It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

I'm not sure, is the race traitor pocs getting twitter to ree is better, or would it have been better if all actors were white just with blackface.

If the western world had any balls (and humor) they'd make a special Twitter/Tumblr Trailer for their show with every black character being portrayed as a white actor in blackface and every white character portrayed by black actors in whiteface.

The guys behind Game of Thrones had the bright idea to create a series called Confederate. The show is about a modern day alternate reality where the Confederacy successfully seceded and slavery still continues. As you can guess this is not going over well at all.



The premise actually seems rather dumb. Wasn't slavery pretty much in its death throws anyway due to the industrial revolution? Stopping secession was not about ending slavery. That was just a bonus side effect. But slavery would have ended anyway. I can see why people are upset over this. It's just that I feel censoring other people's creativity because "muh feelings" is wrong. If Benioff and Weiss want to make a stupid series let them.

I've got to wonder though, what kind of effect would modern day slavery have on working class jobs? The series will probably be too dumb to address this. I would imagine that slavery would just be taking jobs away from poor while folks and would increase unemployment.

And yes, POCs are appalled that POCs are involved in the creation of the show. I've heard a few of them have shut down their Twitters. It's very likely that the backlash is going to kill this show. But some of the criticism is actually being lobbed at the fact that this show is getting made before the Game of Thrones prequel.

That would be epic, it would send SJWs and KKK both into an epic online rant which would salt the internet for decades to come.
 
Stubbs the Cat, mayor of Talkeetna, Alaska, has passed away at age 20

Stubbs, Talkeetna’s honorary cat mayor beloved by Alaskans and tourists alike, has died at the age of 20 according to the animal’s owners.

Stubbs’ death was announced late Saturday in a statement from the Spone family, which purchased Nagley’s General Store and the West Rib Pub and Grill in 2015.

Part of the contract, the family said, was that Stubbs would stay with the store.

Stubbs had survived an attack by a dog in 2013 and a false report of his death last year, but spent less time out and about at the general store where he had routinely let visitors pet him. By late 2016 he was largely staying at home, but was spending more time with two kittens the Spones had taken in, Aurora and Denali.

“After a day or two of him giving them the eye and a little growl here and there; they became best friends,” the family wrote. “He got some spunk back playing with kittens. He would even swat at them as they passed and snuggle in his bed with them at night.”

On Thursday night, Stubbs went to bed curled up next to Aurora. When the family woke up Friday, “he was already in heaven.”

“Stubbs lived for 20 years and 3 months. He was a trooper until the very last day of his life; meowing at us throughout the day to pet him or to come sit on the bed with him and let him snuggle and purr for hours in our lap,” the family wrote. “Thank you, Stubbs, for coming into our lives for the past 31 months; you are a remarkable cat and we will dearly miss you. We loved the time we were allowed to spend with you.”

Although Stubbs is gone, one of the Spones’ kittens might be ready to take up his mayoral mantle.

“Amazingly, Denali has the exact personality as Stubbs. He loves the attention, he’s like a little puppy when he’s around people,” the family wrote. “We couldn’t have asked for a better understudy than Denali – he really has followed in Stubbs’ pawprints in just about everything.”

The family asked that well-wishers refrain from calling them, the store or the restaurant, and instead send cards or letters to the store at PO Box 413, Talkeetna AK 99676. A memory book of Stubbs photos is also being assembled; images can be emailed to Info@NagleysStore.com.
