I know “enlightened centrist” is a meme and trying to advocate that both sides are shit and we need to back to old times is a likely stupid endeavor, but I really think that both sides have really made things worse. The left has doubled down and gone all in on their MAGA purge at the first chance they got not giving a damn about how much they’re going to piss off those that survive their attacks and deplatforming, while the right seems to be fully gung ho on some crazy plan involving the arrests of Biden, Harris, and everyone in Washington because the only reason we didn’t get a clear audit and investigation into the election is because so many people were in on the scheme to oust Trump by any means necessary. In fact, there are still people that think Trump will get four more years and we just have to wait for the fireworks to go off before we learn of the grand scheme Trump pulled off like Death Note or any other great keikaku that ensured that Trump’s lawful and clearly won re-election was assured before he even got up that morning. 1/6 happened because nobody was content or patient enough to wait for a 1/21 in some year where Trump would have rode off into the sunset after giving his farewell address.

Either way, you got people saying both sides are shit like that statement is a signal they’ve reached enlightenment. I’m just saying that if the right knew when to fold em, or at least acknowledged their dream super audit looked to be a pipe dream at best, and if the left could hide their glee at being able to pursue their pet projects, and actually decided to just leave MAGA people to their little bubbles and just say “bring us your best candidates and we’ll beat them like we beat Trump” instead of trying to declare open season on them and nuke and purge and Cultural Revolution their way to their left wing utopia, the Capitol storming probably would not have happened. That or we wouldn’t have a bunch of Twitter people calling it 9/11 or Pearl Harbor just because there wasn’t social media for either of those things.
