I’m hoping that the success of Sonic Mania and Streets of Rage 4 will eventually rain down upon Sega’s less popular franchises, maybe score us a Shining Force 4 or something
Sega can't do anything right. SoR4 must have been some kind of The Producers situation where it was supposed to lose money and the plan backfired.

What retro console do I have to purchase to finally get a new Vectorman?
PS2. Well, depending on what you mean by "new"

Just some notable updates on the Amico per r/Intellivision_Amico (the non-official subreddit)

A name change at this point is dumb, all marketing they have done for the past few years has been based on the name, a change at this point would lose all that marketing and just waste more money on the rebranding on a product which likely was going to flop anyway,

Only way a name change would be smart is if they have done big changes to the console so it's pretty much something new or very different from what it once was. This may not be an awful idea, but again this is a very niche product, can't keep throwing money at it because it will end up just losing more and more money,

SoF4 was Sega licensing out the IP, they have been doing that lot of ips they didn't have plans for. They likely get an upfront fee, plus a percentage of the sales money, while not having to put up any of the cash or development resources themselves. So pretty much low risk for them, but the reward is also low for them.

So far been, but could have missed a few
Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX
House of the Dead 1/2 remakes
Shenmue 3
Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World
Panzer Dragoon 1/2 remakes
Wonder Boy: The Dragons Trap

Everything the company has done has been dumb.

True the only smart thing they could do, is if mass manufacturing has yet to start is to cancel the console. Take the best-looking games and port them to other consoles as budget games like $5 to $10 max, any shitter games that are already made put on PS4/5 as the $1 trophy hunter games and try to fully fund EJ4 with whatever money they have left or can get hold of. Once that is done close up shop or stay as a small publisher depending on how well the plan went.

They've been at it a long time. The Altered Beast and Shinobi games on GBA are some of the worst things you could imagine. That's the thing, Sega's usual policy is to license out out their IPs to mediocre-to-awful devs who further devalue their brand, so Streets of Rage 4 is something of a fluke. Remakes should be comparatively easy to get right, but even there it seems like a mixed bag.

So what's the new name? I don't wanna watch a whole video from someone starting his show with "Hello humans", recorded with a microphone from a dollar store

This guy actually has a punchable voice and a mic that's tinny with some static in the background. Don't waste 6+ minutes of your life like I did. So long story short, he and the guy who gave him the info don't know. The only thing interesting he mentions is the possibility of scaling things down to be on mobile platforms instead. No word on what the hell is going on internally.

I had actually forgotten about Amico until I saw the thread again on the first page. I have no idea what the reason behind a name change would be if it's already been marketed as Amico. Does someone else own the name? Maybe they are indeed going in a different direction and don't want to confuse consumers. But really, I think it's a little late. Plus it feels scammy to me.

The Amiga corporation seems to be blocking the trademark on Amico.

Intellivision pushed forward on a trademark for Prism that they were sitting on.

So under their e-commerce policy it says this.

"You understand that there are NO set dates of when these game titles will be available and that in order to use your RFID digital media card to download each game, you must have an Intellivision Amico and a secure connection to the internet."

So their not even guaranteed that these games well come out someday.

I don't understand how anyone still could care about this silly gewgaw. Is it all astroturfing? I refuse to believe that anyone genuinely wants a new Jungle Hunt that looks and plays like a Tomb Raider Flash game where you throw coconuts at alligators.
