It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

SoHa? Really? I get why the residents are angry. Nobody likes rich trust fund baby hipsters rolling in with their man buns, sloppy beards, nerd glasses and flipflops. But Harlem was not originally predominately black. Although historically that's how we tend to think of it and that's who really made Harlem history.

The whole story reminds me of when hipsters and Whole Foods rolled into South Park. I'm down with getting these SoHa organic non-GMO free trade coffee sipping gluten free pastry munching hipsters out of Harlem. Only because I hate hipsters so much. I know I'm hipstercist and need to check my privilege. But they're white men mostly. So I don't have to cry too many non-hipster tears.
The use of syllabic abbreviations for neighborhoods and districts which already have established names should be banned. Not every place can be a SoHo. The worst is "BoCoCa" in Brooklyn, attempting to hipsterwash the historic neighborhoods of Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens.

Hell, what will happen if people get "NoHa" mixed-up with "NoHo?"

MANAYUNK, PHILADELPHIA – A child was found with a hypodermic needle in its leg in Manayunk Wednesday evening and an adult male has been charged in connection with the incident, according to Philadelphia Police and court records.

Police said officers and medics were called to the 200 block of Green Lane Wednesday at about 6:30 p.m. for a report of a child being stuck with a needle.

Police and medics found a 9-month-old girl unresponsive and administered a dose of Narcan, an opioid-overdose reversing medication, to revive the girl, police said.

Medics took the child to Chestnut Hill Hospital and treated her for an accidental overdose, police said.

Police said the child is in stable condition at the hospital.

Steven Richard Welsh, 35, of Philadelphia, has been charged with aggravated assault; endangering the welfare of a child with a parent or guardian committing the offense; simple assault with the victim under 12 years old and defendant 18 years or older; and recklessly endangering another person.

Welsh was held on 10 percent of $10,000 bail after being arraigned Thursday, court records show. Welsh is slated to appear for a preliminary hearing on July 18, according to court records.

Police could not say if this was the youngest Narcan administration they have seen.

I wonder how the baby ended up with the needle in her leg. Was she crawling around on a needle strewn floor? Was the father abusive or so high he didn't realise he wasn't sticking the needle in himself? I hope she doesn't have her life ruined by some disease because her father was sharing needles or taking cock to pay for drugs.

Given the quality of care the kid was receiving from her family, it could've been druggie dad decided sticking the kid with drugs would stop the crying. Like the old timey practice of rubbing whiskey on a baby's gums to quiet them down.

Whatever happened, this dude should be locked up for a nice couple years and never see his child again.

Norway 'troll penis' restored to its former upstanding glory

Scaffolding was used to hoist up the protuberance, which is reported to weigh about 12 tonnes (12,000kg.)

The restoration operation was funded by a crowdfunding campaign which raised about 227,000 kroner ($27,000).

But tourists will have to wait a week before they can see the formation in order to allow it to fasten properly.

Cement, glue and metal fastenings were used to re-attach the Trollpikken, or "The Troll's Penis" to the cliff.

Police last month said that indentations in the rock suggested vandalism was responsible for the demise of the stone. They say a suspect has been questioned over the incident.

Indentations in the rock suggested the penis had been vandalised, police said.

Hikers found the stone, which originally came out from the rock face, resting on the ground.

Days afterwards The Troll's Penis Will Be Re-Erected appeal was launched and had received money from close to 1,000 people.

The rock formation is located in the municipality of Eigersund, in the south-west of the country.

Honestly, the amount of screeching from western fans about cultural appropriation from K-Pop and the call for... hilariously - wanting "more inclusion" and wanting black people who speak no Korean IN K-pop is... well there's a lot of it out there.

There was a huge push last year to make black people "included" in Korea.
Sam Okyere (who atleast speaks Korean), a black Ghanaian sort of celeb but doesn't do anything type of guy, was on *every* TV show in Korea, bleating about "the racism he faced in Korea". I think it was Healing Camp or some autistic show that he was on talking about how Koreans are so racist (they are but that's not the point) and they should understand that black people are going to be coming to Korea and they're going to become a fixture in the Korean cultural landscape, so Koreans just need to get used to it and stop being such bigoted shitlords who like to have a monoethnic country. His main reeee-ing point was that he didn't want to be called "Black Hyung/Dongsaeng" (Black Big/Younger Brother) by people anymore.

There was also an American nignog who barely spoke Korean, who joined idol group Nine Muses for a bit, she seems to have fucked off now though.

Jaden Smith also wants to be a Kpop idol, because he's obsessed with G-Dragon from Big Bang (G-D has coped a lot of "you're ripping off muh black culture" from american nignogs a lot too).

There's so many Western Kpop fans (and Korean ones too, like Sasaeng's could rival top lolcows on this site, Phil Style... like ones that break into their favorite idol's dorms and leave bloody pads on their beds, to violent ones that try and kidnap or blow up their idol) that are complete lolcows, who whine about anything from how they hate the idea of senior/junior relationship respect and they wouldn't do that coz someone has to EARN their respect, fuck them being older and how dreadlocks or charcoal face masks are RAAAAAAAAAACIST.

It's pretty amusing when western Kpop fans shit all over asian culture and still think their oppa's will fuck them, because "inclusion".

is there a thread about k-aboos (or whatever you call em)? if not, can there be? this sounds like fertile ground.

Gynaecologists are warning against a bizarre new trend which sees women inserting glitter-filled capsules into their vaginas, concerned that it could have potentially dangerous side effects.

An online retailer is selling controversial capsules designed to glitter-bomb your bits, proving that the unicorn trend has officially peaked.

Essentially created to make your vagina look and taste better – because they’re clearly not fine just as they are - the Pretty Woman Inc website says that the capsules “just enough to make your lover feel that your Yara (water-lady or little butterfly) is what all vaginas are supposed to look, feel and taste like; soft, sweet and magical!"

Women are pumping toxic 'ozone' gas into their vaginas as a cure-all
According to the site they sold out of the 'Passion Dust intimacy capsules' in a matter of days.

But, a growing number of gynaecologists are warning that this bizarre new trend could actually lead to a dangerous infection.

"The vagina contains a delicate balance of good bacteria, which are there to protect it," Dr Vanessa Mackay, spokesperson for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) told The Independent.

"If women place foreign objects inside their vagina, they risk disturbing this balance which may lead to infection, such as bacterial vaginosis or thrush, and inflammation."

Consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist Shazia Malik agreed, saying that the ingredients used in these capsules could cause painful inflammatory discharge and even tiny scratches to the vagina.

"Using a product like this so called passion dust might actually kill off any passion at all," she told The Independent.

"The starch and gelatin will increase the pH as well as adding sugar to vaginal secretions - which will encourage harmful bacteria and fungi such as Candida to thrive.

"This causes increased discharge and a painful inflamed vagina, which causes painful intercourse.

"Also the glitter capsules can cause tiny scratches to the vaginal mucosa during sex, again allowing harmful bacteria to infect the vaginal walls. Even worse it's possible that some glitter pieces may even migrate up through the cervix in to the womb lining and have exactly the same effects there.”

People are using Coca-Cola to enhance their tan and it’s dangerous
However, Passion Dust’s retailer’s pre-empted the backlash by adding a section to its site urging their readers to ignore expert advice.

"Any gynaecologist would tell you that NOTHING should go in your vagina!" the site says.

"If you've ever had vaginal issues you had them before you used Passion Dust anyway. If you've ever had a yeast infection I'm sure it wasn't caused by glitter, it just happens sometimes."

Hmmm! I wonder who's advice I would take? Either a Medically qualified spokesperson for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists ( a clue is in the title) or someone involved in peddling rather silly products for large profit. A tough call for some of those amongst us. At least they have the NHS to fall back on. Though most medical staff will laugh and think what a prat as their patients leave hospital having been flushed clean and treated.

If anyone knows about the Samantha Burns case, there's an interesting development. They got a tip and are digging for the body and the guy who dropped the dime is freaking out all over social media.

suicidal threats, apologies to his mother, the works.

news story: http://www.wsaz.com/content/news/Law--433645093.html

The FBI, Huntington Police and Lawrence County Sheriff's Department have been at a property on Township Road 1466 in Chesapeake for most of the day Monday.

Law enforcement are at the scene investigating a tip in the Samantha Burns case.

Burns, who was a student at Marshall University, was last seen in 2002.

The 19-year-old was from Lincoln County, West Virginia.

Chad Fulks and Brandon Basham were convicted of kidnapping and murdering Burns in 2002.

In the following years, Fulks provided some tips to investigators about where Burns' body might be located, but those searches didn't turn up anything.

Both men are currently on death row at Federal Prison in Indiana.

The investigation is being led by the FBI.

edit: the comments on his page are great. of course he has up a gfm and there's hundreds of comments chimping out in every direction. Apparently he's been a meth user, knows the people involved, etc.

from the comments there. I don't know if this is interesting enough to merit its own thread or not.

Also, I assumed that Glitter stuff was just regular lube with some shitty handcraft-materials mixed in... the fact this is starch and gelatin based makes it even more hilarious.
Why yes, rubbing down starch and gelatin into an orifice that is moist and warm sounds like such a great idea.

adding a few things from the Jimmy Hysell clusterfuck. Apparently was told about "the bodies" by his (ex?) wife, he went to the cops, then she invited the Burns family over for a picnic.

The people posting who are local say she's in law enforcement somehow, and that she's involved in the whole thing in some way.

Neighbors were asked to leave while the cops dig, except for her.

some commentary:
