Is it all astroturfing?
I don't know but I do know that I love reading YouTube comments on videos about this scam:

"Uncomplicated family fun"

I'm even more confused. Old, uncomplicated games exist and they're much less expensive than the Amico. You can play Kirby's Adventure on the Switch, it's much better than anything you'll find on the Amico. Or, if you want to save money and actually interact with your family, buy Hungry Hungry Hippos. Amico supporters are either fake or simply NEED to spend money.

Slopes just dropped a video about the so called "physical releases" for the Amico. Tommy sent him a bunch of these releases, which Slopes then passed onto Ashens to unbox, and a whole bunch of other British retrogaming YouTubers gave their hot takes (apparently based on Ashens' unboxing).

For what it's worth, the physical media is nothing more than an RFID card shaped like an Intellivision cartridge that downloads the game to the user's Amico.

The more I go down the Amico rabbit hole, the more convinced I am that Tommy Tallarico is a lolcow.

Irrespective of your personal opinion on DJ Slope (I know he's a bit soy for some Farmers' tastes), this interview with TT is worth sitting through if you want to see what I mean.

Even if TT isn't worthy of a lolcow thread, the Intellivision Amico community is probably worth a CW thread, although I'm not sure if the Intellivision Amico community would have much in the way of long term milk. Maybe a general Retrogaming Drama CW thread would work? (there are plenty of cows in the retrogaming scene; not necessarily YouTubers either).

Just search for "Slope Amico" on YouTube and you'll see what I mean; stans and detractors are just as bovine as each other, and they all seem butthurt that Slope's interview was generally neutral, albeit with some tougher questions being asked towards the end.

You'll also learn that backing a crowdfunding campaign is exactly the same thing as making a direct investment into a company. Were it not for the galaxy-brained Amico detractors, I would never have known that.

I generally like DJ Slopes’ videos, so it’s pretty painful to see him giving Tommy the benefit of the doubt on a console/project that has lost that right a long time ago. I used to think that maybe Pat and Ian with the CU Podcast fixated too much on the Amico, spending half an hour talking about it each time there’s a minor update, but given how many softball interviews and coverage Tommy has been able to secure, maybe someone needs to keep pointing at this thing and reminding people that it’s bad.

Amico updates are like Pat the NES Punk's own little KF corner, where he and Ian keep their listeners up-to-date on all of Tommy's antics. They played a clip on CUPodcast #289 of Slopes Game Room asking Tommy what kind of encryption the RFID chips use, and Tommy stumbled over his words and smugly refused to answer. It was so obvious he was caught off guard and pulled something straight out of his ass.

Karl from WATP and Vito Gesualdi did an episode on the small time youtubers who are friends with Tommy Talarico and act like a cult. It was pretty fascinating, first time I'd heard of it. I can't wait until it is released as the Ouya 2.

First off, lol, that ratio

Second, this turns out to be a shitshow already
Imagine promising 10 deep dive videos coming in September... Then two months later you release the first one.

And have had to re-release it four times now to attempt cover-up of all the stolen assets. They also forgot to blur the explosion on the title screen, which itself is also from the original game.

My guess is Tommy got cold feet after this line from TechRaptor:
we've also asked World of Tanks developer Wargaming and War Thunder studio Gaijin Entertainment for their takes on the matter.
Lmao not yet another reupload. Imagine thinking a company that takes this many attempts to post their first "deep dive" video of a simple 2D game is competent in any way.

Edit: The blur on the tank on the title screen, lol. Why do that if it's simply innocent "placeholder" graphics?
This is hilarious. I'd bet Techraptor's query to the original devs prompted legal incoming and hence this change...

I gotta admit though. Intellivision Karate is looking pretty good!

Why are "haters" always "jealous"? Jealous of what? It never makes sense. Unless you have something truly envy-worthy, shut yer mouth.

Ironic that this Iron Deed says haters have no zip and no "emoji clusterfuck" because they played too much vidya. You know, in a comment section about vidya. He's complaining about da haydars all being in their 40s and 50s. While using an old timer term like "zip".

Then we get Patrick Prevenas here with "yakking pieholes". Unless he's 80 it sounds ridiculous. Sounds like something grandpappy says when he tells you about how he had to walk 70 miles through neck deep show to get to school. He and his 12 siblings only had one shoe between them and they all had to take turns wearing it. So shut up and eat your green beans. When I was your age they weren't even invented yet.

The Game Librarian with his Luigi and Yoshi avatar saying Nintendo is getting old. :cringe:

It makes me wonder if some of these people are shills.

I get sleazy used car salesman vibes from Tommy.

I don't understand how anyone still could care about this silly gewgaw. Is it all astroturfing? I refuse to believe that anyone genuinely wants a new Jungle Hunt that looks and plays like a Tomb Raider Flash game where you throw coconuts at alligators.
It's practically all Tallarico ever talks about on his Twitter. He's pretty desperate and most of the responses to him (as of a couple months ago) are telling him how full of shit he is, so I'm not sure most people are buying the bullshit he's slinging out.

Speaking of which, at what point was it decided he was going the NFT root? Aside from the common grievances of NFTs, I have a feeling it's another last-ditch effort to try and appeal to suckers. If he can't get the nostalgia market, maybe he thinks he can get the weird new tech investor market.
