It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

I remember one time I checked the page for 2005 version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and someone had edited it to say that the character Augustus Gloop had been completely CGI and that no one had actually physically played him.

Having said that, it's not like the edits are permanent and incorrect information or just straight-up lies will get corrected in fairly short amount of time. You gotta remember that Wikipedia is fucking huge and that they can't moderate everything all the time, so of course there's gonna mistakes and people just putting in fake shit for the lulz. I think that as a whole, Wikipedia is an extremely valuable source of information, but you should always double check what you read on it.

But then again, you should do that with every information site you use.

I hate this. It's so intrusive. I don't want to donate to a site that has an obnoxious banner begging me to do so. I think a standard donation button would work better.

I read the OP and all I could see in my head was the obnoxiously earnest simper of Jimbo Wales.

"gib money plz"

I hate it when that jumbo egg head's face is on the banners. But I haven't seen it recently. Maybe PR suggested it wasn't a good idea for people to see that smug face on a donation banner. Maybe if he put his face on the banner and asked for donations to remove it...

Apparently it's their yearly fund drive. I made the mistake of donating to them before, but will never do it again.

What about you guys? Do you give enough of a shot about unreliable information (and waaaay too many articles about Pokemon) to throw money at them?

I used to when they were at least somewhat sincere in attempting to be unbiased, even though for obvious reasons they were never perfect at it.

Now that they've simply abandoned that entirely and any contested article simply reflects the week to week political opinions of the trannies on ArbCom I don't care if it burns and dies. The fact they allow absolute fiction like the John Walker Flynt article to exist despite being abject lies start to finish means it is not only unreliable (all encyclopedias and secondary/tertiary sources are by definition), but dishonest.

APPLE VALLEY, Minn. (WCCO) — An 18-year-old man is in custody after allegedly picking up and throwing an 8-year-old boy off of a 31-foot water slide platform Tuesday afternoon at the Apple Valley Aquatic Center.

“It’s been open for 20 years, we’ve never had an incident of this magnitude,” said Apple Valley Police Capt. Nick Francis. “Everybody in the water park that saw it happen are just devastated by it.”

Police said 18-year-old Roman Adams of Maple Grove threw the boy because he was mad that the line was taking too long. Investigators later learned Adams has cognitive disabilities, and that a personal care assistant was with him at the park, but not in line with him for the slide.

“Our investigation focused on [Adams] knew what he did was wrong, he knew what he did was going to hurt someone and he did it,” Francis said.

Police said the boy suffered several broken bones but was lucky to be alive. They say lifeguards were quick to help him until police arrived.

“There’s not a lot of safety mechanisms that you can put in place for when someone commits a crime, so I don’t think another guard or a higher rail could have prevented this from happening,” he said.

Adams was arrested for third-degree felony assault. Francis said Adams’s mental abilities could impact how the county attorney moves forward with the case.

Francis also said the victim was in good spirits when officers visited him at the hospital Wednesday.

Give him the chair.

I saw a blog post about the New York Times who hired for their editorial board, Sarah Jeong who posted lots of racist posts on Twitter. http://archive.is/uSA8x But I guess it's hate against white people, it's not racist.

There's also a good vlog about her.

I got the feeling then she's the next Lolcow who might desserve her own thread on Kiwifarms and even an entry on Encyclopedia Dramatica. ;)

Experts have said the country will face dire consequences if plans to alter the country’s constitution are pushed through.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa recently announced plans to allow white people’s land to be taken without compensation.

It will then be distributed to black people in a move Ramaphosa said will be good for the economy.

But critics worldwide have blasted the proposed change, saying it will spark riots as well as a deep economic recession.
"let's forcefully take the land of white people away again even though bad shit happens every time we do it"

never change, south africa
