind "alt-right provocatuers" anymore. Jacobin got censored on Facebook just for discussing Biden's economic policies during the Hunter Biden email scandal.
Biden has already told Black Civil Rights leaders to quit with "Defund the police." Also not to expect any "quick action" because we have a Constitution, which means he will resist using executive orders. I also think Biden has refused to meet with BLM leadership.
Normies are going to be disappointed because Biden is going to institute a mask mandate and a six week lockdown that no one is going to follow which will lead to more lockdowns that even fewer will follow. Biden will either attempt to crack down hard (in a authoritarian kind of way) or be revealed to be completely impotent. Even if the lockdowns go away, the economic landscape has been completely changed. "Normal" is never coming back.
We will also have an inflation crisis which will be crippling. A more militant China eyeing expansion. His cabinet is full of wall street lobbyists and people who "lack experience" for the job they were chosen. And Hunter Biden, the lovable fuck up, God knows what shenanigans he will get into over the next four years.
Now that Democrats have the house, Senate and the white house, they will have weak excuses for not moving ahead with "progressive" policies.
So the way I see things, 3 major groups believe Biden "owes them something." Something Biden cannot and will not deliver on. He will quickly alienate and whittle his coalition down to "corporate elites."
A steady hand and charisma will be required for the next four years (to be honest longer than that.) But Biden has neither of those things. Biden has not even taken office and has already reneged on campaign promises. He's going to spend his presidency with both feet firmly jammed in his mouth.
All those disaffected people on the left will look elsewhere after Biden.
To my understanding, another piece of impeachment would be that even if he decided to never run again (though considering how stubborn he can be I think he'll almost definitely come back 2024 at least), impeaching him would also take away the benefits a president usually receives after their term - the salary, the secret service detail for life, the yearly travel expenses, all paid for through our tax dollars.
That makes sense.
