It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

Dressed in a fitted white tank and black leggings, her long hair slicked back in a bun, the 38-year-old owner of Uppercut Marketing which promises its clients, 'We make you look really really good,' stood at the door of her $1.6million property and said she was consulting a lawyer.

She claimed: 'They're staking out my house. They're staking out my neighbors. They're going through my mail.'

And she stated: 'So much of what's out there is inaccurate,' but when asked for specifics she declined to comment further.

What is a "buyer"?
https://www.indeed.com › career-advice › careers › what-does-a-buyer-do
A buyer works in finance and business to investigate, evaluate and purchase products for companies to sell or use in their own operations. Also known as purchasing agents, buyers work within a budget and negotiate competitive pricing for the items they want to purchase.
On an unrelated note; there's been a lot of news of the weird animal stories lately, including toilet snakes, boner spiders, and pothole crocodiles.
I found a huge hissing snake in my toilet — it took 2 days to flush it (Archive)

Hissing pipes are a telltale sign of plumbing problems — especially when there’s a snake inside.

That was the circumstance for one horrified woman who found the slithering reptile in her toilet and spent two days trying to get rid of it.

Michelle Lespron had just returned home after a trip, hurrying to the bathroom after a long journey.

Before doing her bathroom business, she discovered a black and pink-colored coachwhip snake, which is non-venomous but can be aggressive.

“I slammed the lid back down right away,” she told JamPress.

Lespron, a resident in the Catalina Foothills area of Tucson, Arizona, called Rattlesnake Solutions to take care of it.

Unfortunately, the pesky snake gave the handler, Nick, more trouble than he expected.

He made three visits to Lespron’s home amid attempts to free the serpent from her commode.

His immense efforts were not without personal cost. In the 11-second video obtained by Jam Press, the handler can be seen grabbing and tugging at the snake before it digs its fangs into his skin and hisses at the camera.

“He’s my hero, Nick at Rattlesnake Solutions is my absolute hero,” Lespron gushed.

Rattlesnake Solutions noted that it’s rare for snakes to settle inside a homeowner’s toilet.

“A coachwhip is a fast, intelligent snake,” said company owner Bryan Hughes. “It eats rattlesnakes, it climbs trees, it climbs houses, it does what it wants.”

Although the snake is no longer hissing in Lespron’s loo, the encounter left her traumatized. Now, she flushes the toilet multiple times before sitting down and won’t step foot in the bathroom without the lights on.

“I always leave my toilet lid closed and my father puts screens on the top of any openings on my roof so snakes and other animals can’t worm their way through,” she revealed.

Many of Lespron’s followers on social media seemed more captivated by the snake’s appearance rather than the frightening incident.

“That is an incredibly beautiful snake,” commented one person. “I’ve never heard of it, but wow it’s so exotic looking.”

“That was a great capture of the hiss,” admired another.
Supermarket shut down due to spider that can cause long, painful erections (Archive)

Everyone split!

A supermarket in Austria shuttered this week after a venomous Brazilian wandering spider was spotted wandering in the bananas, TMZ reported, citing fears that a bite from the deadly creature can cause long-lasting, painful erections.

The Penny market in Krems an der Donau — which is about 45 minutes west of Vienna, the nation’s capital — has reportedly been closed since Tuesday.

The store manager allegedly rang the fire department after spotting the 4-inch black-and-red creepy crawly. Helpers sealed the store’s banana crates, but the spider is still at large, per The Mirror.

The Brazilian wandering spider’s venom “stimulates” an erection that lasts for hours, according to Live Science.

Those who are bitten by the spider can suffer high blood pressure and pain throughout their bodies.

“The erection is a side effect that everybody who gets stung by this spider will experience along with the pain and discomfort,” said Dr. Romulo Leite of the Medical College of Georgia, who has studied the spider.

“We’re hoping eventually this will end up in the development of real drugs for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.”

In 2012, Smithsonian Magazine suggested the spider could work as the next Viagra, to help men who have erectile disfunction. But it doesn’t seem like this idea has legs, as of yet.

This is not the first time this type of venomous spider has wandered to Europe.

In May 2017, “hundreds” of the spiders infiltrated someone’s bananas they had purchased from the supermarket Asda in the UK, according to The BBC.

The spiders spurred the family to evacuate their home.

In the spring, a UK man reported finding a painful and venomous — but not deadly — Huntsman spider in his bananas from the Tesco grocery store.

“I don’t think I’ve ever had a shock horror reaction like it before. I was completely gobsmacked to discover it,” Craig Harrison told Caters, adding it “gave me the fright of my life.”
They thought they saw a crack in the sidewalk — then 3 crocodiles emerged (Archive)
03.jpg

Crikey!

A group of men in India made a shocking discovery when they found three crocodiles living underground in their neighborhood.

Residents claim they heard an obscure noise coming from the sidewalk, which appeared to be cracked, but once they took a closer look, they couldn’t believe what they saw.

Three crocodiles broke through the cracked sidewalk from underground, looking for a way out.

In the clip, posted on Instagram by @mksinfo .official with more than 930,000 views, bystanders gathered together to capture the reptiles before they got loose.

One man, dressed in boots and a red outfit, used a tool to clamp down on the first cold-blooded creature.

As he worked on getting a handle on the crocodile, which was tossing its body back and forth, another croc emerged from underneath.

People chuckled at the frightening and unexpected appearance of the crocodile hidden underground.

The second croc slithered out of the broken cement and ran toward the cameraman, who jumped off the ground, propping his feet on a pole.

Meanwhile, the third reptile remained still, buried under the cement, only revealing its back.

However, if a screaming infant had been near it, the reptiles might have found some energy to make an attack.

New research has found that the amphibious predator — particularly the Nile crocodile — is “attracted” to the shrieking cries of terrified infants in ways unbeknownst to other wildlife, according to The Royal Society.

“The intensity of crocodile response depends critically on a set of specific acoustic features (mainly deterministic chaos, harmonicity and spectral prominences),” the data noted.

“Our results suggest that crocodiles are sensitive to the degree of distress encoded in the vocalizations of phylogenetically very distant vertebrates.”

Wild manatee sex rituals spark issues for Florida police: 'If you see this, no you didn't' (Archive)

It’s mating season for manatees, and a Florida sheriff’s office is urging the public to stop calling 911 over the randy marine mammals.

"If you see this, no you didn’t," the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office captioned a Facebook reel last month that showed a herd of manatees near the shoreline as Marvin Gaye’s famed song "Let’s Get It On" plays in the background.

"We can assure you they are more than fine," the sheriff's office added. "Manatees actually mate in herds like these and often they are near the shore. They mate all throughout the year but generally mating herds like these are seen in the summer months."

Manatees typically mate between March and September, with females then carrying the calf for an 11-12-month gestation period.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission outlines on its website that multiple male manatees will compete to breed with a female.

"Manatee mating herds are interesting to watch as several bulls (males) pursue a cow (female) until she is ready to mate," the commission says on its website. "For your safety, watch these mating herds from a distance as the animals are focused on mating and do not heed intruders in their midst."

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office continued that anyone who spots the manatee sex rituals needs to leave the animals alone.

"So if you see this, there’s no need to call, they are a-okay! And remember touching or disturbing manatees is not only illegal but can also be very dangerous," the sheriff’s office said.

Looks like some folks will fight over Dianne Feinstein's inheritance.

The co-trustees of a trust in the name of Richard Blum — the deceased, wealthy husband of Sen. Dianne Feinstein — were accused of elder abuse against Feinstein in a recent court filing submitted by her daughter, Katherine, who has limited power of attorney over the senator.

The filing, submitted Aug. 8, partially confirmed what had previously been reported by other outlets: that Katherine Feinstein, a former San Francisco County Superior Court judge and current San Francisco fire commissioner, has limited power of attorney over her mother, which the senator signed over to her on July 23, 2023. The recent court filing notes that this entitles Katherine to make legal decisions for her mother in certain civil-related matters.
In the Aug. 8 filing, Katherine Feinstein made the striking allegation that Michael Klein, Marc Scholvinck and Verett Mims, who control the disputed trust, are committing financial elder abuse against the 90-year-old senator. California’s elder abuse laws cover all state residents age 65 and older.
In the filing, Katherine alleges that the co-trustees didn’t fund a trust her mother is the sole income beneficiary of and that they have not made “required distributions” to the senator since Blum’s death in 2022. Katherine, Feinstein’s daughter from a previous marriage, also alleges that the co-trustees are purposely slow-rolling payments to the senator because they “intend to benefit Richard Blum’s [biological] daughters, who stand to inherit millions of dollars that should go to Senator Feinstein if the Trustees never make the required distributions to her.”
Among other asks, Katherine wants the court to suspend the co-trustees, “pending a decision on whether to remove them,” a move she said is necessary to “prevent further loss and injury to Senator Feinstein.”

An IRS agent was accidentally killed during a training exercise. Yeah right, just like Alec Baldwin...

President Biden's IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel has armed agents in the agency's criminal investigations division as gun-wielding tax enforces. Agents must perform routine firearm training exercises to understand basic safety protocols, including proper gun handling, muzzle awareness, and trigger discipline.

On Thursday, one IRS agent was "accidentally shot by another IRS agent during a training exercise" at a federal gun range in Phoenix, Arizona, according to local media AZ Family.

Charlotte M. Dennis with the Phoenix Field Office of the IRS Criminal Investigation Division confirmed the incident involving one of its special agents. She said the agent was transported to HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center, where the agent died.

Firefighters reunited with kitten after storm drain rescue

Firefighter Dom Kuran was reunited with 5-week-old kitten Storm two days after climbing into a storm drain to rescue the young cat.

Firefighters in Massachusetts were reunited with a healthy and happy kitten two days after they rescued the distressed feline from a storm drain.

The Raynham Fire Department said firefighters and local police responded just after midnight Sunday to a report of a kitten crying for help from inside a storm drain in the Princess Lane area.

"Due to the lack of light, and out of an abundance of caution, first responders made the decision to wait until daylight to proceed with rescue efforts," the department said in a news release. "Crews lowered a pet crate, food and water into the drain before leaving to help ensure the kitten's safety overnight."

Crews returned in the morning and firefighter Dom Kuran climbed into the 8-foot-deep storm drain to bring the kitten to safety.

The 5-week-old male kitten, now named Storm, is now being fostered by Raynham Animal Control Officer Linda Brackett. Storm paid a visit to the fire station on Tuesday and was reunited with the crew that brought him to safety.

Lula and his buddies still have lots of wet dreams, dreaming to see Bolsonaro and all who follow him in jail.

Bolsonaro’s Mounting Legal Troubles Raise Prospect of His Arrest

(Bloomberg) -- Former Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro has found himself in a tailspin of legal trouble since leaving office at the end of last year.

Police have raided his home. He has testified to authorities on four separate occasions. Some of his closest allies have been arrested. And late Thursday, local news outlets reported that a top judge granted investigators access to his bank and tax records.

Brazil’s electoral authority barred the right-wing former leader from seeking public office for eight years in June. Now Bolsonaro’s growing legal problems have raised the prospect that he may ultimately face arrest and jail time.

The 68-year-old former army captain, who spread conspiracies about vote fraud throughout last year’s election, is facing investigations over whether he played a role in Jan. 8 riots in Brasilia, when supporters stormed major government buildings in an apparent effort to overturn his defeat to President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Since returning from self-imposed, post-election exile in Florida, he has also become the subject of probes into accusations of falsified Covid-19 vaccine records, allegations of a plot to bug the judge spearheading investigations against him, and whether he attempted to sell expensive jewelry and other gifts he received as president.

A former mayor of Puerto Rico is sentenced to three years of prison.

The former mayor of the municipality of Humacao, Puerto Rico, was sentenced Tuesday to three years and one month in prison for his involvement in a bribery scheme in which prosecutors said he received cash payments for awarding municipal contracts to two companies.

According to court documents, from 2021 until 2022, Reinaldo Vargas-Rodriguez, 49, was the mayor and highest-ranking government official in the municipality of Humacao.

Starting in 2021, Vargas-Rodriguez was involved in a bribery conspiracy in which he received and accepted cash payments from two businessmen in exchange for awarding municipal contracts for waste disposal services, asphalt and paving services and debris removal and paying outstanding invoices on the contracts, the Justice Department said.
Citizen Free Press also mentioned then the mayor in question hated Trump, I guess the Trump curse strikes again.
